Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Republicans seem to think life begins at the candlelight dinner the night before.

If you are still in the gop, you are either an extremist yourself, or in bed with those who are.

They think we are photo bombing their nice little lives.

DeSantis transforming Florida into 1930s Germany with gators and theme parks.

The words do not have to be perfect.

Yeah, with this crowd one never knows.

Shallow, uninformed, and lacking identity

Weird. Rome has an American Pope and America has a Russian President.

It is possible to do the right thing without the promise of a cookie.

Every reporter and pundit should have to declare if they ever vacationed with a billionaire.

They punch you in the face and then start crying because their fist hurts.

They are lying in pursuit of an agenda.

I desperately hope that, yet again, i am wrong.

Let’s delete this post and never speak of this again.

“A king is only a king if we bow down.” – Rev. William Barber

Just because you believe it, that does not make it true.

The Supreme Court cannot be allowed to become the ultimate, unaccountable arbiter of everything.

No one could have predicted…

A democracy can’t function when people can’t distinguish facts from lies.

American history and black history cannot be separated.

Take hopelessness and turn it into resilience.

Jesus watching the most hateful people claiming to be his followers

Peak wingnut was a lie.

They love authoritarianism, but only when they get to be the authoritarians.

Be well, John. We look forward to your return as an unrepentant shill for the Bush Administration, or, alternatively, a pawn for the deranged and shrill moonbats of the left. As you prefer.

Enjoy the break. We’re behaving ourselves more or less.

We’re all headed over to Stormy’s for barbecque later.

Hopefully Stormy is not busy watching The People’s Court.

So we’re finally hearing the *good news* about John feeling swamped and unmotivated.

How come we never hear the good news about John’s insomnia?

So Tim’s busy, and John’s pooped out. I think we’ll be suffering new-topic withdrawal for a few days, kids!

How soon will it be that either Mr. Cole decides his lefty commentators are too upity and need some of his special brand of loving, or something pisses him off and he just feels compelled to write about it?

I say we take a poll, but in taking the poll, we effectively modify the system that we are trying to observe, therefore changing its behavior.

    Never mind.

    Too highbrow.

Here is what is on deck for tonight seeing as how I just got home from work:
    Des. Housewives (from last night)
    Surface (Sea monsters!)
Las Vegas (utter trash, but pretty and shiny)
CSI Miami (I like criminal violence in my TV shows)
Medium (Work of the Devil! but still a very good show)
Plus, I have four episodes of 24 that recorded this morning.
This does not include the backlog of Criminal Minds, of which there are 6. Yes, I am slightly addicted to my DVR. What of it? I can quit anytime.

Um, yeah…about the barbeque, bring buckets of beer.

I already need a beer, if that is how the posting is going for me tonight.

If we were roommates (or a couple), we’d constantly be scrapping over what to watch. I don’t watch any of those. I watched D.Housewives last season, but just can’t seem to work up an interest in it this season.

I vastly enjoy Tuesday night NBC (which I think is moving to Thursdays?) The Office, My Name is Earl, and Boston Legal. Round that out with the Sunday night toon-fest, and my viewing needs are satisfied. My only Monday night requirement is Corner Gas. (A Canadian show that’s actually funny!)

The Office, My Name is Earl,

I watch those, plus Amazing Race and Bones. Boreanz is haute!
SVU will be rerun 10,000 times over the summer so I can skip it.
I tried with Boston Legal, I really tried. It grew stale, and lord knows my standards are not that high. It really lost me.

Nip Tuck is required viewing, of course.
