Because my milkshake is better than Tim’s.

Saw Sicko sunday, almost gave up hope of it ever appearing within 100 miles of me in my little backwater of Kansas. I gotta say though, it makes one wanna move to France.

Does you milkshake bring the boys the the yard, John?
Your milkshake?
Your milkshake?
John Cole
Why, yes!
It brought you here.
Ryan S.
John could teach you Tim, but he’d have to charge.
Tim F.
WTF. I’m surrounded by dorks.
canuckistani
Holy shit! I hadn’t noticed!
Ryan S.
Quit the denial Tim. Your surrounded by dorks because you’re a part of the dork herd.
Pb
You must be new here.
demimondian
If you walk like a dork, talk like a dork, and are completely surrounded by dorks, what does that say about you, Senator McCarthy?
Jake
At first I thought this sounded mucky but I’m relieved to see it’s just dorky.
Am I greater or lesser dork for not getting the reference?
Ryan S.
Tim, in case you needed proof: as an adult completely reading the latest Harry Potter book by Monday = Total Dorkage.

I saw Rush in concert on Saturday. Packed end to end. Gotta admire a band that gets no airplay, no advertising, but can pack a large venue end to end.
“now it comes to this, all those speeches of mass deception, from the middle east to the middle west”
Check out the lyrics from the new album, it has some poignant observations of the current political situation. You can tell Peart is hopping mad.

Saw them a month ago in an ampitheater in Scranton PA. There were a lot of blue collar types in my audience. Makes me wonder what they thought of the lyrics. But then, my experience growing up in Tennessee was that “good old boys” were often infinitely more rational than the rich Republicans I met when I went to Dartmouth.
I was also fascinated by the bipolar audience. Average age must have been mid 40s under the top in assigned seats. Average age late 20s out on the lawn.
HyperIon
i think you mean bimodal.
Blondie
Damn you John, now that song will be stuck in my head all morning.
Thank all that is holy for YouTube . . .

Holy Cow! Endemic Dorkritude on this site…Who’da Thunk It???
Eural
You lucky bastard – they managed to hit my neck of the woods on June 18th this year and it turns out my wife did not want a Rush concert for her birthday (imagine that!).
I saw them on the “Vapor Trails” tour and loved the crowd split – a lot of 30 and 40+ parents with their kids (who all had earplugs in but seemed to still enjoy the show). And currently my kids (7 and 11) really like “Far Cry” off the new album.

Shit, this thread was about milkshakes. How could I have left the “Tits” off of my “Holy Cow”?
Well, now I’ve done it, I tried to bold “TITS!” and I’ve somehow bolded everything after that. I’m SO clueless on some of this shit.
mea culpa

I took my wife with me to the Rush concert.. the guy behind me congratulated her for putting up withe whole concert. (she’s not a fan)
The new stuff was pretty well received, I saw a lot more energetic responses for those songs than the classic.
When I was leaving the concert I saw a guy with “Bush/Cheny 2004” sticker. I was just wondering if he’s been listening to the lyrics. :-) He’s probably a “Bytor and the Snow Dog” fan. ;)

One month! I cannot wait. Heard their 3.5 hour shows are down to 2.5 cuz Lee and Peart are too friggin old. I’m sure that includes the standard 18 minute Peart solo skins banging extravaganza. I’m pitchin a tent just thinking about it. Booyah.

I like ‘Tom Sawyer’ but I don’t like Rush. Am I gonna die?
cain
Really? They played 3 hours, 7:45 – 11:00pm. The show was supposed to start at 7:30 but they didn’t show up till 7:45.
Check out the South Park video with Cartman playing Geddy. Freaking hilarious.
Bob Cesca had a blog entry about Rush taking on the religious right. Which has some interesting commentary on hte lyrics against the right.

Naw. Rush is an acquired taste I know. You might die if you hate Dream Theater though.

Mr. Kramer says “Hey buddy”.

“Rush Concert?” Limbaugh has a band? I didn’t even know he could sing!
cain
He does in fact have a beautiful tenor. Sadly, packs of dogs tend to get attracted to him and try to defecate on his leg when he does attempt to sing.
cain
myiq2xu
Well I for one am never gonna pay money to watch fatboy play with his instrument.
BTW – “Subdivisions” is definitely their best.

Uh yeah. Damn Mondays.

One more topic since we’re in open thread.
Conyers apparently needs only three more congressmen to get onboard and he would start impeachment hearings for Cheney. It’s about time. These guys have been doing power grabs for the past couple of weeks.
Chimpy apparently thinks he is competent enough to take control of the entire government during a terrorist attack. I’m tempted to not fight that. Because he’ll do such a poor job that he and his party of fucktwats can crash and burn forever. (see
God I hate this administration….
see current crooksandliars…

With a 30 minute intermission. The show is roughly 2.5 hours of music.
cain
Doh! You’re right. Although I think that’s standard because I think they played the same length last time too.

Jake
Dork!

ps To all of you who have or are going to see Rush: I hate you. Shut up.
Krista
Sssshhhhh. Be vewwy, vewwy quiet. Right now I am being soooo careful of where I go on the internet, ’cause I’m still waiting for my book to arrive, and am really worried that some random asshat is going to spoil the ending for me.
Rush? Meh…that group does nothing for me. I dated a fellow when I was 14 who listened to all Rush, all the time. Would listen to nothing else. Needless to say, hearing Rush on the radio makes me immediately reach for the dial.
canuckistani
Growing up in Toronto, the only thing better than a Rush concert was a Rush concert with Max Webster opening.
But now I’m old, and all Rush mean to me are the backup band for a Bob and Doug novelty song.
cain
Funny I don’t recall us dating.
Sadly, we do have dorks that only listen to one band like that. Dorks.
I think we’ve successfully converged the Rush and the Dork threads together. We can start some other topic now.

Ok, I’m game here’s two things that had me thinking.
Tea drinking and the rise of the British.
and
Liberal media bias at NYT?
jenniebee
Oh, God. Oh, God
There must be some way to stop it. There just has to be some way to stop it.
Rome Again
Funny, when I went to the movies to see Sicko, TZ asked me how it was and the first thing I said was: “I want to move to France”. True stuff, ask him. ;)
Grumpy Code Monkey
There’s one cut on the album (don’t remember the name offhand, sorry) where Pert’s basically saying, “yeah, I’m an atheist, ya gotta problem wit’ dat?”
Overall, as a general non-Rush fan, I’m actually digging it a bit. I’m also digging Kelly Clarkson’s “My December”.
Rome Again
I had no idea Rush was touring. Thanks guys. I’m gonna try to get tickets if I can.
I LOVE RUSH!
ThymeZone
I thought you said Paris, Texas.

jenniebee, I posted something similar a couple posts back. When we were talking about the whole support the troops thing. It’s pretty nasty stuff. It’s hard to get support from the population with that kind of behavior.
I’m at a loss how to even suggest how to go about resolving this problem.
Punchy
Well, that does it. The Apocolypse is certainly nigh. Rush and Kelly Clarkson in the same sentence. I think my food is coming back up. Yep, it is.
MMM
Drew Carey to host the Price is Right – I wonder what type of morality contract he had to sign. Whole new meaning – “Come on Down”
jake
Don’t buy anything again. Ever.

Good advice. You should also scroll down and familiarize yourself with the Liberal Hall of Shame (Top 100 Liberals in America) list. Jon Bon Jovi and his ilk are an insidious menace to this country. Every time a copy of “Slippery When Wet” is sold, it emboldens the terrorists further.
Rome Again
I can easily use their list to work against them
for my own purposes.
Even funnier is watching the list of Conservatives (linked on the front page) shrink as they remove a name here and a name there. LOL
A conservative hate site with a purpose for liberals, whoddathunkit?
Make7
From that site:
Fixed.
I’m not quite sure why they think people are going to be persuaded to boycott a movie because Jessica Biel is in it. Perhaps their intended audience of the boycott is gay. Although that really doesn’t seem to make much sense…
Make7
That was supposed to have read:
Jessica Bieljake
And don’t forget the list of Conservative things we should support! It includes “Mom.” I guess the editor means his mom, my mom : conservative as Rush Limbaugh :: liberal.
Dreggas
Of course he meant his mom, she works the corner down on 4th and broadway.
