Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

The unpunished coup was a training exercise.

Come on, man.

We know you aren’t a Democrat but since you seem confused let me help you.

The snowflake in chief appeared visibly frustrated when questioned by a reporter about egg prices.

Why is it so hard for them to condemn hate?

Relentless negativity is not a sign that you are more realistic.

Republicans firmly believe having an abortion is a very personal, very private decision between a woman and J.D. Vance.

Dear media: perhaps we ought to let Donald Trump speak for himself!

When I decide to be condescending, you won’t have to dream up a fantasy about it.

We cannot abandon the truth and remain a free nation.

You can’t attract Republican voters. You can only out organize them.

The Supreme Court cannot be allowed to become the ultimate, unaccountable arbiter of everything.

Radicalized white males who support Trump are pitching a tent in the abyss.

DeSantis transforming Florida into 1930s Germany with gators and theme parks.

Perhaps you mistook them for somebody who gives a damn.

The rest of the comments were smacking Boebert like she was a piñata.

We will not go back.

No one could have predicted…

The desire to stay informed is directly at odds with the need to not be constantly enraged.

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

There is no right way to do the wrong thing.

I desperately hope that, yet again, i am wrong.

We’re watching the self-immolation of the leading world power on a level unprecedented in human history.

Jesus, Mary, & Joseph how is that election even close?

Compare and Contrast

At first, this seemed a little odd as a campaign technique:

Young members of the Mahdi Army, Shiite cleric Moqtada Sadr’s militia, flagellate themselves as they pass election posters in Baghdad. Photo Credit: By Ellen Knickmeyer — The Washington Post

But then I remembered that our candidates have a long history of self-flagellation:

So maybe we are not all that different after all.

In all seriousness, this is an interesting piece in the WaPo about Iraqi political parties embracing the electoral process.

Actually, this is a far more appropriate pict. I realize you didn’t use it because you’re a partisan shill, but still… :-)

You libertarians sure are a bit sharper than the conservatives you spawned from.

Say what you like about Howard…http://www.tnr.com/doc.mhtml?pt=Vff%2BA3onh%2FX7dvdZiZxXBG%3D%3D

He might piss people off, but he’s right more often than most of the folks in our government.

Honest, emotional and excited. We wouldn’t want any of that in Washington, would we?

We get the government we deserve. (Well, you Republicans do. I didn’t sign on for this shit…)

I guess, John, you would prefer a candidate with Joe-mentum.

Until you can tell me what victory is and when and how we will achieve it, Dean is right and you are wrong.

Geez John, couldn’t you have at least Photoshopped a whip into Dean’s hand or something? How lazy.

The kneejerk “nuh-uh” responses to attempts at humor on this site get really, really, really tiresome.

Amen, but don’t blame it all on the republicans. Dean was torpedoed by his fellow dems. Honest, emotional and excited are just not “electable” qualities, hence, we wound up with the “electable” John Kerry, who one cannot accuse of being honest, emotional or excited

Good one, I think I’ll use that here in Philly, only substitute Democrats for Republicans.

Well, if the attempts at humor were actually any good, you wouldn’t be getting the kneejerk reactions.

It made me a smile. Took a little of the sting off being outed at JustOneMinute. One of the posters here went over and stabbed me in the back.

Anon ratted me out. Then I told them it was a different DougJ, which amazingly they bought. But then they were suspicious and one of them checked me out on google (a week later) and found out I was reporting back here on my trolling over there.

Here’s where anon ratted me out

    http://justoneminute.typepad.com/main/2005/12/sometimes_nothi.html

Here’s where one of the brigher ones (Cecil Turner) figured it all out

    http://justoneminute.typepad.com/main/2005/12/dems_in_disarra.html#comments

It was interesting to see their response. One was cool and thought it was funny. The rest were indignant.

I just do not regret, even a little bit, all the time I put into Dr. Dean’s candidacy. He would have been magnificent. Hell, he is magnificent, just on a smaller scale.

    There’s self-flagellation. Then, there’s self-congratulation.

America is all about having choices. I haven’t seen much of the self-congratulating, self-justifying lying mealy-mouthed qualities in Dean that I see in most politicians.

I can only assume that this is why so many politicians, and blogsters, can’t stand him.

And it’s exactly why I like him. Give me more yellers and fewer of these self-back-patters we’re stuck with now.

Hey, at least when Dean screamed, he wasn’t saying “Misson Accomplished”. But no, I take that back. Rehashing an old imagine like that would be silly and childish as it has absolutely nothing to do with the discussion at hand.

… Yep, sure sounds like we better hurry up and skedaddle before the whole place collapses around our ears. Howie, you got them white flags ready?
