To answer this question, both in vitro and in vivo studies were performed, and the data determined that CAF acts as an agonist ligand for both FXR and PXR, and this may contribute to its ability to raise cholesterol levels. Hrm, so the next question would seem to be how this affects HDL and LDL cholesterol…are both now not suppressed? Does it just lead to an increase in HDL?
I guarantee you this doesn’t matter if you drink a couple cups a day or less. If you’re drinking more than that, you’ve got other issues far more pressing. Like your bladder, presumably.
I drink around 20 to 30oz a day of French (Freedom) press coffee that you could stand a spoon up in, and my last cholesterol test (March) was 180.
