Ok- last call for color schemes and a possible new banner for a site re-design. I would like to use the following colors- Navy blue, pearl white background for text (maybe a light cream color), maybe some silver trim, and maybe some red- but tastefully done. I don’t want the banner to look like something made by the Montana militia.
I really need a new professional look that will simplify the banner I have now and will help to just ‘clean up’ what we have going now. If you are so inclined, please whip something up. I have the slogan I want to use, so if you are going to do something, e-mail me and I will tell you what it is.
Barring that, I am going to just pay for someone to do it, and will have to put it off a few months. Previous fund-raising attempts have been almost fruitless ($70.00), but if you are so inclined, hit the paypal icon to the right or buy an ad.

Wow! $70.00!
PayPal put $.18 into my account – and then took it out again, I think – just to get us started, and there’s been no activity since. I have a son with the genius to do a site like mine; he can be bought more cheaply than just about anyone else, I’d guess, although he would have the last word.
You know where to find me if you are interested.

I like the silver trim idea. Sounds spiffy. Obviously, I will not be any help with the technical side. Would an electric blue instead of red look good? I like electric blue. :)

Sounds great! My only request is please do not use white letters on a dark background. Sullivan’s blog hurts my eyes.
Thank you,
Nancy

Ditto. Hate white letters on dark backgrounds. Sullivan’s blog just hurts, period. :)

I’m new around here, but I third the vote against white letters on a dark background, though a subtle shade of gray on black *sometimes* works.
Not related to colors (since my own sites tend to revolve around the same 4 colors: black, gray, purple and green), but if you wanted to do away with the fixed width thing while you’re redesigning, that’d be ducky.
Also, you might find this amusing: For some reason, your site triggers the Stop Sign of Doom at my office. I can’t figure out why – I read many blogs at work, including Wonkette, which is notoriously vulgar.

You mean like here?
Good call… Looks spiffy to me…
