Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Republican obstruction dressed up as bipartisanship. Again.

My years-long effort to drive family and friends away has really paid off this year.

I’d try pessimism, but it probably wouldn’t work.

Come on, man.

We still have time to mess this up!

Perhaps you mistook them for somebody who gives a damn.

Good lord, these people are nuts.

We’ll be taking my thoughts and prayers to the ballot box.

I wonder if trump will be tried as an adult.

Prediction: the GOP will rethink its strategy of boycotting future committees.

In my day, never was longer.

Following reporting rules is only for the little people, apparently.

Teach a man to fish, and he’ll sit in a boat all day drinking beer.

American History and Black History Cannot Be Separated

Come on, media. you have one job. start doing it.

Republicans in disarray!

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

You can’t attract Republican voters. You can only out organize them.

People are complicated. Love is not.

DeSantis transforms Florida into 1930s Germany with gators and theme parks.

Joe Lieberman disappointingly reemerged to remind us that he’s still alive.

After roe, women are no longer free.

Republicans are radicals, not conservatives.

This fight is for everything.

The Bull Moose gets snarkier than usual:

Santorum is Latin For Fool

To paraphrase Leon Trotsky, the Moose acknowledges that Senator Santorum has the right to be stupid, but he is clearly abusing the privilege.

The Moose is referring, of course, to Santorum’s charge that Boston liberalism and its alleged libertine academic environment was responsible for the Catholic Church’s child sex abuse scandal…

You have to give Santorum credit. You really have to put your mind to it to be this clueless. If there was a Nobel Prize for ignorance, Santorum would be the hands down winner. If there was a Super Bowl of Stupidity, Santorum would win the trophy. If there was an Oscar for being dumb, Santorum would get the statue. If there was a book about Santorum’s intellect, it would be titled the “Unbearable Lightness of Being.”

Again, heh.

In Jeff’s opinion, The Moose refers to himself in the third person entirely too much.

Regarding Santorum and his inane remarks about Boston, one has to wonder if the man has ever set foot in that city or if he just makes the assumption that it can so easily be categorized as the city which contains Harvard (which it doesn’t). How would he feel if people started to classify Philly as that place where the police bomb neighborhoods?

Isn’t going after Santorum like picking on an unarmed man? It’s just way to easy.

“How would he like it if people started to classify Philly as that place where people bomb neighborhoods?”

AND where the mayor who OK’d bombing the neighborhood gets re-elected!

Besides, we’re already known as the city that throws snowballs at Santa Claus and booed Mike Schmidt.

Anyone else get the impression Ricky isn’t all that interested in being a senator anymore? What with the polls in PA and all. So what’s he going to do next? Run for president in 2008 with Roy Moore as VP? Televangelist?

I don’t think Santorum would care about what people think of Philly, as his home state is now, apparently, Virginia.

Though to be picky, the original quote, originating with Bob Kerrey of Nebraska, is, “Santorum is Latin for “asshole.” And Dan Savage’s Spreading Santorum site is also amusing.

Well I can’t think of anything snarky to say about Virginia, but mostly becaue it’s my home state now too.

But K.J. Lopez says Santorum was right! Is that worth nothing?

The Corner defenses of Santorum have actually been rather amusing. They all rely on dressing up Santorum’s statements with a bunch of ten-dollar words (“All he did was suggest that moral relativism, when taken to its logical extension, might result in some sort of weakening of strictures on behavior within otherwise orderly institutions”) and then asking “is that really so awful to suggest?” Well, no, when no one can understand the claim under discussion any longer, it sure gets a lot tougher to condemn it!
