Baldilocks has a wingnut attacking her for supporting the Iraq War but not enlisting.
1.) Baldi is an Air Force veteran.
2.) The nutjob passing the ‘chickenhawk meme’ gets nailed for having numerous sock puppets.
Too funny. It is probably JadeGold.
p.lukasiak
Being an Air Force Veteran does not prevent one from re-enlisting in the US Army and requesting assignment to Iraq.
So if Baldilocks is so supportive of the Iraq war, there is nothing preventing her from joining up, and “putting her money where her mouth is.” Indeed, with her years of military training, she’d be a great asset to the Army.
But, like most war supporters, its all about other people fighting the wars they support….

P. whatever your last name is,
she is a RETIRED Vet. big differance. she did over 20 honerable years already.
before you write a diatribe get the facts correct.
RW
Great idea, p.lukasiak.
Let’s institute this philosophy across the board: all those against the Bush tax cuts pay the Clinton tax rates.
Did you send your Bush tax cut back? You’re not supporting others’ pay for what you support, are you?

Let’s institute this philosophy across the board: all those against the Bush tax cuts pay the Clinton tax rates.
Did you send your Bush tax cut back?
For the myriad number of people returning those vaunted Bush tax cuts, a majority would be in the, what, low-to-mid-3 figures?
I know I fell gratefully on my knees at the Gates of Walmart with my fat check in fevered hand.
You? Let’s have all the Cordial Ricks out there who say that Soc. Sec. is just a wee smidge bitty bit out of balance and needs just a tad nudgy nudge in the form of diminished liabilities (approaching zero, you know, just like is rightfully happening to ill-bargained corporate giveaways in the form of evil pension benefits) to get back on a sound fiscal track–let’s have these Cherry Cordials follow your facile logic by ripping that Soc. Sec. check out of Mama’s grasping greedy hands, because it’s so much fun to play this game.

You’re right. However, the fact that she served 20 years makes her at least 37, which DOES disqualify her, since the entrance age is capped at 35 for all services. It doesn’t take a degree in accounting to do the basic math required to figure this out, BTW.
Of course, getting the facts straight isn’t on YOUR agenda, since you had to get in your two cents without reading the relevant data. The first comment on the link that John provided to Baldilocks notes that she retired, which means that you didn’t bother to click through before shooting off.
But, like most war supporters, its all about other people fighting the wars they support….
She supported the war while she was still on active duty. Does this mean that now that she is out, she must withdraw her support? Think before you answer, because I don’t think you’ll like the ramifications of THAT line of logic. It can be applied to a whole slew of situations, some of which you would hate to have to defend against.
RW
They’re not using logic. It’s hate. You can almost feel it between the bytes.
p.lukasiak
LOL! The army is so desperate for recruits that they’d be perfectly willing to “fix” Baldilocks DoB if it means another warm body….
oh, and BTW, what YOUR excuse for not enlisting…..?
p.lukasiak

well, perhaps our host should provide the “relevant data”, rather than just say she’s an Air Force Vet.
RheGirl
You’re extremely funny when you’re unrealistic, p.lukasiak.
RheGirl

Are you next going to get on John Cole’s case about being an Army vet? How come you haven’t ragged on him yet for reenlisting, either?
a
“How come you haven’t ragged on him yet for reenlisting, either?”
John Cole’s white.

I can’t enlist because a) I am 37, and b) I am currently on active duty in the U. S. Navy.
Fish, Barrel, Gun.
Do you wish to embarrass yourself anymore, Mr. Lukasiak?

That should be “any more” (two words) in my previous post.
Oh, for the record, the military cannot accept someone who has served for 20 years (regardless of the age restrictions) due to retirement pay issues, not to mention high-year tenure (HYT) restrictions. I do not know Juliette’s final paygrade, but in my case, I will be forced to retire at the 20-year mark, unless I am selected for the next higher paygrade (which is highly unlikely due to my weight problem.) I would not be allowed to continue even if I wanted to, and that is not something that is going to be relaxed anytime soon. (If you were in the military, you’d understand how that is an understatement in the extreme.)
This is rebuttal, of course, to all of you screaming lunatics who bleat “chickenhawk” without a bloody clue about how the military works. (See: Kevin Drum and his idiotic posting on Bush’s military records, which demonstrate his complete and throrough lack of knowledge of military documentation.)
In any case, it’s an asisine line of argument straight out of the “what if” school. What if we reinstate the draft, but restrict it only to those who oppose the war? What if the president issues an executive order to dissolve congress and hold new elections? What if Howard Dean and Harry Reid were to give a press conference during which they wore matching pink tutus and toe shoes?
John Cole

Or the idiotic meme that ‘none of the swift vets served on the same boat’ as Kerry.
That doesn’t make what the Swift Vets true, but it sure does make that idiotic attack on them false.
It is just based on a total ignorance of how the military works. I still remember the social security number of my roommate (we were required to learn it and other vitals) who I served with almost 20 years ago.
Nash
I agree the meme was idiotic, then and now, and I’ve been idiot enough to catch myself thinking that way at times.
At the same time, wouldn’t you agree that this meme was also idiotic, at least in hindsight?
Just like there were many honorable men who didn’t like Kerry who served on Swift Boats and observed him, it is equally silly to maintain that because one reporter from the Globe favored Kerry that it meant that the majority of our press was stumping for him. Ask Bob Somerby whether he thinks Kerry got a fair shake from the press. Yes, I know, you don’t care what he has to say.
