Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Republicans don’t want a speaker to lead them; they want a hostage.

I like you, you’re my kind of trouble.

Fani Willis claps back at Trump chihuahua, Jim Jordan.

The current Supreme Court is a rogue court. Very dangerous.

Following reporting rules is only for the little people, apparently.

Nikki Haley, who can’t acknowledge ‘slavery’, is a pathetic shill.

The willow is too close to the house.

This country desperately needs a functioning Fourth Estate.

It is possible to do the right thing without the promise of a cookie.

It’s easy to sit in safety and prescribe what other people should be doing.

There are no moderate republicans – only extremists and cowards.

The rest of the comments were smacking Boebert like she was a piñata.

Nothing worth doing is easy.

Many life forms that would benefit from greater intelligence, sadly, do not have it.

Biden: Oh no. We’ve upset Big Pharma again.

“But what about the lurkers?”

It’s a doggy dog world.

We’ll be taking my thoughts and prayers to the ballot box.

You are so fucked. Still, I wish you the best of luck.

Let us savor the impending downfall of lawless scoundrels who richly deserve the trouble barreling their way.

I’m sure you banged some questionable people yourself. We’re allowed to grow past that.

Bark louder, little dog.

How can republicans represent us when they don’t trust women?

Million Dollar Baby

Just saw Million Dollar Baby. About as heartbreaking and gut-wrenching as it gets.

On a lighter note, I have decided I could listen to Morgan Freeman recite the dictionary, I like his voice so much.

I am SO there. Although my favorite roles are Freeman in Shawshank and Nurse Betty. (Um, that’s two movies, not one.) The former is one of my Fave Movies Of All Time and the latter is a little gem that a lot of people missed. What a marvelous actor. Oh, and I love Million Dollar Baby, too.

I have that kind of relationship with several actors, Morgan Freeman among them. The other two that pop into my head at the moment are Samuel L. Jackson and Edward Norton.

You should go see the documentary film about penguins, I think it’s called Dance of the Penguins, Freeman narrates.

It’s “March of the Penguins” and it’s supposed to be fantastic.

In his time, Freeman was the best stage actor in New York, riveting as Coriolanus and the driver in DRIVING MISS DAISY among many other parts.

Personally, I hated MDB… it felt like Freeman and Eastwood were in a ‘Crustiest Old Bastard Of All Time’ Texas Cage Match…

I agree about the voice thing, though. All we need to do is get Freeman and James Earl Jones in some sort of ‘Dueling Banjos’ kind of read-off…

I’m with you John – Million Dollar Baby was a great movie. Not a bad moment in it. Well cast, well written and shot. All the emotional moments hit exactly the right note. Glad that everyone involved, especially Morgan Freeman, won Oscars for their parts.

Personally, I really liked the scene when Clint and Hillary are in the car together, talking about her upbringing. The way they shot that, actually letting Hillary stay in the dark, rather than lighting her in soft blue “night” light like most movies).

March of the Penguins was a fascinating documentary. Recommended.

Just, whatever you do, don’t see Unleashed. Your respect and love for him will tank like the Exxon Valdez.
Other than that, I’ve yet to see anyone play the wise old black dude better. Possibly because there aren’t that many in Hollywood. Still, he does a damn good job.

Liked the Penguin movie much better than The Million Dollar Babies…

    Sorry to be pedantic, but:

Just, whatever you do, don’t see Unleashed. Your respect and love for him will tank like the Exxon Valdez.

The Exxon Valdez, ironically enough, never “sank.” It stayed quite afloat, though it leaked a lot of oil. After a decent amount of time, it was repaired, renamed, and as far as I know is still sailing the Seven Seas.

Eastwood is a greatly under-rated filmmaker. Unforgiven is one of the best westerns ever made. Watch it again if you have to.

As for Million Dollar Baby, I think only Eastwood could have gotten such a strange script made into a big time Hollywood flick. He’s got the pull and skillz to put it together and make it right.

I saw it for the first time a couple of weeks ago. Even though I knew how it ended and I knew all the hype surrounding it, it was the rare movie that more than met my expectations. An interesting script, fabulous actors, and, yes, Eastwood’s directing was right on the money.
