Wow…did you just do a Chuck Norris joke using Jack Bauer instead?
John Cole
Maybe.
ThymeZone
Jack Bauer just called and said he has a “gut feeling” that Al Qaeda might be up to something.
Meanwhile, Dennis Haysbert went on the air to say that the surge had only started yesterday, and it would take until January 2009 to evaluate its effectiveness. According to Wolf Blitzer, this has caused division in the Democrat party.
Dave
You spend too much time in the Barrens Mr. Cole.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAA
Must be something in the water in Florida.

Republicans refuse to give an UPRDOWN(TM) vote on a bill to support the troops.
Rome Again
Being a Florida legislator, he couldn’t have been desperate for $20.00, it sounds more like his sexual fantasies involved the exchange of money, apparently.

Florida eh? Let me guess …
Whaaahahaaaa! [Snort]:
HOUSE BILL 1475 Sponsor: Rep. Bob Allen (R-Merritt Island). This bill broadens the scope of Section 800.04 of the Florida Statutes. That section specifically addresses “lewd or lascivious exhibition,” including public masturbation. HB 1475 broadens the scope of 800.04 to include lewd acts committed in the presence of those of any age, not just those under the age of 16, as the existing law specifies. HB 1475 does not mention 800.03 at all, but it increases the penalty for lewd acts under 800.04.

Even Funnier!!!
There are some days I really love being around to see this go on. For me, eh, it’s normal but it couldn’t be happening to a nicer crew.
Jake
On a far more somber note: RIP Lady Bird Johnson.
The world just lost a little bit more class.
Dave
The GOP have been blocking most everything
Of course to hear wingnuts tell it, it’s all the Dem’s fault.
Wonder why JD thinks America is a failure.
Cain
How utterly delicious. I think these people must be seriously repressed. Anyways, it’s just the type of simple messages that even the 26 percenters can understand. May they be demoralized and confused.
Time to go home and drink a bourbon in salut.

went to work a shift at the local food co-op today, and guess who i ended up working the front door with? cutty from the wire.

Wait until season 6, wherein Jack Bauer and a squad of intergalactic shape changers have a brain BBQ and cook the entire Congress on a spit.
Actually, what I just said is somewhat more believable that season 6 was. But you should watch it anyway.
tBone
I hear you have to work at least two shifts with him to really appreciate him.
Andrew
The second shift was better than the third shift, 8 episodes into the third so far.
laneman
It disturbs me that I did not even have to think to understand that. Really disturbs me.
chopper
i actually kinda made that joke. heh. he’s a really nice guy.

Watching C-SPAN this AM (Washington Journal), and they had Army Colonel Terry Ferrell on, and he is stationed in Iraq. One Repub lady called in and said:
“The Democrats brought the men in Vietnam home in shame. With what is going on in Congress now, do you or your men think that it will happen again” (paraphrased)
His response:
“My men and I are proud to serve this nation.”
That is it. A few calls earlier, he was asked if he was able to speak freely while in the military, and he said that he is a “straight shooter” and he says what he believes, and is not afraid to say so. Sure, right….
The wingnuts who support this war keep saying is “Listen to the men on the ground, listen to Petraeus when he reports. Keep the politicians out of it.”
There is are reason that the military has to listen to the politicians, and that is because we are not a military dictatorship. Our military is civilian led, and those civilians are our politicians. Like it or not, that is the way it is. If you were to give the military a free hand, you can get men like MacArthur, who was ready to nuke China. It was true then, and it is true to this day.
I wish the wingnuts would stop it with this argument. Face the facts folks, the military does what it is told to do. It does not tell us what to do. It can recommend direction, but the final decision is up to the pols, not the military.
I think of our military as one of the meanest, toughest junkyard dogs out there. We the people hold the leash, and we do not let this critter loose to shred and maim at will. Or at least we are not supposed to…
The Other Steve
In the 3rd season how many times does Kim get kidnapped?
Dreggas
Even better, the guy down in FL was co-chair for the McCain campaign.
tBone
She never really got properly kidnapped in Season 3, but she did get held at gunpoint at least once or twice. Sadly, no mountain lions made an appearance.

If this is an open thread, I’ll say that I saw Pan’s Labyrinth just last night, via NetFlix, and thought it was an amazing movie, one of the best I’ve seen in the past few years.
Jake
If this shit gets any funnier I’ll need a lung transplant.
But maybe that explains the McCainiac’s tantrum about staff making him wear “gay sweaters?”
Or maybe he’s just a raving creep who needs to r-e-t-i-r-e.
