Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

We are builders in a constant struggle with destroyers. keep building.

Never give a known liar the benefit of the doubt.

The republican speaker is a slippery little devil.

Stamping your little feets and demanding that they see how important you are? Not working anymore.

There are consequences to being an arrogant, sullen prick.

This fight is for everything.

People identifying as christian while ignoring christ and his teachings is a strange thing indeed.

There are some who say that there are too many strawmen arguments on this blog.

Shallow, uninformed, and lacking identity

There are more Russians standing up to Putin than Republicans.

Russian mouthpiece, go fuck yourself.

The republican caucus is covering themselves with something, and it is not glory.

Prediction: the gop will rethink its strategy of boycotting future committees.

Weird. Rome has an American Pope and America has a Russian President.

Marge, god is saying you’re stupid.

We know you aren’t a Democrat but since you seem confused let me help you.

You can’t attract Republican voters. You can only out organize them.

Insiders who complain to politico: please report to the white house office of shut the fuck up.

fuckem (in honor of the late great efgoldman)

We can show the world that autocracy can be defeated.

Everything is totally normal and fine!!!

Whoever he was, that guy was nuts.

Bark louder, little dog.

Like a Deux ex Machina, Jeff “Gannon” Gluckert and his throbbing goldmember should be making an appearance soon.

Because John Roberts is, like, so gay.

    Cordially…

    John:

I’ve been wondering for quite some time now why we haven’t heard Darth Bolton’s name.

The Plame case involves State Department memos, WMD, and potentially abusive behavior. Sounds like Bolton’s c.v.

Moreover, what do you want to bet that those Bolton-requested intercepts the Senate Dems have been demanding involve some permutation of “Wilson” and “Plame?”

Not at all surprising that he and Judy Miller found each other–kind of like the horny drunk asshole and the pitiful barfly find each other five minutes before last call.

Well, it appears likely that he was called to testify in the Plame case and the whole issue here really is about the administration’s handling of WMD intelligence and trying to control that spin. It’s hardly surprising that Bolton would appear. I’m not sure why this rates a tag?

It isn’t as if the far left is generating this revelation.

This case has already pegged my shadenfreude meter. If anybody else gets pulled in it might be dangerous to my health.

Apparently, when a nominee appears before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, one of the standard questions on the disclosure form asks if you have testified in any grand jury or congressional proceeding within the last five years. If so, that would be an unfortunate thing to have slipped Bolton’s mind.

Ain’t that the truth. And although I keep trying to tell myself that Bolton’s involvement in this fiasco has to fall into the “too good to be truth” department, its virtually impossible to not fantasize about how the Plame leak could bring down this whole disasterous administration…

We really do need to start asking….

“what did the President know, and when did he know it”

because at some point I want to hear…

“Our long national nightmare is over” from newly sworn President John Danforth….

I know that Hastert is next in line in the event that Bush/Cheney are no longer “available.” Does he finish out the term or just long enough to hold a national election?

    Anyone know?

There’s no provision for early exit—it’s just as if the VP had taken over.

Dunno. I’d prefer that Bush remain neutered, isolated from his advisors and politically radioactive. People would sort fo feel sorry for Cheney and Hastert leaves me lukewarm. Bush deserves a chance to govern without the help of the better people who’ve led him around by the hand for his entire life. Let the sparrow finally leave the nest and fly on his own. Fly, little sparrow, fly.

Once more, early on, probably when Plame’s ID was leaked in 2003, Jeff Gannon interviewed Joe Wilson and referred to a secret memo that said that Plame had sent Wilson to that enchanted vacation spot, Niger.

Not that he’s talking anymore, heck, he may not be living anymore, but I would not be surprised if he hadn’t visited the grand jury himself.

Tim F, watch your cholesterol if you want to last till the end.

The question now is whether Bush will risk putting Bolton in the UN as a recess appointment. As it is, every intelligence service around the world is laughing.

It’s time for the Senate to give Bolton an up-or-down vote. Frankly, whether or not he was involved the Valerie Plame tempest in a teapot is of little interest to regular Americans, who just want a tough guy to stand up to the crooks at the UN.

The joking about Jeff Gannon’s “goldmember” aside, is there any proof that Mr. Gannon really was a prostitute? I’ve seen allgegation bandied about, but no proof.

Here you go, DougJ, all the naked photos of Jeff Gannon/Guckert/Bulldog, you could ever desire. And if you desire more, it’s a mere $1200 for an entire weekend with the man himself.

Doug, lay off the GOP kool-aid. Though you drink deeply of it (and often), the fact remains that a lot of people do care about the “teapot” that is the Plame investigation.

In reality, few people give a rat’s ass about a “tough guy to stand up to the crooks at the UN”.

Bottom line: Wilson was not fully truthful about his “mission” to Niger (read: wife-sponsored boondoggle). That makes him and his wife fair game. Anything Rove and Libby did is completely justified both morally and legally. That’s how things work: if you tell a lie — even a small one — you open yourself up for this sort of thing.

    Doug-

I don’t even know where to begin unravelling your pretzel logic, so I won’t bother. There are so many lies, distortions and erroneous statements in your short little paragraph – how did you manage to cram all that in there?

I’ll leave up to anyone else who reads your vapid response to pause, reflect and laugh at your sentiments.

Doug’s sold his soul for this administration. National security is less important than protecting his party.

    Truly pathetic.

Given the pattern of his “career progress,” I think the most likely candidate for leaking this Manhatten Project-scale “secret” is Colin Powell. Good Old Boy with the pressies that he’s always been.

According to his website “Jeff Gannon” is a DOMINANT verbal TOP who has 8 inches cut. He doesn’t leave marks he leaves IMPRESSIONS!

    WOOF! I’m getting moist.

I bet the Gay Liberal Reporters at the NY Times LOVED having him as a fellow White House “reporter”. No doubt “Jeff” left quite a few of them in need of a donut pillow for a few White House briefings :-)

DougJ, you are a pathetic weasel. What will you do when Mehlman, Rove, Bush and McClellan are outed? Better sign up for some sensitivity training. These guys will need some sensitivity when they’re released from prison.
