Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Second rate reporter says what?

It is not hopeless, and we are not helpless.

In after Baud. Damn.

A norm that restrains only one side really is not a norm – it is a trap.

A snarling mass of vitriolic jackals

We’ve had enough carrots to last a lifetime. break out the sticks.

Come on, man.

Whatever happens next week, the fight doesn’t end.

Weird. Rome has an American Pope and America has a Russian President.

Sitting here in limbo waiting for the dice to roll

GOP baffled that ‘we don’t care if you die’ is not a winning slogan.

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

We can’t confuse what’s necessary to win elections with the policies that we want to implement when we do.

DeSantis transforming Florida into 1930s Germany with gators and theme parks.

When you’re a Republican, they let you do it.

When they say they are pro-life, they do not mean yours.

Disagreements are healthy; personal attacks are not.

We will not go quietly into the night; we will not vanish without a fight.

Take hopelessness and turn it into resilience.

Damn right I heard that as a threat.

Imperialist aggressors must be defeated, or the whole world loses.

Hot air and ill-informed banter

So many bastards, so little time.

You know it’s bad when the Project 2025 people have to create training videos on “How To Be Normal”.

And once again, the Steelers are not playing today, so I am all discombobulated.

Well, today is just the appetizer – replete with some playoff baseball.

Everything will feel normal again tomorrow night.

Don’t worry, John. Your boys are playing tomorrow night.

And too bad they are 7-point underdogs against the Chargers, my hometown team.

    Care for a little side-bet?

Look at it this way — with the MNF game, it’ll only be six days until the next Steelers game.

You could always watch a classic, 18-inning baseball playoff game won by Roger Clemens in relief on short rest, ended by a walkoff homer. Sure, it ain’t the Buccos, but it made my month!

You’re not kidding. What the hell is it with the Eagles and always losing the last game before their bye week?

And just as the TO bullshit was finally starting to die down, he decides to wear Michael Irvin throwback jersey after the game last night.

Oh, and MacB, I never did wager on the games i said liked Satruday, which is good because I would’ve lost them both.

And the Lions move back into undisputed posession of first place. What a juggernaut they are!

But how about JoPa’s boys?!! Did you end up going?

Two close losers there. The refs had an outrageous hand in Nebraska covering by a point (gifted Nebraska at least 15 points), and Cal choked in the last quarter with a 12-point lead. Every single one of the close ones went against me Saturday, but I still wound up just ahead — thanks to Louisville and E. Carolina (or more accurately, thanks to UNC and Rice for sucking).

I went and it was incredible. I’ve never heard Beaver Stadium that loud.

I know i said i thought they’d lose to OSU, but i’m kind of glass-half-empty guy when it comes to believing that Penn State is back. I’m scared to death of the Michigan game this week.

Michigan is having a down year, but they still have as much talent as any team in the country, except for USC and Texas.

Plus, PSU has had six games so far this year, and five of them were at home. The only road game they played was at Northwestern, and there were probably as many PSU fans there as Northwestern fans. Something tells me the Big House will be a little different.
