Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

This really is a full service blog.

Whoever he was, that guy was nuts.

Republicans don’t want a speaker to lead them; they want a hostage.

It’s the corruption, stupid.

Washington Post Catch and Kill, not noticeably better than the Enquirer’s.

It’s always darkest before the other shoe drops.

Republicans: “Abortion is murder but you can take a bus to get one.” Easy peasy.

Boeing: repeatedly making the case for high speed rail.

Disagreements are healthy; personal attacks are not.

Text STOP to opt out of updates on war plans.

Jack Smith: “Why did you start campaigning in the middle of my investigation?!”

There are more Russians standing up to Putin than Republicans.

We still have time to mess this up!

If you still can’t see these things even now, maybe politics isn’t your forte and you should stop writing about it.

A norm that restrains only one side really is not a norm – it is a trap.

Relentless negativity is not a sign that you are more realistic.

… gradually, and then suddenly.

There is no right way to do the wrong thing.

They want us to be overwhelmed and exhausted. Focus. Resist. Oppose.

Do not shrug your shoulders and accept the normalization of untruths.

It is possible to do the right thing without the promise of a cookie.

The rest of the comments were smacking Boebert like she was a piñata.

I see no possible difficulties whatsoever with this fool-proof plan.

Shut up, hissy kitty!

How did you do? All “A’s?” Any “F’s?” What was your overall grade point average for the semester?

I am not disclosing any information like that in the chances some of my students or peers do read this blog. Grade information should remain confidential.

But, for the record, I gave ‘F’s to every student I taught this semester. It was deeply liberating.

    Damn,
I still have a lot of grading to do before grades are due tomorrow. I guess I shouldn’t be taking a break reading your blog. Bye bye.

You know, “Back in the Saddle Again” was the first Aerosmith song I ever heard. Good way to start.

True. But, if you graded yourself as a professor, what would you give yourself? Do you feel that your students left your class with a lot more knowledge than they came in?

(I know, I sound nosy, but I do wonder sometimes if profs do a lot of self-evaluation and assessment of their own teaching skills. I know I had a few who knew their subject matter inside and out, but couldn’t teach worth a dime, and always wondered if they knew they were terrible teachers, or if they just thought they were always given dumbasses for students.)
