Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

There are a lot more evil idiots than evil geniuses.

Giving in to doom is how we fail to fight for ourselves & one another.

Just because you believe it, that does not make it true.

New McCarthy, same old McCarthyism.

Some judge needs to shut this circus down soon.

Dear legacy media: you are not here to influence outcomes and policies you find desirable.

“What are Republicans afraid of?” Everything.

If rights aren’t universal, they are privilege, not rights.

A thin legal pretext to veneer over their personal religious and political desires.

Trumpflation is an intolerable hardship for every American, and it’s Trump’s fault.

One lie, alone, tears the fabric of reality.

There is no compromise when it comes to body autonomy. You either have it or you do not.

Giving in to doom is how authoritarians win.

Bad people in a position to do bad things will do bad things because they are bad people. End of story.

Beware of advice from anyone for whom Democrats are “they” and not “we.”

Let there be snark.

There are no moderate republicans – only extremists and cowards.

Never entrust democracy to any process that requires Republicans to act in good faith.

Something needs to be done about our bogus SCOTUS.

That’s my take and I am available for criticism at this time.

Republicans choose power over democracy, every day.

“In the future, this lab will be a museum. do not touch it.”

President Musk and Trump are both poorly raised, coddled 8 year old boys.

Only Democrats have agency, apparently.

I had no idea she was fighting cancer again, so this was a complete shock.

Funny, smart, and tough as nails – she will be damn near impossible to replace.

Sad day for the American Free Press.

RIP Molly — you will be missed.

An American original. She and Lewis Grizzard could use the English language in ways it wasn’t intended, and make it work. But she had loftier ambitions than Lewis.

Both, alas, were taken from us much too early. In a better world, Molly would be scolding us from her rocking chair twenty years from now. Such was not to be, I suppose.

I knew she was dying when she went home Monday. It was pretty clear at that time that there was nothing more that could be done, and she was going home to die in her own bed, not in some sterile hospital room punctured by tubes. From the newspaper article, it seems that is exactly what she did.

If ever there were a time we needed her wit and wisdom, it is certainly now.

    A tremendous loss.

You have to appreciate a woman who writes a book about her bout with cancer and titles it “Who Needs Breasts Anyway?.

I heart Molly and she will be missed…

We all knew it was coming. Third time seems to be the charm these days with cancer.

Sadly I also lost another friend this week to it so Molly makes is just a bit harder.

Ann Richards, and now Molly. We’ll need some authentic women to take the place of these two no BS plain talkin gals with the right drawl.

Have the celebrations started at Red State, LGF, Freeperville, etc?
All that’s left now is Helen Thomas.

I like to think that she and Ann Richards are out there somewhere raising hell. That or tormenting the restless ghost of Dick Nixon.

I miss Molly already. She simultaneously was every cheesy Texas stereotype rolled into one and broke every mold there was to break. A complicated and beautiful woman, and a powerful voice that moved me many times.

Yeah the celebrations have started in Freeperville. Sick. Just sick. Some people have nothing but hate where God intended there to be a soul.

It’s a shame she had to spend the last years of her life watching W trash the country she loved so dearly.

    RIP, Molly.

Well, I can’t say I’m surprised about hate emanating from freepervile etc., but I am saddened. Reading the comments from your link BadTux, well, it seems that along with Molly it is also irony that is dead.*

Regarding the hate emanating from Freeperville, I hope I have the good grace to hold my tongue when a hack like, say, Krauthammer dies.
