I’m not one to side with the Bush administration, but Saudi exportation of extremism has caused far, far more trouble than the US invasion of Iraq. The fact that we haven’t had a more direct confrontation with the Saudis is a testiment to how ass-backwards our approach to the Middle-East truly is.
That being said, I hope Satan lets these two assholes hold hands in hell.

Is it my imagination, or is lil’ George pitching a tent? Or maybe he has the codpiece on.
maf54
Those two look like they’re ready for a pizza party with the House interns!

Not get all Mr. Blackwell here, but you really shouldn’t wear a brown belt with gray pants.
Zifnab
I wouldn’t go that far. Saudi terrorists just can’t compare to the US Army in terms of manpower, firepower, and hubris. It’s like comparing Tim McVeigh to Hitler’s Panzer Corps (Godwin in 4). You just can’t compare a guy with some fertilizer bombs to a nation armed with bombers and tanks. And muslim terrorists usually have the good grace to kill themselves in their own attacks. US Soldiers tend to stick around until the next election cycle.
ThymeZone
That’s a Western style belt. In Texas, as in Arizona, western is always chic, no matter what. You can wear a bolo tie with a tux here. Not just any bolo tie, but a bolo tie with a scorpion embedded in amber on the clasp.
Take yer effete eastern snobbery and ….. well, you know.
Cassidy
And yet you don’t want people accussing you of hating the military? You can wish for our deaths, and degrade us for not dying, but heaven forbid someone question you on it and accuse you of hating hate military. Hypocrite.
That was a sick statement and you should be ashamed.
Wilfred
How about some ‘state’s official tie’ blogging?

“Bush to King Abdullah: Eat me. Sideways.”
King to Bush: “That’s my line. Now, are you going to start teabaggin’, or do I have to shut off the oil?”

A day in the life of a fRightener:
IRAN! IRAN! IRAN!
Uh guys, Iran’s gonna help us secure Iraq.
SHUT UP SToOPID LIBRUL!!
No really, see?
… Oh. Well … [Alarming feelings of purposelessness]
Hey look! Someone wrote unflattering things about US soldiers in Iraq.
WHERE???
See?
SCOTT BEAUCHAMP! SCOTT BEAUCHAMP! SCOTT BEAUCHAMP!
And so it goes.
All snark aside, I have a sinking feeling that Iraq is going to move from being an Iranian/Saudi proxy war to the real thing.

Cassidy,
Zifnab was saying that, in terms of ongoing disruptivity, US troops have greater staying power than suicide bombers since they are a continuous presence. He was also saying that terrorists killing themselves is a good thing, since it results in dead terrorists, not that US troops ought to kill themselves or that he hopes they die. Not that I expect you to see any of that.
In any case, zif, the Saudi’s have been funding and exporting wahhabism in the region as a means of keeping internal desent to a minimum. Not to mention the fact that most of the 9/11 hijackers and bin Laden himself are/were Saudis. Our blundering, imbeciic adventure in Iraq isn’t helping things, but the Saudi’s have been laying the tinder for a regional conflagration for decades.
Davebo
Are we referring to the Saudi government here? Because if so I’d need something to back up such a claim. If we are instead referring to Saudi citizens I’d say this is correct, but not for the reason you state.
Tom Hilton
If we end up cooperating with Iran, do you suppose George will let Cheney bomb Saudi Arabia as a consolation prize?
BobJones
Well, for starters I’d question how much the Saudi “citizens” and charaties that funnel money to Al Qaeda and other Sunni extremist groups are actually distinct from the government. Saudi Arabia is, after all, a dictatorship whose power stems from controling the oil market. Saudi Royal family funding for wahhabism wasn’t something I honestly thought there was any dispute about. The House of Saud is a fucking mess that uses anti-Americanism as a means of focusing popular anger at a foreign power in order to consolidate and maintain its own power. There is a reason, after all, that the House of Saud and the House of Bush are such great, long term friends.

Why does Lt. Col Stephen AbrahamHate America?
Zifnab
Don’t bother trying to explain. If he wants to wet his pants over a self-justified belief that I secretly hate the troops, let him.
I guess its the only alternative to facing the reality that US Troops aren’t giving and receiving flowers, candy, and rainbows every day they spend in Iraq.
Cassidy
I got a flower. Pretty little girl too. Kept it on me the whole year. Must’ve been my good luck charm.
If you didn’t mean that, fine, I’ll withdraw it, but that’s what it sounded like to me. And the rest of your statement makes no sense, as I’ve said nothing like that.
Jake
These guys hate America too!
And Kuwait.
Jake
And the prize for alarmingly awkward phrasing goes to …
Cassidy
Lol…
Sorry. I was on patrol and we stopped in this pretty ghetto area. All the homes were mud brick, held together with spit and sheep shit…that kind of thing. Some of us would keep candy on us just for the kids and one of the little girls I gave some too went and picked me a flower, kinda like my girls do. Then she blushed and ran away. I kept the flower the whole year and I still have it actually.
ThymeZone
I’d be very surprised if anyone here believes a fucking word you say.
In fact, in going on three years here, I’ve never seen a poster go from zero to toilet in less time than you have.
Of course, if you doubt me, you can always take a poll and see how close I am. Go ahead, poll the commentariat.
Cassidy
I guess it’s a good thing I don’t give a shit what you have to say. In the end, you’re just another dumbass civilian living high on the blood of others.
I’m really hoping you’re the runt of the litter. I’d hate to think whole families breed as cowardly as you.
ThymeZone
Uh, if your posts are to be taken seriously, you don’t give a shit what anyone anywhere has to say.
Your second-rate schtick lost its appeal about a week ago, dude. Time to retire this failed handle and try something else, or …..? Ya gonna keep this up?
Porco Rosso
I’ve always suspected that Saudi Arabia is the Bush family proving ground for new ideas in civics and governance.

Coming from the mouth of ignorance and insults. Please god let you be an only child.
Porco Rosso
I’ve always suspected that Saudi Arabia is the Seven Sister’s proving ground for civics and good governance.
ThymeZone
Keepin you focussed, butthead.
It’s over, pal. Don’t take my word for it, poll the audience. You couldn’t sell a piece of ass on a troop convoy if your life depended on it.
ConservativelyLiberal
Cassidy says it loud and clear here, military dudes RULEZ!!! Civs SUX!!!!! Nothing like saying that the blood that they spill is on our hands. More passing the buck, which is the MO of the right. My vote is for past the toilet and comfortably living in the septic tank, getting high on the fumes.
Hey Cassidy, the blood is on all of our hands. I wish it was not on my hands too, but I had no choice in the matter. King George,
CheneySatan and the chickenshits in congress made sure of that…So half of the fighters coming into Iraq are from Saudi Arabia? Hmmm, combining that with the fact that 15 of the 19 terrorists on 9-11 were from Saudi Arabia, you think King George will finally make the mental connection between Saudi Arabia and terrorists? Nah, thats just a coinkydink…
Of course, that is why he wants to bomb Iran…
Dreggas
Saudi Arabia owes its existence to the wahabbists. The founder of the “Kingdom” made a deal with the founder of what was to become wahabbism as such it would become the official practice of Islam in the kingdom. Of course some of this changed over time and the kingdom was at war with the Ottoman’s numerous times leaving it fractured. When it re-emerged again during the 1920’s it was a result of the Al-Saud family again aligning itself with the wahabbists and uniting warring tribal factions.
While some elements have changed at least publicly Wahabbism is still the state form for practicing Islam and is even more strict in the farther reaches of the kingdom. As for exporting Wahabbism, this was done during the Afghan war to some extent. Supporting the jihad there the kingdom sent forth the faithful to battle the soviets.
In doing so they exported wahabbist beliefs and ideals that were at the root of the Taliban. Further their continued support for madrassa’s in pakistan and elsewhere continues to promote the wahabbist sect.
Zifnab
In short, Saudi Arabia uses wahabbism like Evangelicals use… well… evangelicalism. To get their dirty mits into another country’s political system under the cover of religion. Then use the faithful to dutifully and mindlessly forward the political line as a political-but-not-really-political-because-its-religious message.
We done got sold out to the Saudis for the illusionary promise of cheap gas.
laneman
Did you really just say that? There is so much to say, but it would on fall, no, not deaf ears; more like on a anencephalic baby.
John S.
Wow, talk about a military-industrial complex!
Seriously, the overwhelming majority of civilians in this country aren’t living high on the blood of anybody…well, maybe the blood of child laborers in China, if anything.
If you want to jab a finger in the eye of a few civilians high on the hog, look no further than the politicians that put our servicemen in a shit situation and their buddies who profit from it. I doubt that applies to anybody here.
Dave
Well you know Cassidy, if TZ makes you so resentful, maybe you should find a job more suited to your lifestyle.
jake
Ewwww! Mommy, this candy taste like pocket funk!
Come on. At least make some effort to build a consistent and relatively believable narrative and character across posts and threads.
Thanks.
Cassidy
Awwww…so quick to dismiss, yet so quick to believe unproven stories that reflect badly on Soldiers. You are a funny lot.
jake
Sorry hon, if I were quick to believe unproven stories that reflect badly on soldiers I would believe you were one.
Krista
Were they gray? They look olive to me.
Dave
Oh come on, find me one poster (preferably a regular) who gives a flying fuck what that dude wrote in the TNR. The point was (here) and always is that the wingnuts got all hyperventilated over nothing. It was and still is a non-story. The only reason it was post worthy was that a soldier said something “bad” about the troops, something that busted the fantasy wall that most wingnuts have about the military and then went apeshit.
ThymeZone
I can save you some trouble. I have never read the dude, never plan to, don’t care what he wrote, have no opinion about it. Have never expressed an opinion about it.
But I do know that cassidy is a rank troll.
ConservativelyLiberal
I did not know of it until the wingnutz went into meltdown overdrive. I only know what has been quoted, I have not read it either. Nor would I ever be inclined to visit TNR.
This is pretty funny. People only know about it due to the meltdown on the right…
What a hoot! You guys are your own worst enemies…lol!
Dave
Yup.

Davebo writes: “Because if so I’d need something to back up such a claim. If we are instead referring to Saudi citizens I’d say this is correct, but not for the reason you state.”
What, exactly, is the difference in a monarchical system with hundreds or thousands of ridiculously wealthy royals?
There is no practical difference. The ‘government’ stance is simply the lie their diplomats pass on to outsiders.
