Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

The words do not have to be perfect.

Technically true, but collectively nonsense

No offense, but this thread hasn’t been about you for quite a while.

Conservatism: there are some people the law protects but does not bind and others who the law binds but does not protect.

I’m pretty sure there’s only one Jack Smith.

Shallow, uninformed, and lacking identity

When I decide to be condescending, you won’t have to dream up a fantasy about it.

I’d hate to be the candidate who lost to this guy.

The truth is, these are not very bright guys, and things got out of hand.

This really is a full service blog.

Give the craziest people you know everything they want and hope they don’t ask for more? Great plan.

We are builders in a constant struggle with destroyers. let’s win this.

Americans barely caring about Afghanistan is so last month.

Reality always lies in wait for … Democrats.

Historically it was a little unusual for the president to be an incoherent babbling moron.

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

If senate republicans had any shame, they’d die of it.

… pundit janitors mopping up after the GOP

Infrastructure week. at last.

Good lord, these people are nuts.

It’s the corruption, stupid.

It’s time for the GOP to dust off that post-2012 autopsy, completely ignore it, and light the party on fire again.

That’s my take and I am available for criticism at this time.

Only Democrats have agency, apparently.

Senator Me

Too funny:

Yesterday’s opening of the John Roberts confirmation hearings was a time for historic firsts.

Sen. Charles E. Schumer (D-N.Y.) made 49 first-person references in a 10-minute statement that was, ostensibly, not about himself.

Heh. This is amusing, too:

Sen. Tom Coburn (R-Okla.) showed exceptional emotional versatility, working a crossword puzzle during the hearing and then choking back a sob while making a prosaic statement about partisanship.

Kind of amusing from the guy who is still waving Terri Schiavo’s corpse around for partisan gain.

    I love this part:

As word spread through the gallery midway through the session that FEMA Director Michael D. Brown had quit, reporters knew the Roberts story would, once again, be a sideshow.

“THE BUSHIES DID IT AGAIN!!! THEY PLANNED IT THAT WAY SO THAT LOWLIFE RACIST ROBERTS COULDN’T BE EXPOSED FOR THE RADICAL ANTI-CHOICE MISOGYNIST BIGOT THAT HE IS!!!”

If only that was an isolated incident. I bet a lot of these people deciding the fate of countries are just phoning it in on a regular basis.

I think Coburn is in fact mentally ill. So I don’t find this funny, just sad.

As for Schumer, show me someone from New York City who doesn’t talk about themselve constantly and I’ll show you a recent immigrant.

4 of 6 responses include first person statements. I would never do that ;-)

Coburn is not only an embarressment to the Republican Party, he is also an embarressment to the Senate (and you have to go some to get there) but also an embarressment to the Human Race.

Maybe he is so Pro-Life because he is a walking, talking, living advertisment for birth control and, that failing, abortion.

Normally, a state will content itself with just one insane senator, countered by a competent one. But it’s good to see that Oklahoma doubled-down on the crazies. Coburn’s a loon, but the distinguished senior senator Inhofe isn’t much better.

Coburn’s puzzle was titled “Lesbians in the Classroom.” 6 down was a 6 letter word, starting with C and ending with rn, for “raving lunatic.”

One thing is nice about Tom Coburn.

Ted Kennedy is now off the hook for the butt of Senator jokes. :-)

Tom Coburn, the Junior Senator from the Olduvai Gorge, is a one-man ethnic group.

He was weeping for want of frontal lobes, and an opposed thumb to better manage his Farmer’s Almanac crossword puzzles.

Wow…….makes me wish I hadn’t worked so hard volunteering with the Coburn campaign. Sometimes, I want to kick myself over all the time I spent working for them and the rest of the Oklahoma Republican party.

Hey, don’t let this reflect on Oklahoma though. We aren’t all that crazy. Well not most of us anyway.

[…] Having said all that, this is a good sign, and as I bash Coburn with the best of them, he should get credit for this: […]

[…] Good. And kudos to Coburn, someone I have had little nice to say about in the past. He really has been advancing the ball on the out of control spending fight. […]
