What Rusty said.

Saddam’s verdict to be announced two days before midterm elections. Naturally, I assume that the usual suspects of the Wingnut Brigade will join me in decrying the obvious politicizing of this trial and verdict. The timing is clearly meant to maximize political impact, and therefore, it is damn dirty pool and must be stopped.

My fantasy team sucks.
Rex Grossman's Mom
I demand a Bears Thread tomorrow after they go 56-3 on the Cardinals tonite. Us Bears fans need our space to give props, pimp, and pump the best team in the NFL. Best D. Best O. Best coach’s first name. Best city. And the bestest QB since McMahon.
MrSnrub
You must have picked the Eagles.
Gold Star for Robot Boy
Mine too.
no, just a bunch of underachievers – such as Hines Ward. John, you’re on scene – what’s Ward’s problem (aside from yesterday)?
SeesThroughIt
He’s got a bad hamstring.
Punchy
He’s got a quarterback that sucks (aside from yesterday)

Stillers? How ’bout them Tigers!
Gold Star for Robot Boy
Bad hammy, bad QB. Ugh.
And, I’ve got Anquan Boldin – rookie QB working behind the Swiss cheese O-line
Richard Bennett
Tigers are the best team in baseball right now, that’s for sure. Only a Team of Destiny could beat the A’s like those boys did, that’s for sure. They may as well just give them the WS trophy right now and avoid the fuss, because that silly NL could put their all star team up against the Puddy Tats and still lose.
Pharniel
go tigers.
and lions.
and bears tonight, oh my!
ThymeZone
So, if I understand the GOP correctly here, thousands have died so that the Republicans can have a campaign commercial. I guess they are still riding that “Mission Accomplished” wave of adulation.
ThymeZone
For those of you who haven’t seen him play yet, meet Matt Leinart. This kid is going to be a star in the NFL.
Maybe not enough to turn the crummy Cardinals into winners, but still.
Richard Bennett
You mean it wasn’t for the oil?
Damn.
ThymeZone
Why don’t you tell us what it was for?
mrmobi
TZ, Matt Leinart did everything but beat us tonight. I just watched the most bizarre pro football game I’ve ever seen. I don’t know how we did it, but… DA BEARRRRRRRRRS!
Seriously, though, Leinart is already a star in this league, I don’t know if he’ll stay with Arizona, but whoever get hims will be very lucky if he decides to go somewhere else.
Now, the Bears just have to locate and reactivate their offense, and keep Brian Urlacher as healthy as possible.
Damn!
scs
I’m watching Larry King and I still think John Mark Karr could be guilty. Just because the DNA didn’t match didn’t mean it wasn’t him, as the DNA could be some contaminant. They just need to figure out how he got to Boulder that year.
This is an open thread, and I can post on whatever I want, right?
jg
And now my fantasy team is 1-5.
ThymeZone
Uh, yeah, you beat a team that beat itself, has lost two of three games for eighteen years, has had one winning season in eighteen years, a team that so far this year hasn’t been able to block or tackle, which are, oddly, two important things in football.
The Bears got a courtesy win, and really, didn’t impress me at all. This is the best team in the NFL? Well, you just got a free win from the worst team in the NFL, which manages to be the worst even with the likes of Matt Leinart playing for them. He’s a star, that’s for sure. I just wonder what team he will someday win a Super Bowl for. It won’t be this crummy losing organization, that’s for sure. They left millions on the salary cap table, and can’t win for lack of an offensive line that can play in this league. As near as I can tell the team exists just to make money for the asshole Bidwell family.
Chuck Butcher
I started rooting for the Tigers in the early 60s, seemed like a long time between good times. Until the All Star break they were no question the Best Team in Baseball with an avg to kill for. Then the slide. Then the Yanks and beat the A’s like a cheap drum. An opening loss to the Yanks and win every game since, holy mackeral.
Man is it nice to see a low buck team kick ass.
Richard Bennett
Low buck team? The Tiggers have an $85M payroll, which ain’t exactly the Yankers ($205M) but is a damn sight better than the Mighty A’s ($65M) and the Central Division Champion Twinkies ($66M).
The second $100M doesn’t do much in baseball, but the first $100M makes a difference, ’cause guys like Polanco, Ordonez, Pudgie, and The Gambler don’t come cheap.
Richard Bennett
I think we all know the answer to this:
Clearly, it was to get the commies out of Viet Nam.
demimondian
SCS, the quality of your spoofs is falling. Really, John Mark Carr? Are you that desperate?
Punchy
To each their own. Hey, our offense sucked. BAD. Grossman was gross, man. But our D is UNFUCKINGBELIEVABLE. And since it’s a team game, I’m going to give our team a B- for last nite’s performance. I’m impressed….when they absolutely needed turnovers, they got ’em. Monsters of the Midway indeed.
What sucks is that I have Rackers on my fantasy team, and I’m afraid these misses will start effin’ with this head. Ok, Neil, go back to the basics.
ThymeZone
Mission accomplished!
ThymeZone
Ahem.
mrmobi
I couldn’t agree more. Overall, we did suck. Hopefully, this will inject some reality into future game plans. Grossman is still a young inexperienced QB.
I still don’t believe we didn’t lose that game. Did you see Denny Green at the press conference? When he was leaving the field, it looked like his head was going to explode. It did so in the press room. He’s a good coach, and the Cardinals had an excellent game plan.
You know what, we’ll take it. Another W. But let’s put those SuperBowl plans on hold for a while, eh? I sure hope we don’t start spotting teams 20+ points and expect to win in this league. People here in Chicago have had their expectations adjusted after this experience.
demimondian
Ahem, indeed.

How bout them Saints.
