Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

I did not have telepathic declassification on my 2022 bingo card.

And now I have baud making fun of me. this day can’t get worse.

I was promised a recession.

A snarling mass of vitriolic jackals

Anyone who bans teaching American history has no right to shape America’s future.

Republicans do not pay their debts.

Too often we hand the biggest microphones to the cynics and the critics who delight in declaring failure.

Since when do we limit our critiques to things we could do better ourselves?

Let there be snark.

We’ve had enough carrots to last a lifetime. break out the sticks.

The words do not have to be perfect.

if you can’t see it, then you are useless in the fight to stop it.

Make the republican party small enough to drown in a bathtub.

Pessimism assures that nothing of any importance will change.

Why did Dr. Oz lose? well, according to the exit polls, it’s because Fetterman won.

Consistently wrong since 2002

This fight is for everything.

A dilettante blog from the great progressive state of West Virginia.

If senate republicans had any shame, they’d die of it.

I’d like to think you all would remain faithful to me if i ever tried to have some of you killed.

The revolution will be supervised.

Historically it was a little unusual for the president to be an incoherent babbling moron.

Perhaps you mistook them for somebody who gives a damn.

Republicans in disarray!

Oklahoma lost to TCU.

At Oklahoma.

Now if Notre Dame, USC, and any team from Florida can lose, life is good indeed.

You shouldn’t us Irish Rick, its culturally insensitive.

    Go…
(oh christ, my alma maters suck, U.Colorado has no business playing football, and CSU isn’t a blip on the national scene.)

    But Hockey will start soon!

After everything Brendan Loy has done for the blogosphere this week, I find your attitude very insensitive. :-)

This would be a good thread to talk about how I have opening-night Steelers tickets. Sunday, September 11 against the TN Titans. Somewhere in the vicinity of section 514, low enough down to chuck a beer bottle at Steve McNair if he gets close enough. Consider this a public service message.

    But Hockey will start soon!

At which point Colorado College will crush them. Go CC!

But, cough, don’t talk to me about CC football. Seriously, don’t.

As a Sooner Season Ticket Holder, and on hand to watch the debacle today (instead of being at the lake, thanks to gas prices) the only good coming out of today’s game is at least Mack Brown will have to answer questions about why a team that couldn’t beat TCU, at home, beat Texas.

    Chris,
Nice try okie. Just like your inverted ‘Horns, it is always about us and never about yourselves. Seriously, do you guys think, in general, that your issues today can be solved or is this a preview of the entire season? Mostly applies to the O-line… didn’t you guys also lose a DE to a torn ACL?

Go Cal!!! CAL is the last team to beat USC. That’s the real USC, not South Carolina.

I don’t always agree with you, John — in fact, I disagree with you more often than not — but I’ve respected you. Until now. How can you possibly include Notre Dame among Oklahoma and the Florida football factories?

Okay, sure, we were playing Pitt, but that means you root for Pitt to win, not Notre Dame to lose. As a born-and-bred native of South Bend, I have the belief — maybe this is unique to Notre Dame, I dunno — that there are respected opponents and enemies.

The former group, which includes Pitt as well as (for example) Michigan, Michigan State, Penn State, Purdue, Boston College and the service academies, are frequent opponents, true, and important games we want to win. But we don’t hate them. We want to win, yeah, but we want it to be a fair fight, and we want you to do well in your other games. The latter group, which includes (also for illustrative purposes) Miami, Florida, Florida State, Oklahoma and Nebraska, well, they’re the bad guys. We don’t just root for Notre Dame to win, we root for them to lose in games Notre Dame isn’t involved in. Ideally by tremendous margins.

It would be sad if Pitt fans hated Notre Dame, since Domers rather like Pittsburgh. You guys gave us Joe Montana, and we gave you guys Jerome Bettis. By itself, I would think this would generate mutual respect.

re, CC and the politics of football at small colleges. The two schools in which I’ve earned degrees, Fort Lewis College in Durango, and Co. School of Mines in Golden both field football teams. Neither are respectable, but at least Mines uses the program to get smart kids into a good school under scholarships (I’d assume that CC football is similar)

F(ruit)L(oops)C football is flat out a joke. Lets take money away from what used to be a nationally dominant ski team, a presently dominant cycling team and cross country team, and budding swim, soccer and lacross teams and instead give it to a losing football team that no one, outside the football team, (some of) their girlfriends and perhaps a couple of their landlords, gives one wit.

So for the national collegiate sports scene, bring on DU and CC hockey.
