The teevee says that Rep. William Jefferson (D-LA) will be indicted this afternoon. Why the delay? Who knows, maybe the paperwork got forgotten behind some kielbasa in the freezer.

Democrat or not, if he was dirty, he had to go. I wish Republicans would figure that out.

I’m not sure how much delay there’s bin. I’d kind of like one of our ex-prosecutors (e.g LITBMueller) to say whether there was an usual delay or not.

No, actually, I’m thinking more about how you guys didn’t abandon Delay and anyone who you thought you could get away with holding on to. I said, if Jefferson was dirty, he had to go. I would say that about any member of Congress. That’s the difference between you and me. Don’t pretend that gap isn’t there, because you know it is. Case in point: ethics standards being overlooked and changed to keep Delay in his seat. Say no more.

Isn’t it true that Hastert defended Foley until it started to look indefensible, and then Fox News ended up putting a (D) next to his name so as to try to confuse the base away from realizing he was a Republican? I seem to recall a graphic with evidence that Fox News tried to sell him to their viewrs as a Democrat after the story got really nasty.

Yes and yes. Hastert even tried to claim it was all a prank and people were being so unfair dear old Foley Catheter. After all, Maffy was a strong supporter of the Missing & Exploited Children Act.

Do you mean like the Republicans abandoning Duke Cunningham and Mark Foley?

    You gotta be a spoof.

This is what one of your prominent Republicans had to say about Cunningham:

“Cunningham took bribes — he didn’t kill a girl at Chappaquiddick. To put it another way, the only thing Duke Cunningham ever sank was his own career.

And in one glorious afternoon over North Vietnam, Duke Cunningham did more for his county than the entire Democratic caucus will do in a lifetime.”

That’s right. Cunningham may have taken $2.4 million in bribes, but he was still better than the Democrats!

Haven’t you figured this out yet Steve? Everything is black and white. If you are a Republican you’re good, a Democrat you’re bad. I mean that nasty stretch of peace and prosperity we had in the 90s was bad. A corrupt Democrat: Bad. Corrupt Republicans: Good. Delay? Good, a victim of vicious Democrats.

The last few years I’ve come to realize that the 28%ers view of the world is childish. There is only their world view, nothing else. Only people who validate their world view are good, everyone else is bad.

Speaking of ex-congress critters, Dick Armey is “blogging” over at Swampland, which has engendered some strong agreement in the comments:

    REP ARMEY,

IT IS A GREAT HONOR TO BE JOINED BY SUCH A HIGH PROFILE CONSERVATIVE LIKE YOURSELF. UNTILL NOW, TEH ONLY CONSERVATIVES ON THIS BORED WERE PEOPLE LIKE ‘QUESTION HILLARY’ AND MYSELF. NOW THAT YOU ARE HEAR WE CAN ALL JOIN TOGETHER TO FIGHT THE ISLAMO-COMMIE-ENVIRO FASCISTS.

AS TEH MAIN ARCHITECT FOR THE CONTRACT ON AMERICA, I KNOW YOU MSU BE VERY FAMILURE WITH THE CURRENT STATE OF OUR COUNTRY. IN TEH HISTORY BOOKS, WILL REAGAN BE THE GREATEST PRESIDENT AND DUBYA SECOND GREATEST? OR WILL DUBYA BE GREATEST AND REAGAN SECOND GEREATEST?

THANK YOU FOR POINTING OUT THAT TEH LIBERASL ARE TEH ONES EXPANDING GOVERNMENT. WITH THEIR STUPID PLANS LIKE ‘HOMELAND SECURITY’, ‘NO CHILDS BEHIND’, AND TEH FDA. AND ALL THIS TALK OF HEALTH CARE IS JUST HOOEY. YOU DON’T NEED DOCTORS. WHY JUST YESTERDAY I CUT MYSELF ON A BONE SAW AS WE WERE BUTCHERING PHEASENTS. BUT I DIDN’T NEED NO DOCTOR. I JUST USED SOME DUCK TAPE TO CLOSE IT UP AND THAT WAS IT. WHY CAN’T EVERYONE ELSE DO THAT?

WHAT’S MOST IMPORTATN TO REMEMBER IS THAT CONSERVATICES LIKE OURSELVES ARE FIGHTING FOR FREEDOM. THE FREEDOM TO BE A WHITE CHRISTIAN. THAT’S WHAT IT MEANS TO BE FREE.

AND IT IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT WE FIGHT ALL THE TYRANNIES. ONCE, I WENT INTO TEH CITY TO BUY SOME BLACK POWEDER. I STOPPED AT A STORE FOR A HOTDOG. WHILE I WAS THERE I MET THIS NICE WOMAN AND WE STARTED TO TALK. SHE LIKED MY F350 AND IT’S CUSTOM CAMO PAINT JOB. SHE EVENTUALLY ASKED ME BACK TO HER PLACE. I WENT HOPING TO SPEND TIME WITH A GOOD CONSERVATIVE WOMAN. THINGS WERE GOING WELL UNTILL SHE TOOK OFF HER SKIRT AND I SAW SHE HAD A LITTLE SOLDIER, AS THE GOOD GENERAL CALLS THEM. THAT WAS MY FIRST EXPERIENCE WITH A TYRANY AND I NEVER WANT THAT TO HAPPEN TO ANOTHER PERSONE.

THANK YOU FRO YOUR HARD WORK.

I believe in the ‘innocent until proven guilty’, but in this case if Jefferson does not have a good excuse for the large sum of cash in the icebox, he needs to go. Yesterday.

Innocent until proven guilty is fine, and there is nothing wrong with that. But if a murderer is busted with a knife dripping blood in hand, it still applies to him but we all know that the person is guilty. Same if you are busted with a house full of pot plants, you are innocent until proven guilty but it sure looks like the conclusion is preordained by your possession of the goods you were busted with.

There is no room for fudging here, he was caught red handed (or is that blue handed?) and if he can’t give a plausible reason for the cash in the icebox, toss him out on his ass and let the wolves loose on him.
