Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Everybody saw this coming.

A sufficient plurality of insane, greedy people can tank any democratic system ever devised, apparently.

Republicans are the party of chaos and catastrophe.

Speaking of republicans, is there a way for a political party to declare intellectual bankruptcy?

He seems like a smart guy, but JFC, what a dick!

Not loving this new fraud based economy.

All hail the time of the bunny!

So it was an October Surprise A Day, like an Advent calendar but for crime.

When I was faster i was always behind.

Fundamental belief of white supremacy: white people are presumed innocent, minorities are presumed guilty.

Dear Washington Post, you are the darkness now.

People are weird.

Let me file that under fuck it.

Everything is totally normal and fine!!!

Too often we confuse noise with substance. too often we confuse setbacks with defeat.

Nancy smash is sick of your bullshit.

Perhaps you mistook them for somebody who gives a damn.

A norm that restrains only one side really is not a norm – it is a trap.

People are complicated. Love is not.

These days, even the boring Republicans are nuts.

If you cannot answer whether trump lost the 2020 election, you are unfit for office.

They love authoritarianism, but only when they get to be the authoritarians.

A thin legal pretext to veneer over their personal religious and political desires.

… riddled with inexplicable and elementary errors of law and fact

Cleveland at Pittsburgh, 8pm EST.

From ESPN ‘s recap of last week’s Browns-Titans game:

With William Green and Lee Suggs injured, the Browns activated Wright from the practice squad on Thursday. After Dilfer hit Droughns underneath for 51 on the inside screen, Wright took a handoff and powered his way into the end zone for his first career TD, giving Cleveland a 17-7 lead.

It was also the Browns’ first rushing TD this season and their first since Nov. 28 of last season — a span of 50 quarters.

“I wasn’t thinking, I was running,” Wright said. “Then I thought, ‘Hey, that’s a touchdown.”

***Update***

Hines Ward breaks John Stallworth’s team reception record! 539 catches for the receivingest player in Pittsburgh history.

It’s frivolity to worry about what teams such as the Browns or the Steelers are doing. The Colts will reing supreme!

If Norman Chad wants a 16-0 Colts team, then I want a 16-0 team. Norman Chad rocks.

Of course, going 16-0 doesn’t really mean that much if you don’t go 19-0.

Yeah, especially once the playoffs get here, because we all know how big Peyton comes up in games that matter.

After watching last night’s varied QB performances, I retract my earlier concern about Randle El getting smacked around and vote him into whatever QB spot gets him into the game ahead of Maddox.

I also suggest they ask for volunteers from the stands, if necessary, and put them in ahead of Maddox.

Mostly, I just want Ben back.

So the Vikings went 4-5 after beating the Giants 24-21. Anyone see how they did it? Smoke and mirros raised to a new level. I was impressed and depressed at the same time.

Why aren’t we hearing any of the *good* new about the Browns’ anemic running game?
