I think it’s wise for thoughtful Republicans to back away from Rove, at least not act the fool and say something that will show up in Fall ’06 on a campaign mailer.
Myself, I wish my friends on the Left would stop calling for Rove to step down or be fired. He’s not going to stop puppeteering if the curtain is drawn tighter. Even at this late date, he’s getting photographed with Bush, and that’s just fine with me. The Democrats aren’t going to get hearings about him, Bush is not going to get impeached. Let the Rethugs draw in the wagons and get Karl’s stank all over themselves.
