Note to Terry Moran- to see what people who really practice hate speech do, read this:

In a bizarre attack, a well-known author and Holocaust scholar was dragged out of a San Francisco hotel elevator by an apparent Holocaust denier who reportedly had been trailing him for weeks.

Police escorted Elie Wiesel to San Francisco International Airport on Feb. 1 after a man accosted Wiesel in the elevator at the Argent Hotel, at 50 Third St., after Wiesel participated in a panel discussion at a peace conference and before Wiesel was scheduled to catch a flight back to New York.

Wiesel, a Holocaust survivor and author of more than 40 books, including the memoir “Night,” about his experiences at Auschwitz, won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1986. Last fall, the Boston University professor was suggested as a possible replacement for Israeli President Moshe Katsav, who faces sexual assault charges.

Police confirmed this week that the attack took place and that officers escorted Wiesel to the airport following the attack. According to police, the suspect accosted Wiesel in the hotel elevator at around 6:30 p.m., saying he wanted to interview him. Wiesel said he would do the interview in the lobby. That’s when the attacker pulled him out of the elevator, police reported.

In a posting Tuesday on the anti-Zionist Web site ZioPedia, a writer using the name Eric Hunt takes credit for the attack: “After ensuring no women would be traumatized by what I had to do (I had been trailing Wiesel for weeks), I stopped the elevator at the sixth floor. I pulled Wiesel out of the elevator. I said I wanted to interview him.”

Holocaust deniers in 2007. Boggles the mind.

    Wow, that guy is seriously unhinged.

    I pulled Wiesel out of the elevator. I said I wanted to interview him. He protested, grabbed at
    his chest as if he was having a heart attack. He then screamed HELP! HELP! at the top of his lungs. This is someone who in his public appearances, speaks so softly, that when he appeared on Oprah, they had to use subtitles throughout. Wiesel had dropped this phony persona and assumed his actual personality, of an insane lunatic.

    Don’t you hate it when the girl’s giving you all the right signals, practically begging for it, and just when you make your move she starts shouting, “I’m only 13! I’m only 13!”

    Okay, how about if we substitute “Christian”? It’s not an ethnicity, but rather a system of beliefs and values, much like liberalism. Would it be okay to advocate, even jokingly, the extermination of all but a few christians?

    “Let’s just say that global warming deniers are now on a par with Holocaust deniers”

    That seems like clear cut example of hate speech. To compare scientists to Hitler because you don’t like their research—that’s pretty low, even by lefty blogging standards. She should apologize or be fired.

    Don’t be silly. First, she’s not comparing anyone to Hitler, but to holocaust deniers. The similarity is the degree to which both ignore the preponderance of evidence in favor of their preferred version of the “truth”. This is abundantly clear from the text. You can’t just whip out Godwin to stifle debate anytime the Nazis are mentioned, however tangentially. Secondly, and less importantly, she isn’t criticizing anyone for their research. The vast majority of global warming deniers are not working scientists, or at least not climate researchers. That global warming is occurring is the overwhelming consensus of the field (which was kind of the point of the op-ed). Her criticism is directed at those who ignore the research for political, economic, or emotional reasons.

Anyone surprised at the thriving nature of deniers hasn’t been paying attention.

    Why does the mind boggle at Holocaust denial in 2007?
    It’s the logical outcome of post-Reagan Republicanism.
    Global warming denial. American defeat in Iraq denial. Evolution denial. Economic reality denial. Torture at Guantanamo denial. Peak Oil denial. Denial of science, denial of history, denial of reality. At every turn, Gingrich-Reagan Republicanism has been based on denial of documented facts.
    Holocaust denial is mild. Buckle up, buckaroos! This is just the _start_.
    Soon you’ll see Republicans denying:

    That the earth orbits the sun;
    That women have babies instead of men;
    That humans need to eat food;
    That clean air and clean water are necessary for life;
    That 2 + 2 = 4.

    We have scarcely begun our flight into unreality. The massive American lurch into self-delusion and mass insanity which began in 1981 when Bonzo the chimp’s co-star got elected president, will not only proceed apace — look for the American descent into madness to exponentiate. Soon we’ll see mobs burning cats in the streets because they’re imps of satan, and crazed gangs will drag innocent people out of their houses and murder them as sorcerors because their kid got sick (“The sorceror cast a spell on my child!”).

    As Jared Diamond points out, the highest cause of mortality among all primitive tribes is murder of suspected sorcerors. Somebody falls ill? Must be an evil sorceror — find him and kill him. A snake bit your wife? An evil sorceror caused it — find him and kill him. Your child drowned in the river? An evil sorceror masterminded it — find him and kill him.

    This is what Americans have now devolved into. All courtesy of the senile sociopath with the charming smile, Bonzo the chimp’s co-star.

    “In this winter of their discontents, nostalgia for Ronald Reagan has become for many conservatives a substitute for thinking.

    (..)

    “Reagan imbibed his mother’s form of Christianity, a strand of 19th-century Unitarianism from which Reagan took a foundational belief that he expressed in a 1951 letter: “God couldn’t create evil so the desires he planted in us are good.” This logic — God is good, therefore so are God-given desires — leads to the Emersonian faith that we please God by pleasing ourselves. Therefore there is no need for the people to discipline their desires. So, no leader needs to suggest that the public has shortcomings and should engage in critical self-examination.”
    George Will, “The Limits of Sunniness,” L.A. Times, 11 Feburary 2007

    Unshackled by Bonzo’s co-star from critical self-examination and rational skeptical thought, the American people found themselves gloriously loosed into the azure sky of self-delusion. We are all heroes, the senile sociopath assured us in his inauguration speech — so why worry? I’m a hero, you’re a hero, he’s a hero, we’re all marvellous, and it’s morning in America. No Peak Oil. No pollution. No homeless people on the street — those things no longer exist, courtesy of the sugared lies told by senile sociopath with the charming smile. And eagerly swallowed by a nation of infantilized chumps.

    Delusion has proven addictive, and, like the gullible dupes in Guyana, the American people eagerly guzzled the poison Kool-Aid offered by Bonzo’s co-star. And now we wander, brainless and dickless, through a fantasy landscape of our own making like sleepwalkers eating a delicious imaginary meal while the house burns down around us. “Yum!” the American people giggle, delectating in our nonexistent gourmet meal, even as the gas furnace explodes and sends us hurtling through the air. Rejoice! Victory in Iraq is just around the corner. We’ll soon enjoy complete energy independence courtesy of hydrogen-powered cars. A giant umbrella lofted into earth orbit will defeat global warming. And just by telling teenage kids to say “No” to sex and teaching them abstinence, gonorrhea and herpes and HIV and drug-resistant TB and hepatitis C and human papilloma virus will vanish without a trace, and all American teenagers will magically stop having sex and enjoy happy productive lives as minimum-wage workers at McDonalds (because they don’t have the money to go to college — we pissed it all away on non-working missile defense systems and a futile Iraq war and tax cuts for predatory monopolists paying whip-wielders to flail slave-laboring kids in China into even greater flights of productivity).

    If you believe, clap your hands! Tinkerbell speaks. Welcome to the politics of mass insanity, brought to you by the Cruel Man With the Kindly Smile, Bonzo the Chimp’s co-star…and his unindicted co-conspirators, the infantile eagerly self-deluding American people. Tomorrow is a better day! Soon, as Newt Gingrich assures us, nanotechnology will erase all disease, so no need of stem cells, and of course there’ll be a laptop for every child. Never ask “Where are we going?” Or that even more uncomfortable question: “And why are we in this handbasket?”

  58. 58.

    Dumb comparison since Jews are an ethnic group and people are liberal or conservative by choice.

    Shorter Jimmy Mack: I am a fucking moron.

    Judaism is a religion. Islam is a religion. Not ethnicities.
