Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

“The difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits.”

Whatever happens next week, the fight doesn’t end.

Jesus, Mary, & Joseph how is that election even close?

Historically it was a little unusual for the president to be an incoherent babbling moron.

With all due respect and assumptions of good faith, please fuck off into the sun.

There is no compromise when it comes to body autonomy. You either have it or you do not.

We will not go quietly into the night; we will not vanish without a fight.

The worst democrat is better than the best republican.

We cannot abandon the truth and remain a free nation.

Prediction: the gop will rethink its strategy of boycotting future committees.

We still have time to mess this up!

Republicans are the party of chaos and catastrophe.

The Supreme Court cannot be allowed to become the ultimate, unaccountable arbiter of everything.

Nothing says ‘pro-life’ like letting children go hungry.

T R E 4 5 O N

Someone should tell Republicans that violence is the last refuge of the incompetent, or possibly the first.

The National Guard is not Batman.

Polls are now a reliable indicator of what corporate Republicans want us to think.

So many bastards, so little time.

Republicans do not pay their debts.

That’s my take and I am available for criticism at this time.

Oh FFS you might as well trust a 6-year-old with a flamethrower.

This year has been the longest three days of putin’s life.

Republicans don’t want a speaker to lead them; they want a hostage.

And now for some real Nazi’s (Bug Me Not password):

Hate groups, particularly Nazi-oriented skinheads, are mushrooming across New Jersey at the same time that anti-Semitic incidents in the state have shot to an all-time high.

Law enforcement officials and organizations that monitor such groups say New Jersey’s increase is extraordinary.

Active hate groups in New Jersey totaled 31 last year, up from five in 1999, according to the Southern Poverty Law Center, which tracks such groups around the nation.

“They’re popping up all over,” said Brian Christensen, an investigator with New Jersey’s Office of Bias Crime and Community Relations.

Experts say that the increase in the number of groups does not necessarily mean more people are getting involved or that some larger war of the races has gained momentum. They also point out that the overwhelming majority of bias crimes are not committed by those in hate groups.

Just so people remember what real Nazis and neo-Nazis are all about.

A study of fascism and Nazism shows the duality in the movement. There are the street Nazis, the people who are looking for someone to blame for their own failed status: Jews, immigrants, blacks, Hispanics, liberals.

They become the cover story for fascism.

This is necessary to perform the sleight of hand for the real fascists, the bankers, the industrialists who benefit from the noxious inequalities; and the whore politicians who steal from the poor to feed the egos of the rich, and whose egos need that boost of power and wealth and who themselves hope to enter the status of the wealthy by stealing their way up the ladder.

An ignorant 17 year-old who tips over headstones in a Jewish cemetary on a Friday night or who does a little Paki-bashing with some drunken friends is only a pawn in their game.

It’s all a matter of class, and what better way of waging class warfare than by having the poor fight it out against each other while the rich, so far away, sit at poolside up in the hills?

And our internal anti-terrorism enforcement seems to be much more interested in left-wing pacifists than right-wing would-be terrorists. I commend to all Dave Neiwert’s blog on the subject: Orcinus at dneiwert.blogspot.com.

It would certainly seem to be in the interests of the SPLC and others to highlight such “mushrooming.” After all, what better way to fight such groups than to donate to the Church of Morris Dees.

Meanwhile, the L.A. Times refers to ANSWER LA as an “antiwar and anti-racism group” group.

Someone tell me which is the bigger threat: small numbers of Nazis which are reviled by the vast majority of Americans, or far-left/Communist/anti-American groups which are covered up for by the media?

    “far-left/Communist/anti-American”

Man, you wouldn’t know far-left if it bit you; the USA barely has a moderate left. And it’s mostly pacifist.

Now, the second largest act of terrorism on US soil was undertaken by a right-wing radical. Then there are the “Minutemen” on the Mexican border; getting approving words from the likes of Ah-nold. So where is the police surveillance of right-wing hate groups, hmmmm?

    John:

Not a spelling flame, but: the plural of “Nazi” is “Nazis”. “Nazi’s” is a possessive.

I haven’t been bitten by “International A.N.S.W.E.R.,” but I know far-left. They just pose as pacifist.

I know someone who doesn’t follow links!

At the second link I provided, you’ll hear a charming tale of a near-riot in Baldwin Park, CA. Counter-protesters from various far-left, racial, and anti-American groups surrounded a group of peaceful protesters.

One of the protesters was hit in the forehead by a full water bottle. She ended up spending the night in the ICU. She’s also 66 years old, and she was a Minuteman Project volunteer.

So, we have a MMP volunteer being attacked by far-left thugs, and the media basically covered it up. And, none of the media scare stories about the MMP materialized, despite members of the media deliberately trying to provoke a confrontation (like sneaking up on MMP volunteers at night).

The far-lefties later protested an appearance by the leader of the MMP project in Garden Grove, CA. They surrounded the cars that were entering the event, in one case banging on a car with their signs. The guy inside feared for his life and slowly inched forward. The police cleared him after viewing a videotape of the incident and realizing he didn’t want to end up like Reginald Denny.

The police also found full soda cans brought by the protesters for throwing, including at least one soda can full of marbles.

Yes, the peaceful, moderate left at work.

Lonewacko, your claims are unsubstantiated except by the group that organized the demonstration, not a real good sign of veracity. You are right, ANSWER does indeed include some actual far-left elements. But they are also a small group whose main talents seem to be stirring up trouble, hogging headlines, and taking credit for other people’s work. (Provocateurs? I wonder.) Most of the left reviles them and we don’t see their rhetoric getting closer and closer to the mainstream.

    Dear reader:

If Randolph Fritz ever tells you the sky is blue, look outside to double check.

He says the incidents I describe are only supported by the testimony of the victims. Yet, anyone who follows links can find several news reports fully supporting what I wrote.

Regarding Baldwin Park: “We’re investigating this as an assault with a deadly weapon,” [Baldwin Park police Sgt. Greg Keef] said

There are several newspaper links about the Garden Grove incident here

RF: please stop wasting people’s time and bandwidth.

Michelle Malkin as a source? The person who wants to rewrite the history of the Japanese internment to make it OK? What, are you crazy? The North County Times article claims to be based on an LA Times article that I cannot find on the LA Times website.

    Sources, sources.

    I’m outta this one!
