Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

I like you, you’re my kind of trouble.

Make the republican party small enough to drown in a bathtub.

Thanks to your bullshit, we are now under siege.

They love authoritarianism, but only when they get to be the authoritarians.

Reality always lies in wait for … Democrats.

Usually wrong but never in doubt

I really should read my own blog.

Damn right I heard that as a threat.

Jesus, Mary, & Joseph how is that election even close?

Balloon Juice has never been a refuge for the linguistically delicate.

But frankly mr. cole, I’ll be happier when you get back to telling us to go fuck ourselves.

Wow, you are pre-disappointed. How surprising.

When do the post office & the dmv weigh in on the wuhan virus?

Second rate reporter says what?

Optimism opens the door to great things.

Meanwhile over at truth Social, the former president is busy confessing to crimes.

Infrastructure week. at last.

The willow is too close to the house.

Nothing worth doing is easy.

It may be funny to you motherfucker, but it’s not funny to me.

They are lying in pursuit of an agenda.

Let’s not be the monsters we hate.

Impressively dumb. Congratulations.

No offense, but this thread hasn’t been about you for quite a while.

Bombings In Britain

The bastards have hit London, and now 7-7 will join 3-11 and 9-11 in the rogues gallery of dates that no longer are simply days of the year.

Josh Trevino is liveblogging from London, and his posts can be found at Red State.

There really is no point in me summarizing affairs, because no one does it better than the Instapundit. Go check Glenn’s round-up.

Also, don’t forget Avedon Carol, who resides over yonder and files this quick dispatch.

Our strongest allies in the early stages of the War on Terror – the UK and Spain – have been the targets of Al-Queda attacks on their capitals. We are no safer today than before 9/11.

Really? 45 deaths as opposed to three thousand equals England’s 9/11? The UK history of being a target for terrorists goes back a lot longer than ours does. They aren’t exactly virgins.

Let’s hope there isn’t a rush on yellow ribbons instead of Union Jacks, though. You saw mourning as opposed to outrage when we stopped showing pictures on TV of people jumping from the towers. It’s the first step to wussifying the war effort and sowing the seeds of surrender.

Jesus Christ, John Gibson is a douchebag…

They’re still searching for survivors, and he can’t wait to say “wish it had been the French.”

Hell why not broadcast pictures of people jumping to their deaths every time Bush needs a lift. Social Security reform not selling – cue pictures of people leaping. Supreme Court justices not getting passed soon enough – cue people jumping.

You know when a good fucking time to have shown pictures of people jumping? On a screen behind Bush when he said this:

“So I don’t know where [bin Laden] is. You know, I just don’t spend that much time on him, Kelly, to be honest with you. . . . I truly am not that concerned about him.”

Speaking as someone that is working, not sitting there watching Fox News looking for tips to send Media Matters, can you elaborate on John Gibson saying that he would “wish it had been the French”?

My bad, in looking at the dateline on the editorial, it appears that Gibson filed the column yesterday. Still, the final line:

“But, alas, they picked London. I like the Brits. I like London. I hate to see them going through all this garbage when it would have been just fine in Paris.”

    Looks really bad today.

Gotta say, if I didn’t see Gibson’s article, I’m not sure I would have believed it. Shame, shame on him.

I didn’t think the media whores and manipulators could go any lower than Pat Robertson’s “blame it on the homosexuals” after 9-11.

But I was wrong. Unless Fox fires Gibson, I would hope that this clears up, once and for all, whether that organization is anything but a destructive and disgusting piece of crap that deserves the outrage of every citizen. Shame.

John Gibson – yet another FOx shit-head that likes to prattle on about “heartland America” and “eevil ee-lites”, then goes home to his upper-east side condo. Man, can you get a more gullible audience than Fox viewers? Really, can you? I could care less that its GOP-biased (NOT conservative), its the idiocy that offends me.

    Can you fucking people read?!

Gibson’s column is dated July 6. London happened today, July 7th. Even the friggin person that posted the link acknolwedged that!

You might have a beef with Fox if they left it up there, but to act like Gibson is a scumbag for a column filed BEFORE THE LONDON BOMBINGS is just stupid. Stop spewing your stupid anti-Fox talking point and think for yourselves for once.

I think poli-snark by both Douglas and TOM is totally tasteless right now. We don’t know who committed the bombings, why or even how many are dead. It’d be nice if everybody bit their tongue at least until the smoke has cleared.

Sorry Jeff, missed it. My “shame” on Gibson is withdrawn.

it shouldn’t be. Gibson was wishing terrorist attacks on Paris rather than London — it really doesn’t matter when he did it, its just as reprehensible before an attack occurs as it is after.

    ppqaz,

You don’t have to totally withdraw your shame on Gibson. Just in this case. I’m sure he’ll do something else soon enough.

    lukasiak,

I’m not wasting my breath. You’re a partisan hack without a clue.

It probably goes without saying, but nobody should have to put up with this shit. Not the British, not us, not Spain, not France. Nobody. Hopefully we can find those responsible and kill them.

Guys like Gibson should rot in hell. His snarks about France — even if it was before this particular attack — are part of the reason a lot of folks want to start scoring political points before the dust has cleared. After 9/11, all Americans were unified and ready to come down like the wrath of Almighty God on those who were responsible. But, a lot of folks feel like the trust they gave after 9/11 was misused. So, now there is a reluctance to call of the political dogs at all, lest that small bit of good faith be used against them.

Remember, we’re fighting terrorism in Iraq London so that we don’t have to fight them at home.

I can’t imagine why the Brits would quail from that heroic role we’ve assigned them.

Ideally, Blair would announce that Britain will now be devoting its efforts to attacking al-Qaeda. Just imagine! Going after the bastards who actually hit you, instead of the bastards who didn’t!

Yes, I still think Gibson is a star member of the Order of the Potatoheads.

But I thought his rant was written after today’s attack, and it wasn’t. So even though it is stupid and tasteless and insensitive and wrong on every count and reprehensible, my level of outrage does not rise to the level of putting pins into my Gibson voodoo doll. I’ll suspend my rant until some future time.

I just think that snarks and wisecracks about terror are not appropriate while people are still picking up body parts. There is plenty of time for that later. Gibson had no way of knowing that today would bring this crap down upon London. So I give him a pass … for now.

So it would have been a treat, actually, to watch the French dealing with the problem of their own homegrown Islamist terrorists living in France already.

Slarti et al, the guy who wrote this is a contemptible jerk, whatever the date.

Unless you think it’s a “treat” to watch ANYONE trying to stop Islamist terrorists.

Somehow, I thought only Osama and his fan club would think that a “treat.”

Really pathetic, guys. No wonder Americans don’t trust your party with National Security, your too busy monitoring Fox News.

This is a Laphroig day for sure. Here’s to England and the hope that Churchill’s spine still resides within. Terrorists will lose, and I hope the guards at Gitmo spit in their lemon chicken.

    PS Osama is dead.

The man looked lively enough during his most recent television appearence. And even if he has died in the meantime, as we have graphically learned today, there are plenty more to carry on his footsteps.

Actually, it’s the people who are least likely to get hit who trust your boy. The ones who have been hit overwhelmingly went for the Dem.

One idiotic point deserves another: they voted that way in 2K, as well, and as brainiac Michael Moore complained.

As usual, you miss the point, Rick.

In response to the claim that Americans don’t vote for the Dems because they’re weak on security, I simply pointed out that those most likely to be attacked tend to vote Democrat.

I’m sorry this was difficult for you to understand.
