Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Let us savor the impending downfall of lawless scoundrels who richly deserve the trouble barreling their way.

A last alliance of elves and men. also pet photos.

No Justins, No Peace

Today’s GOP: why go just far enough when too far is right there?

If you’re pissed about Biden’s speech, he was talking about you.

They fucked up the fucking up of the fuckup!

Putin dreamed of ending NATO, and now it’s Finnish-ed.

Give the craziest people you know everything they want and hope they don’t ask for more? Great plan.

Republicans seem to think life begins at the candlelight dinner the night before.

My years-long effort to drive family and friends away has really paid off this year.

Let’s delete this post and never speak of this again.

I’d try pessimism, but it probably wouldn’t work.

I’ve spoken to my cat about this, but it doesn’t seem to do any good.

A consequence of cucumbers

… pundit janitors mopping up after the GOP

Republicans choose power over democracy, every day.

Republicans do not pay their debts.

A sufficient plurality of insane, greedy people can tank any democratic system ever devised, apparently.

“woke” is the new caravan.

Take your GOP plan out of the witness protection program.

rich, arrogant assholes who equate luck with genius

Republicans are the party of chaos and catastrophe.

Let’s not be the monsters we hate.

Come on, media. you have one job. start doing it.

I will be back this afternoon with something to say, but for now, what the hell is up with all the spam e-mail I have been getting at my gmail account? It has quadrupled in the past two weeks.

You may be a victim of a spambot, if you posted your gmail address here (or elsewhere) — vile little creatures swarm all over the web, grabbing anything that looks like an e-mail address.

Spammers expend a lot of energy studying the major anti-spam systems. It sounds like Google’s GMail filter has been beaten.

Join the club, John. You, me, and a host of people I know said that in the past few days, the spam on gmail has been 2-to-3 times what it normally is.

It’s because we haven’t instituted the death penalty for spammers. Yet.

Interestingly, although my GMail account has an easily discoverable name, I haven’t seem an increase in SPAM. I wonder why?

I maybe get 1-2 spam emails a week that get by the gmail spam filter.

Never give your email address to anyone! You’re just asking for email!

The only people who regularly get past my Yahoo filter are the evil gnomes at virgilio.it. I effing hate virgilio.it.

As much as I despise spam, at least once in while I get e-mails from some interesting names. Over the years, I’ve received offers from, among others, Pantheism A. Iffy, Onassis C. Supposes, Padlocked H. Gregorio, Lambasted C. Spigot, Embarrassment M. Theorist, and Opinionated R. Ingenuousness.

    Opinionated R. Ingenuousness

And we all know what the “R” stands for, don’t we?

    Heh.

I think the real reason why Gmail is seeing an increase in spam is because the FBI, being so strapped for cash, has cut back on email services (the .gov accounts) for their agents… so the FBI agents are forced to register for free email such as Gmail… and the terrorists, being as evil as spammers, have allied themselves with said spammers to hinder the FBI’s ability to have lean and accessible email inboxes. Dude, I can’t be making this up, trust me!

I think it has something to do with DougJ.
