Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Perhaps you mistook them for somebody who gives a damn.

Glad to see john eastman going through some things.

“What are Republicans afraid of?” Everything.

You can’t love your country only when you win.

Narcissists are always shocked to discover other people have agency.

“But what about the lurkers?”

How can republicans represent us when they don’t trust women?

Someone should tell Republicans that violence is the last refuge of the incompetent, or possibly the first.

The revolution will be supervised.

It’s not hopeless, and we’re not helpless.

Republicans don’t want a speaker to lead them; they want a hostage.

If senate republicans had any shame, they’d die of it.

Not all heroes wear capes.

“Cheese and Kraken paired together for the appetizer trial.”

Republican obstruction dressed up as bipartisanship. Again.

I’m more Christian than these people and I’m an atheist.

with the Kraken taking a plea, the Cheese stands alone.

The most dangerous place for a black man in America is in a white man’s imagination.

We still have time to mess this up!

Hot air and ill-informed banter

Republicans don’t lie to be believed, they lie to be repeated.

No one could have predicted…

Wow, you are pre-disappointed. How surprising.

Do not shrug your shoulders and accept the normalization of untruths.

Answer: Dogs Against Romney.

If some grumpy-looking Vietnam vets can sink the Kerry campaign, I shudder to think what puppies can do to the Mittster.

    Who Does Mitt Have?

Damn, and I thought the answer would be “Christians”.

You could say he’s going to have a dog’s dinner from this?
Is his campaign is going to be *ruff*?
    Things could get hairy?
    Can’t someone… throw him a bone?
All those Dog-gone activists can be a problem?
He’ll have to keep future stories on a short lease?

    Alright, I’m done.

Hahaha. And this is completely OT, but Bill O’Reily says armed lesbian militias are springing up all across America, indoctrinating our children, beating up our heterosexual men, and rampaging across our countryside!

I mean, omgwtfbbq~! I wish this was made up, so I could laugh at it without crying.

Not to get further OT, but, on the subject of militias: am I the only one that thinks that, should the crazies lose in 2008, we’ll see militias and domestic terrorism back on the upswing, a la the ’90s? I think it’ll be xenophobia-tinged, this time (with immigration being such a bee in their bonnet), in addition to the usual anti-government stuff. (Wasn’t big government just fine from 2000-2008, though?) I can’t wait to see Republican lawmakers talk about “misguided patriots” and want them to be treated fairly, with legit criminal trials, no “enhanced interrogation techniques,” etc. If such a situation comes about, I fully expect them to complain about President Obama being “heavy-handed” in his treatment of them. This is one situation where their own quotes on the subject of terrorism will doom them…

I wonder if there isn’t already an ongoing upswing that’s just not receiving very much attention. For example, in any other time, I think that a bunch of armed civilians calling themselves Minutemen and patrolling one of our borders might have raised a few eyebrows.

OMG THEY WANT TO KILL US! Frankly, I had no idea lesbians were roaming the streets of DC with heat seeking moisture missiles or whateverdafuck. They must hide when they see me coming.

Dude. Seriously. Any creep who makes up shit about children being raped has probably done a few things that warrant the short eyes treatment in the local prison, and I bet Shrill got a funny feeling in his pants as he listened to the lurid tales of lesbian gang rape. But no, it is the lesbians who are the violent perverts.

And I’m sorry, but if lesbians were forming gangs, they’d have far better names than Gays Taking Over.

am I the only one that thinks that, should the crazies lose in 2008, we’ll see militias and domestic terrorism back on the upswing, a la the ‘90s?

I think we’ll see domestic terrorism called by its proper name. When a nail bomb was found outside a family planning clinic in Texas there was a distinct lack of wailing and wetting of pants from the fRight Wing, similar to their non-reaction when a student at Liberty University was caught with bombs in his car. And have you heard anything about the anthrax killings of late?

    Me neither.

Domestic terrorism is still alive and kicking, but you’re not supposed to think about it. Unless, the terrorists are lesbians, I guess.

Who would you rather running loose in our streets, moonbat? True patriots who are doing God’s work by eliminating our domestic enemies, or militant atheist commieislamofascist lesbian gangs who will turn our kids gay and then force them to have abortions after smuggling illegal immigrants and al-Queda members into the country?

You Leftists are so unserious about national security.

My aren’t we picky? There are men who’d kill for a chance to be mugged by any female regardless of appearance, orientation, and even species. [Looks at Bill O’Lielly]

However, since we’re talking about the figments of the fevered imaginings of a bunch of freaks I’d guess they’re the type of Dow-Corning (TM) enhanced “lesbians” that appear on such refined websites as XXX HOT WET GURL ACTION XXX.

Meet the new big lie. Terrorists aren’t white.

Seriously, though. I remember back in the day when an abortion clinic bombing or a dragging death or an anthrax attack was front page news for a week. That was back in the day, I guess, before the MSM knew exactly what we were allowed to be afraid of. It’s getting kinda scary, between ANS/Paris coverage and pick-and-choose terror, how much tunnel vision our country has developed. And it seems like the more “news” stations we add – CNN in the 90s, followed by MSNBC and FOX – the worse the tunnel vision gets as they try to one-up each other on coverage of the exact same bullshit stories.

As someone who squeals like an idiot and approaches strangers to pet their dog, I would find it vastly amusing if Romney’s campaign imploded due to how he treats his pooch. (Cruel? Completely lacking in common sense? Yeah, let’s vote for him! )

Wolf Blitzer is his name. CNN declined with the First Gulf War. They got such good ratings, that they decided they needed to mimmick it every day.

Gulf War I may have been the begining of the end, but it was O.J. who slit the throat of CNN.

and the victim bled out after 9-11 when the guys in charge caved totally and consciously tried to be more like FOX. In Moyers’ “Buying the War” some former CNN bigwig says that.

[…] First, via Balloon Juice, Dogs Against Romney. For your ponderance, here’s a 100% true piece of conventional electoral wisdom that I totally just made up right now (Who needs Chris Matthews and David Broder when you’ve got me?): no Presidential candidate in history has ever won without the all-important Dog Vote. Even Garfield brought Odie on as his running mate to counter the natural antipathy that canine voters feel toward large, orange cats. […]
