Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

It is possible to do the right thing without the promise of a cookie.

There is one struggling party in US right now, and it’s not the Democrats.

Sitting here in limbo waiting for the dice to roll

Stamping your little feets and demanding that they see how important you are? Not working anymore.

It’s pointless to bring up problems that can only be solved with a time machine.

Damn right I heard that as a threat.

“Why isn’t this Snickers bar only a nickel?”

Nothing worth doing is easy.

Republican speaker of the house Mike Johnson is the bland and smiling face of evil.

They think we are photo bombing their nice little lives.

Spilling the end game before they can coat it in frankl luntz-approved dogwhistles.

We are builders in a constant struggle with destroyers. let’s win this.

The new republican ‘Pastor’ of the House is an odious authoritarian little creep.

“That’s what the insurrection act is for!”

Fight for a just cause, love your fellow man, live a good life.

One of our two political parties is a cult whose leader admires Vladimir Putin.

Thanks to your bullshit, we are now under siege.

The frogs are rarely mistaken.

The next time the wall street journal editorial board speaks the truth will be the first.

Everything is totally normal and fine!!!

Can we lighten up on the doomsday scenarios?

Someone should tell Republicans that violence is the last refuge of the incompetent, or possibly the first.

They fucked up the fucking up of the fuckup!

I’d hate to be the candidate who lost to this guy.

Yes, I admit it. I stayed in tonight to watch Bob Barker’s last TPIR on CBS. I am not sure why, but I just felt like I should.

Same here. I haven’t watched TPIR in like 25 years or more but it was kind of neat watching it end. I was pretty impressed with Bob not getting all weepy or emotional. He is a real pro.

Watched it this morning. I was happy to see someone who seemed deserving win right before Bob’s classy farewell.

Still, every time I think of Bob Barker, I think, “‘The price is wrong, bitch.” Damn you, Adam Sandler.

All right, I’ll be the first to say it: Something inside you said, “Come on down!”

John, did you also catch Mr. Nifong’s last performance?

Now, if all of the other law enforcement types who get “carried away” would just follow. [Looks at Ali G. da AG.]

From what I’ve gathered while reading your blog you’re single. So on a Friday night at the start of summer you’re staying in to watch TPIR? Maybe while chowing down on some Hola Fruita? Do I need to tell you there’s something wrong with that picture?

I have never watched TPIR. But I do understand that you have to watch a couple of seasons to really get it.

Actually, they go by different units of measurement on TPIR, it’s not figured in seasons, it’s figured in Showcase Showdowns.

Oh, sorry — that’s the movie’s release name. The production name was _That Place in Russia_, TPIR to the cognoscenti.

I’m with you on this one, John. Of course, I have a couple of small children, so I’m not going anywhere on Friday nights anyway. But, Bob Barker is just engrained as part of my childhood. I spent a fair number of lazy summer mornings in the 70s and early 80s watching The Price is Right. The show also reminds me of mornings when school was called off because of snow. And, Bob’s been at that job for a long, long time.
