Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

A consequence of cucumbers

Reality always lies in wait for … Democrats.

The words do not have to be perfect.

Just because you believe it, that doesn’t make it true.

I’d hate to be the candidate who lost to this guy.

It’s always darkest before the other shoe drops.

… riddled with inexplicable and elementary errors of law and fact

Our job is not to persuade republicans but to defeat them.

“And when the Committee says to “report your income,” that could mean anything!

Fuck these fucking interesting times.

We’ll be taking my thoughts and prayers to the ballot box.

If you’re pissed about Biden’s speech, he was talking about you.

An unpunished coup is a training exercise.

A thin legal pretext to veneer over their personal religious and political desires

Not so fun when the rabbit gets the gun, is it?

They love authoritarianism, but only when they get to be the authoritarians.

Joe Lieberman disappointingly reemerged to remind us that he’s still alive.

Putting aside our relentless self-interest because the moral imperative is crystal clear.

Republicans choose power over democracy, every day.

We still have time to mess this up!

Accountability, motherfuckers.

Is it negotiation when the other party actually wants to shoot the hostage?

The party of Reagan has become the party of Putin.

Republican obstruction dressed up as bipartisanship. Again.

I guess the larger point is that John is watching Scrabble (with announcers) on ESPN.

Later today, John will post how he cleaned the windows using a can Krylon. :)

I was once shocked into catatonia one weeknight about 5 years ago when they televised a Magic Card tournament.

Here in Switzerland we are treated to endless rebroadcasts of Curling matches on Eurosport, which now look pretty good in comparison.

Last weekend ESPN wannabe network CSTV (college sports TV) had the National Debate Championships.

Resolved: Neither debates, scrabble nor spelling bees are sports.

I saw a documentary about pro scrabblers a while back. Believe it or not, it was fascinating. They’re every bit as strange as you might reasonably expect.
