The Mountaineers are 1-0, escaping from Syracuse with a 15-7 win.
If you watched the game or look at the stats, the ‘Eers actually dominated but for the 735 fumbles. Ok, maybe it was only 4. But we should have killed them. Defense looked great, though, although I aam not sure how much of that is our defense or their totally unprepared offense.

City folk always forget to put the plug in prior to launch.
And the results are always hilarious.

“Defense looked great, though, although I am not sure how much of that is our defense or their totally unprepared offense.”
-a totally unprepared offense recruited to play option but stuck playing a “west-coast” “offense” installed by a graduate assistant-turned QB coach and a defensive coordinator-turned head coach, missing its only returning WR (broke his leg in practice earlier in the week). I’d say that considering they have no offense, WV’s defense played fine, but SU’s defense played much better, considering the actual offense that WV supposedly has. It was basically SU defense vs. the whole WV team, and WV just barely won – that WV offense needs some practice.

The Syracuse defense did a nice job, especially when you consider they were on the field for most of the game. They really only gave up 6 points, it was the SU offense (specifically Patterson’s INT for a td and the safety) who gave up the the other 9 pts that WVU scored.
Patterson was horrible.
