Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

This chaos was totally avoidable.

I am now finished with season six of Buffy, and working my way through season two of Angel. The last foiur episodes of Buffy season six saved the whole season, IMHO.

I can now say, without watching anymore of the series, that I have decided who my favorite character is. It is, hands down, Drusilla.

DrusillaName.jpg

Drusilla: I can’t see her. The Slayer. I can’t see. It’s dark where she is. Kill her. Kill her, Spike. Kill her for me?
Spike: It’s done, baby.
Drusilla: Kill her for princess?
Spike: I’ll chop her into messes.
Drusilla: You are my sweet… my little Spike…

Steals the scene every time…

That’s a tough one John given that at different times most of the cast shines. Dru and Spike, “chewed” up every scene they were in. Evil Willow both as a witch and a bi-vampire were equally good. Any scene with Anya, especially when she got into capitalism had me rolling. Buffy in ” The Body” was heart breaking when she said “mommy?” I agree that Dru steals the most scenes. The writers were so clear in their vision for her and made every word a tasty little meal.

Unfortuntely, saving the season in the last few episodes became the rule for the last couple. And it’s worth noting that Drusilla (Juliet Landau) is the daughter of Martin Landau and Barbara Bain.

Oh, I believe John’s thirty-five… The demographic for Buffy, other Joss Whedon stuff, many comic movies and other stuff is one-part younger (teens), but in large part aimed squarely at the mid-30s. It’s simply where the fans are. the younger consumers of this stuff are too fickle and short-term.

When you work anywhere close to the comic industry (as I have for years) this is crystal clear.

A solid choice. Coming soon in Season 2 of Angel (MINOR SPOILER):

Drusilla: It’s not daddy. It’s never daddy. Sss! It’s the Angel-beast.
    Darla: Come to punish us?
Drusilla: Yeah. Yeah. Spank us till Tuesday. Rrr! We promise to be bad if you do.

    Dru, so true….
Hard to believe an actress with a face like Juliet Landau’s hasn’t done more than she has, but there you go… I had always wondered where she had inherited those cheekbones from….

I thought Season Six was really dire. The last episodes DID save it, but other than that, I only liked Once More With Feeling and Tabla Rasa. The other sixteen I can forget happily.

Season Seven was a tad bit better, but I thought they got Faith all wrong. Poorly written Faith makes me very disappointed.

And, I’ll agree, Dru is one of the best characters on the show. Certainly the best vampire.

Buffy’s great. But Veronica Mars surapsses it in terms of writing, acting, and psychological depth.

    We live in hyphenated times.

    Should that be hyphenated?
