Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

America is going up in flames. The NYTimes fawns over MAGA celebrities. No longer a real newspaper.

We can show the world that autocracy can be defeated.

How stupid are these people?

… pundit janitors mopping up after the gop

They are not red states to be hated; they are voter suppression states to be fixed.

Perhaps you mistook them for somebody who gives a damn.

The cruelty is the point; the law be damned.

This must be what justice looks like, not vengeful, just peaceful exuberance.

A sufficient plurality of insane, greedy people can tank any democratic system ever devised, apparently.

Republican also-rans: four mules fighting over a turnip.

Speaking of republicans, is there a way for a political party to declare intellectual bankruptcy?

You cannot shame the shameless.

Is it irresponsible to speculate? It is irresponsible not to.

The Supreme Court cannot be allowed to become the ultimate, unaccountable arbiter of everything.

If you tweet it in all caps, that makes it true!

One way or another, he’s a liar.

The Giant Orange Man Baby is having a bad day.

I did not have this on my fuck 2025 bingo card.

Accused of treason; bitches about the ratings. I am in awe.

Prediction: the gop will rethink its strategy of boycotting future committees.

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

When your entire life is steeped in white supremacy, equality feels like discrimination.

If you voted for Trump, you don’t get to speak about ethics, morals, or rule of law.

The fundamental promise of conservatism all over the world is a return to an idealized past that never existed.

Congrats to any USC fans out there. Now pardon me while I burn Ben Roethlisberger in effigy (for some reason this comes to mind) and then drown my sorrows in Australian Pinot Noir, brie and pate.

I just ate a big piece of cake, because food will cure my post-game depression. I know it will.

Two buddies of mine live in Baltimore. They are gonna have a long-ass week.

Don’t hang all this on Ben. It was a total team effort. And you;ve heard Polamalu (who played with actual fire) suffered a “significant” knee injury? Total disaster.

I am going to fricking kill the Patriots. 5 turnovers! 5? 5!

At least they just redeemed themselves with an interception.

    And Saddam was worse.

OK, I take that all back. Lucky end of game there. That was some crappy football.

Um, I think someone here also shows support for the West Virginia Mountineers. Or at least they used to before my Masters alma mater of USF showed up…

I think it will be a USC Ohio State matchup but I firmly believe Michigan should be there first. The only loss they have is a 3 point loss to OSU in OSU.

Anyway, it came under the category of “it figures” that Iowa was picked over Minnesota for the Alamo Bowl. Not sure what they have against Minnesota. They have done this a couple times now.

And here I used to think that there was no greater shame than having been on the faculty of Florida Atlantic. Thanks, Paul…

Michigan had their shot. They lost. USC hasn’t had their shot at Ohio State. Neither has Florida. Same goes for Boise State. And Michigan deserves another go?

This… is why they need a playoff system. Win it on the field, not in the minds of the talking heads on ESPN Sports Reporters.

American lefties maybe. Many Europeans, and myself, prefer sauvignon blanc, pinot gris, gewurtz etc. when a red won’t do, and on my table a red will always do. Well almost always. You can’t cook mussels in red wine.

Nebraska Vs. Oklahoma for the Big Eight Twelve title!!! Go Huskers! Just like old times, except that Nebraska has this “West coast offense” thingie. Something to do with the ball being thrown forward – or “passed” if you will – to people known as “receivers.” The whole thing sounds a bit too fancy for me…

The Michigan – Ohio State game was outstanding, but I think a USC – Ohio State matchup would be even better, so I’m ok with that one. Despite how close the game ended, I didn’t think the Michigan offense was quite up to the task of keeping up with Ohio State. I don’t think you can say the same of the USC offense. Problem might be the USC defense.

By the way, “The Other Steve”, thanks for proving beyond a shadow of a doubt who is the biggest asswipe to comment at Balloon Juice. I recommend you try getting through even one day without defiling a thread here with your utter stupidity, let alone one that has no connection whatsoever to your pet issue of the moment. Isn’t there an Open Thread somewhere for you to post your drivel ???

TWOC, oh what a hoot. Man you are one funny dude. Ha ha ha. Side splitting, I tell ya. Retard.

The ghost of Kordell Stewart will haunt Steeler fans for decades to come.

The guy won us a Superbowl just last year and already people want to burn him at the stake?

Kordell is to blame for this lack of trust mentality Stellers fans have.

    Burn Kordell in effegy instead.

Ben will be back next year.

    Count on it.
