Haha. Well damn.

This is so Darrell. I miss Darrell this week.
Funny story. After Christmas I went out and got the boxed set of Angel with my Christmas money. Then I watched Seasons 2 and 3 of Buffy to get warmed up. When my husband went into his office, a boxed set of Angel was there. My “adopted” Brother-in-law had gotten for me for Christmas. Since mine was still unopened, I took it back to Costco. Weird. I have 110 episodes of Angel to watch now. It’s Angel-crack and I am adicted.
Dork fest over.
For now.

Here is the source of Johnny Cole’s soiling fit. It contains evidence that the GOP corruption scandal is having an effect on the voter’s perceptions the Republican Party, and that they might not be voting for them in very large numbers this fall.

Dude, John’s a liberal.
Paddy O'Shea
Next to you Stormy, George Lincoln Rockwell was a liberal.
slide
. I think John thinks of himself as a libertarian not a liberal but compared to you stormy Atilla the Hun was a liberal.
Perry Como
Being President is hard work.
Zifnab
Liberal? Conservative? John’s just old school. I’m not sure what that means, but I feel confident that he’s it.
Stormy70
It’s a joke, people. But I realize Slide and Paddy are too serious for jokes. Gotta keep up the OUTRAGE!
But really, you guys can’t dampen my Angel fetish today.
Clever
While Buffy and Angel are all well and good, I have one word for you all…
BATTLESTAR
I was wondering what would fill my TV void when Buffy and Enterprise [hey, I liked it well enough] were gone, and I am pleasantly surprised at how fraking good BG is.
Pooh
Paddy, that ain’t right. (Then again sometimes neither are you…)
neil
Ha! Try getting a picture of your cat on the front page now, Paddy!
Paddy O'Shea
You kidding? That broad eats cats.
Pooh
Clever, I’ve been hearing that everywhere.
Compare with Firefly/Serenity (which I just finished rewatching. Good god that show was good…)
John Cole
Behave, Paddy. I didn’t soil myself with the previous pol, because quite honestly, polls outside of march-november of an election year are pointless. I just get tired of your obvious threadjacking attempts.
Now stop with the other crap (the girlfriend pic) and behave. You have your open thread, do something productive with it. Surely there is a Dkos diary or an Eschaton post that you feel the rest of us have missed, or an online MSNBC poll saying Bush should be impeached that Atrios and the DU have freeped. Hop to it. here is your big chance to shine.
John Cole
I mean honestly, Paddy. How long after Atrios posts something do you wait before you come post it in the comments here?
2 minutes? 5? 20?
Paddy O'Shea
Sorry John, but I’m going back to the original thread. That JT Snow trade is big news to me.
Uberweiss
Steelers 31 – Bunguls 10. Can’t wait till Sunday. The playoffs are back. My favorite part of the year. Any predictions my friends?

NFC Wild Card:
Tampa over Washington, Giants over Panthers
AFC Wild Card:
Steelers over Bengals, New England over Jacksonville

Here’s something that has been bothering me. When I was a lad me dear old pappy had a thing about his sons laying about in bed when they could be out working and bettering themselves.
He had 2 choice terms for the things involved in sleeping. A bed, to him, was a “fart sack.” And pajamas were known as “fart suits.”
I swear that everytime I see that Pajamas Media logo I think back to my dear old dad and his problem with fart suits.
Anybody else have that kind of reaction?
Uberweiss
Not so much with the bed Paddy. However, whenever people start singing Bush’s praises it always makes me think of my dear old uncle who we had to put in a insane asylum.
Halffasthero
Do you know what I hate?
Rhetorical questions.
Carry on.

At another more raucus site I inhabit (it is attached to a metal music board) we were discussing finding a “sexy” name for the moderate middle. Moonbats and wingnuts don’t give the middle any respect. Thw middle needs their own moniker. It would give them a “place” of their own. Instead of getting labeled Dino/Rino or fence sitter (yawn), they could then say “Hey, fuck you! I’m a (insert name) here” when someone says they don’t stand for anything or misidentifies them as a bat or a wing. A way to be fiestier.
Any good suggestions?
Paddy O'Shea
Capelza: Sphincters. They’re stretchy, adaptable and can accomodate just about anything, in or out.
Stormy70
I need to see a series from the beginning. I can’t jump in midstream. Do you know when they will be running the 1st season again? I may have to keep an eye out this summer when they tend to rerun series. I did that with 24, and have progressed to Season 4, which starts Monday on A&E. This way, I can Tivo Season 5 and watch it after Season 4 is over.
TV is hard.
Stormy70
Hah! {snifter clink}
Wishy-washy.
capelza
Paddy…I thought that name was already taken by politicans.
Stormy..why are they wishy washy? Seriously. They are looking for someone who believes like they do. Because of the two party system, they go back and forth depending, but never happy with either side.
Stormy70
I was just being snarky. I am pretty middle ground, being pro-choice (with regulations), pro gay marriage, pro-legalization of some drugs, etc.
Stormy70
Oh yeah. I really enjoy sex and violence on my TV.
Paddy O'Shea
Stormy: Do you date John?
Uberweiss
Please tell me you are not be sarcastic.
Davebo
I’m coming out as officially pro Vince Young and anyone who doesn’t agree will be whisked away to Gitmo!
capelza
We come together like that Stormy…if we could somehow get Naveen Andrews distilled into a name for moderates then the sexy would be on!
Pooh
Somehow I don’t think that “The Sayid Party” has a lot of mileage around here.
jg
Careful! You don’t want to damage the TV now. LOL
capelza
Hahahahaa…true.
Pooh
How about the Liger Party?
Stormy70
Oh yes. I don’t care what Naveen thinks about, just as long as he brings the pretty and shiny.
Gutter People!
Here is the mascot. Sweet!
jolly
Sorry, torturing innocent people and accepting corruption as the norm is hardly middle ground.

“2 minutes? 5? 20?”
That’s more Q&A than Bush gave the past eminences the other day. It took Eagleburger longer than that to get out of the car!
Halffasthero
Has anyone else ever noticed that things are a lot more like they are now than they used to be?
Something to think about.
Carry on.
I love open threads.

We also might want to open the floor to discussion of whether “lighting up Palestine” is a moderate position.

MSNBC is going bigtime with the AP/Ipsos Congressional Poll story that caused John Cole so much discomfort.
(Hope he’s not taking it out on those nice kitties!)

It would be the sexy party! (Oh wait, Seth McFarlane already stole that idea…)
How about…the Rational Party of America? RPA? Motto: extremism is for the unimaginative.

Aren’t these working vacations? Aren’t these just a way for him to get away from Washington so he can get some work done? His schedule in Washington must be filled with a lot of nonsense. Sure they show him clearing shrub but that’s something he would still be able to on work days.
The Other Steve
Farming brush is hard work! You ever worked on a brush farm before? It’s a never ending struggle to keep the land clear!
Think of how much work it’d be if he actually had animals, or was planting crops. You know, like real ranchers and farmers do.
MAX HATS
Reading this stuff makes me want to get a hobby slightly less gay. Like anal sex. With a man. Whom I love. Dearly. You know, nothing too queer.

Don’t democrats lead in all these polls all the time? When it comes time to walking into a voting booth more people will hold their noses and vote for republicans, as opposed to holding their noses and voting for Democrats. They’re both sick, bloated, and corrupt party’s, however the republicans actually believe in the concept of capitalism and the concept of national defense. The democrats believe in the democrats (I don’t think they believe any of the bullshit they spout).
donald
OOH, one more for Jolly…Corruption as the norm huh? I don’t know, something about missle technology to China, The Aaaron Tonknen case, ah hell, what does it matter huh? You have no grasp of reality, you’re just bleating out whatever is at the top of your mind. Glass houses baby, glass houses. The corruption of the Democratic and Reopublican partys is sickening, you just need to be honest about the whole thing.
Paddy O'Shea
Well, it happened. After the extreme anger exhibited by John Cole yesterday over some poll posting, many here expressed fear that a domestic violence incident was possible.
The NSA tapes are now in, and he did it. He beat those lovely little kitties.
(Warning: Contains sounds of helpless little creatures suffering unspeakable acts of cruelty. Listen at your own risk!)

Start a war based on lies.
Cut taxes for the very wealthy.
Attempt to cover part of those tax cuts by cutting programs for the poor, working class, and middle class.
Ignore signs of an impending attack.
Create a welfare program for pharmaceutical companies.
Incompetent cronies placed in important positions.
Etc. etc.
Congratulations, asshole. Your prez is doing a heck of a job.

Washington Post is running with the AP-Ipsos Poll today. GOPs look like they’re in big trouble for 2006.

Question for everybody:
What do people think are the right rules for when and how to unmask an effective sock puppet?
capelza
Krista..I love the motto! I’m stealing it…:)
Paddy O'Shea
capelza: And how long do you think it will be before someone shortens that one to “Rats?”
capelza
Paddy, I don’t think so..that moniker is already given to the DemocRATS. It’s the motto though that is cool. The middle gets no respect.
capelza
Oh, btw..Delay has officially stepped down from the House Majority Leader position.
Paddy O'Shea
Yeah, saw that. Maybe old Tom’s finally coming to a better appreciation of reality.
Who knows, maybe the G-Men will wire DeLay up and send him over to visit some of the folks at the White House.
I’m sure it would be an interesting conversation.
capelza
Somehow I don’t think that Tommy boy will be visiting the WH.
Remember how Ken Lay was suddenly someone Bush really didn’t know very well after Lay got in trouble. And Bush is probably pissed that Delay will drag him down further. Bush has stepped up to the plate publically for Delay more than once…why I do not know.
Paddy O'Shea
I hate it when old friendships die over something as foolish as politics.
Can’t they just remember the good times?
The Other Steve
Let me know when he resigns and goes back to hunting cockroaches.

As opposed to just being one? I’m feeling some Kafkaesque metaphors coming on.

The Disenfranchised Voter
The Libertarian Party believes in the concept of national defense. The Republican Party believes in the concept of International Offense.
Don’t confuse the two.
