Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

The “burn-it-down” people are good with that until they become part of the kindling.

Stamping your little feets and demanding that they see how important you are? Not working anymore.

No one could have predicted…

Disappointing to see gov. newsom with his finger to the wind.

You cannot love your country only when you win.

Donald Trump found guilty as fuck – May 30, 2024!

Imperialist aggressors must be defeated, or the whole world loses.

The cruelty is the point; the law be damned.

Our job is not to persuade republicans but to defeat them.

“Perhaps I should have considered other options.” (head-desk)

“A king is only a king if we bow down.” – Rev. William Barber

Those who are easily outraged are easily manipulated.

Consistently wrong since 2002

Hey Washington Post, “Democracy Dies in Darkness” was supposed to be a warning, not a mission statement.

So very ready.

Never entrust democracy to any process that requires republicans to act in good faith.

Innocent people do not delay justice.

The way to stop violence is to stop manufacturing the hatred that fuels it.

If you thought you’d already seen people saying the stupidest things possible on the internet, prepare yourselves.

Following reporting rules is only for the little people, apparently.

Dear Washington Post, you are the darkness now.

Nothing says ‘pro-life’ like letting children go hungry.

They traffic in fear. it is their only currency. if we are fearful, they are winning.

People are complicated. Love is not.

I will let you wonder with me:

“At what point did my Friday night social life deteroriate to watching season two of Alias on DVD while eating Hola Fruta and petting my cat.”

I swear- I used to be cool. Myabe I will go play some Warcrack instead.

Speaking of Alias- Exactly how many missions will she be able to sabotage before the dim bulbs at SD6 figure out something is up?

My latest fix has been Warhammer 40000: Dark Crusade.

Of course I may actually reload Diablo II this weekend just for shits and giggles. Unfortunately there haven’t been too many new games that have sparked my interest of late so I just play the old ones *sigh*

You left out blogging (and I’ll leave out blog commenting). Take heart; you haven’t reached bottom. You could be married. And then you could have kids.

C&C III is a pretty good new game. . . exactly like Red Alert and the original C&C, so it doesn’t make me feel too old.

I liked Generals and do like the C&C games but the whole strategy thing becomes predictible after a while. Same with shooters LOL. I’m hopeing the new Warhammer comes out soon since it looks like it will be several planets of conquest, not just one.

Sorry, for some reason John sounds a bit Talking Headish to me.

But look at it this way, you could be sitting at home petting your Hola Fruta and watching your cat eat your alias. Or petting your alias, watching Hola Fruta and eating your cat. Enjoy the quiet, non-cat eating moments of your life.

I can’t for the life of me figure it out, John. Sorry. I’m listening to music I haven’t heard in 30 years and perhaps I’ll go out this weekend and sing lots of songs at the top of my lungs with a roomful of drinking funseekers hellbent on a good time. I don’t feel old, in fact, I feel younger than I ever thought I could feel at this age.

Perhaps you’re doing it all wrong.

John, no one is cool all the time.

I’m celebrating my 60th this weekend. Life just keeps getting better. I had a birthday lunch yesterday with people I’ve known for 25-40 years. We all agreed these are not the end times.

I bless the day I found this place. It’s the only comments section anywhere where I feel genuinely comfortable.

In how many other comments sections do people even know that Firesign Theatre existed, huh?

I second that. I may not always agree with everyone but even the debate for the most part is civil and enlightening.

Anybody else find the lack of commentary regarding the abortion decision on Fox’s website interesting? They announced the event, had it decried in their “Blue Streak” column and have an video on “Dems on abortion and gun control,” but none of the professional Fox pundits seems to have an opinion on the matter.

eating Hola Fruta and petting my cat.”

Sometimes it’s the simple pleasures that make life worth living. Last night I threw two steaks on the grill until they were nice and seared on the outside, and medium-rare on the inside; paired them with some baked potatoes and some nice green beans, and sat down with my bf for a lovely meal, washed down with two glasses of Pinot Noir. I then fell asleep on the couch while watching What Not to Wear.

    It’s the simple pleasures.

And I don’t think I’ve ever been cool, but I’ve never really given a sweet damn.

    Enough. Then things change again.

I’m just starting on netflixing things like Deadwood, and Weeds, and The Wire, etc., myself. All this stuff I’m years behind (the Sopranos).
