Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

This isn’t Democrats spending madly. This is government catching up.

Let there be snark.

After dobbs, women are no longer free.

Human rights are not a matter of opinion!

Sadly, there is no cure for stupid.

He seems like a smart guy, but JFC, what a dick!

“The defense has a certain level of trust in defendant that the government does not.”

Boeing: repeatedly making the case for high speed rail.

Second rate reporter says what?

Their freedom requires your slavery.

Conservatism: there are people the law protects but does not bind and others who the law binds but does not protect.

I would try pessimism, but it probably wouldn’t work.

I really should read my own blog.

These days, even the boring Republicans are nuts.

The worst democrat is better than the best republican.

Giving in to doom is how authoritarians win.

No one could have predicted…

Republicans don’t want a speaker to lead them; they want a hostage.

Wow, you are pre-disappointed. How surprising.

The media handbook says “controversial” is the most negative description that can be used for a Republican.

We need to vote them all out and restore sane Democratic government.

When you’re a Republican, they let you do it.

Fuck these fucking interesting times.

There are no moderate republicans – only extremists and cowards.

Looks like DeLay will be the high-ranking GOP official who will step up to the camera for ‘Just Us’ Sunday II:

Stepping into the debate over the Supreme Court nomination of Judge John G. Roberts Jr., Representative Tom DeLay, the majority leader, has agreed to appear in a telecast called “Justice Sunday II” to rally conservative Christian support for remaking the court.

Mr. DeLay’s planned appearance adds the imprimatur of a top Republican elected official to the event, which seeks to call attention to what its organizers say is the Supreme Court’s hostility to Christianity and traditional families in its decisions about abortion, homosexuality and government support for religion. It will be broadcast to churches and Christian television stations and distributed as a video.

Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council and the principal organizer, called Mr. DeLay, of Texas, “a natural fit” with the program. “He has been very outspoken on the need for addressing the issue of judicial activism,” Mr. Perkins said.

You got to give DeLay credit- he doesn’t back down from any controversy.

He also runs the House like the Senate should be run by the majority party. Dems hate him because he is so effective, and his ethics problems caused the microscope to be turned right back onto the Democrats. Turns out lots of Dems were doing the same thing Delay was doing, including Nancy Pelosi. Dalay is not going anywhere, the base love this guy.

Delay, dang it! I can’t use the coffee excuse because I’ve had several cups.

Exactly, Stormy. DeLay hasn’t done anything that other people in the House aren’t doing. For that matter, I don’t think Abramoff or Reed really did anything wrong either. Politics is a dirty game, but you’ve got to play it to get things done. All DeLay is guilty of is being good at playing the game.

In a more just world, DeLay — not First — would be getting talked up as a presidential candidate.

I think this should be broadcast into the homes of all RINO’s. The greedy, corrupt, and abusive head of the greedy, corrupt, and abusive Congressional Republicans appearing before the radical clerics and religious extremists.

I don’t see much of Christ’s teachings in the way that Tom DeLay conducts himself.

The Bible would tend to agree with you:

Mark 13:6 – For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.

Luke 21:8 – And he said, Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and the time draweth near: go ye not therefore after them.

Are you taking the stand that DeLay is holding himself up as christ or a prophet or something? If so, from where do you get that idea?

Delay is a walking billboard for the hypocrisy of the so-called religious right.
