Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Disappointing to see gov. newsom with his finger to the wind.

In my day, never was longer.

Fear and negativity are contagious, but so is courage!

Teach a man to fish, and he’ll sit in a boat all day drinking beer.

A tremendous foreign policy asset… to all of our adversaries.

Republicans: slavery is when you own me. freedom is when I own you.

The lights are all blinking red.

A norm that restrains only one side really is not a norm – it is a trap.

“The difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits.”

“Until such time as the world ends, we will act as though it intends to spin on.”

People are complicated. Love is not.

They spent the last eight months firing professionals and replacing them with ideologues.

The rest of the comments were smacking Boebert like she was a piñata.

So fucking stupid, and still doing a tremendous amount of damage.

Jack Smith: “Why did you start campaigning in the middle of my investigation?!”

You know it’s bad when the Project 2025 people have to create training videos on “How To Be Normal”.

It is not hopeless, and we are not helpless.

Dumb motherfuckers cannot understand a consequence that most 4 year olds have fully sorted out.

I’d hate to be the candidate who lost to this guy.

The truth is, these are not very bright guys, and things got out of hand.

Good lord, these people are nuts.

Too little, too late, ftfnyt. fuck all the way off.

Yeah, with this crowd one never knows.

After dobbs, women are no longer free.

Football Saturday Became Football Sunday and extended on to today. I am attending to some personal matters and will be back later.

Consider this an open thread to fill me in on things I may have missed.

If football saturday became football sunday you probably didn’t miss the fact that the steelers are the best team in the nfl

(Even if that fat bastard Peter King somehow has the Pats ranked ahead of the steelers)

    nothing else of signifigance happened

I don’t disagree with that, but I have to say that, granted they played two atrocious offensive teams, but it looks like Indy is finally getting a defense, which would make them pretty dangerous.

I have no loyalty to Indy whatsoever (I’m an Eagles fan), but it looks like signing Corey Simon (and watching the Colts/Ravens game last Sunday, I never thought Corey Simon’s ass could get any bigger than it was last season but it has) to take up room in the middle is really helping Freeney in particular and the defense in general.

    Here’s one you should like:

Cindy Sheehan (remember her?) is railing against Hilary Clinton for supporting the war. Cindy’s demanding, and I mean DEMANDING, that Hilary change her tune, pronto.

Is it too early for me to mention that West Virginia, even at home, will be lucky to play Louisville within three touchdowns?

If you think the cards are a bunch of hype, good. That will make it all the sweeter on October 15.

The mountaineers really need to keep winning though. Unfortunately, the Louisville schedule is weak, especially after Syracuse and Pitt have proven to be mediocre. So here is hoping (that’s what atheists do) the Mountaineers can go 10-1, and give the Cards that one quality win.

    Believe the Hype

    I will even be a homer two-fer.

I am looking forward to the Bungals (wait, I mean the Bengals) and the Steelers. Don’t get me wrong, the Steelers are the better team, but Cinci will be competitive, and I am predicting a split.

I am trying to think of a way to open myself up to more ridicule than this, but I am confident that a loyal cubs fan that is believing in a Bengals football team should capture the George Costanza ‘I am the world’s biggest idiot’ award.

    Things you may have missed:

Elections in Afghanistan and Germany. You know, freedom on the march and all that.

Clinton (Bill) launches withering attack on Bush. There’s some blogging grist for ya.

Also, Roethlisberger + Hines = delicious football.
