Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Speaking of republicans, is there a way for a political party to declare intellectual bankruptcy?

I’m starting to think Jesus may have made a mistake saving people with no questions asked.

if you can’t see it, then you are useless in the fight to stop it.

Every reporter and pundit should have to declare if they ever vacationed with a billionaire.

They are lying in pursuit of an agenda.

You come for women, you’re gonna get your ass kicked.

You are so fucked. Still, I wish you the best of luck.

The Giant Orange Man Baby is having a bad day.

The low info voters probably won’t even notice or remember by their next lap around the goldfish bowl.

Donald Trump found guilty as fuck – May 30, 2024!

Republicans: “Abortion is murder but you can take a bus to get one.” Easy peasy.

We are aware of all internet traditions.

Too often we confuse noise with substance. too often we confuse setbacks with defeat.

Their boy Ron is an empty plastic cup that will never know pudding.

We will not go quietly into the night; we will not vanish without a fight.

The gop is a fucking disgrace.

A democracy can’t function when people can’t distinguish facts from lies.

Hey Washington Post, “Democracy Dies in Darkness” was supposed to be a warning, not a mission statement.

If you can’t control your emotions, someone else will.

When do we start airlifting the women and children out of Texas?

This country desperately needs a functioning fourth estate.

Prediction: the gop will rethink its strategy of boycotting future committees.

Wake up. Grow up. Get in the fight.

In after Baud. Damn.

WASHINGTON, Sept. 3 — A previously undisclosed exchange of letters shows that President Bush was told in advance by his top Iraq envoy in May 2003 of a plan to “dissolve Saddam’s military and intelligence structures,” a plan that the envoy, L. Paul Bremer, said referred to dismantling the Iraqi Army.

    Dissembling Bastard

Okay all you Bush bots, can we call him a liar now?

Okay all you Bush bots, can we call him a liar now?

Whatever. L. “Ron” Paul Bremer is a liberal anti-patriot. Look, he sent his shit to the NYTimes; why not send it to a balanced paper like the Washington Times or Fox News? Anyone who deals in any way with the NYT is anti-war weenie who just wants us to surrender.

Bill O’Rielly is about to tell me this, and I have to believe him, being that he’s both fair AND balanced.

No, Richard. He’s the Deciderer – not the Rememberer. For a frickin’ genius like to Bush to forget that he okayed putting 400,000 armed and angry men on the streets is a mere peccadillo.

After he forgot the Constitution the rest was easy.

Mr. Bush was quoted in a new book as saying that American policy had been “to keep the army intact” but that it “didn’t happen.”

Mr. Bremer is clearly a rampaging RINO. He didn’t need to smile as Bush rammed the blame for that particular fiasco up his ass but a deferential Thank you, sir, would have been sufficient. Instead that traitor had to go whining to the wrong Times.

Loved the wingnut meme that there was no army to disband in the first place, since the army wasn’t going to work and the officers were AWOL (not waiting in the barracks for us to arrest/bomb them).

They seem to think there’s no difference between receiving a paycheck and not receiving a paycheck, and several 100K privates with guns understand that.

    Derrrrrrrrr….

Isn’t that a bit harsh? His intentions were good, you can’t doubt that.

Today for lunch I’m doing my part to help the Republicans. I’m eating Famous Daves.

yeah that’s what the conservative with a conscience says about Yoo in today’s NYT.

    Ahw shit, more bedwetting…

    My favorite bit:

“The Arabic immigrant students will be isolated,” Hall said. “Whether that materializes instantly into terrorists, that’s a huge statement to make. But are these students not assimilating and becoming part of the American fabric? And is that potentially a problem? We think so, yes.”

Because learning to speak Arabic COMPLETLEY shuts you off from the “American fabric” (side note for those quotes: WTF?). And after they’ve gone to school for a few days, POOF! we’ve got 3rd grade terrists!!

I love how they try to quell the controversy by–get this–hiring not just a principal, but a JEWISH one….

The school will begin by teaching just sixth-graders, then add a grade each year to end up with 500 to 600 students in grades 6-12, Department of Education spokeswoman Melody Meyer told The Associated Press last week.

Unless some terrorists lovers of FreedomnDemocracy (TM) blow it up. The Islamofascists will just need to learn English so we don’t need Arabic translators.

Haven’t we been hearing groans and cries of angst from the military, the state department, big corporations, big media… freak’n everybody and his grandmother about how our nation doesn’t have enough Arabic translators?

And what happens all of eight seconds after a school puts together a program to teach Arabic? Conservative pantswetting of the highest degree. At times like this, can anyone honestly say America doesn’t deserve to get its ass kicked repeatedly?

In other news, apparently the only people allowed to look over the Government’s shoulder and hold it accountable are the Chinese.

The Pentagon on Tuesday said computer hackers gained access to an unclassified e-mail system in the office of Defense Secretary Robert Gates, but declined comment on a report that the Chinese army was responsible.

Look, you allow these kids to even learn about Arabic, and they’ll turn into terrorists planting pipe bombs and shit.

    Coutesy of Jesus’ General:

    The Width of Your Stance
(sung to an obscure little folk song by Bob Dylan called “Blowing in the Wind”)

How many stalls must a man stand in
Before you start tapping your leg?
Yes, n how many knees must a man fall on
Before he stops having to beg?
Yes, n how many times must we knock on the wall
Before you know a heart wags?
The answer is in the width of your stance
The answer’s the width of your stance

How much TP must a man pick up
    From a notorious bathroom floor
Yes, n how many men must one man have
Before they call him a whore?
Yes, n how many thrusts will it take till he knows
That he’d really like a few more
The answer is in the width of your stance
The answer’s the width of your stance

How many years can a bathroom exist
Before it calls it a day?
Yes, n how many years can desire persist
Before it’s allowed to go make hay?
Yes, n how many times can a man give head
To another man who just isn’t gay?
The answer is in the width of your stance
The answer’s the width of your stance

We can stance if we want to,
We can leave the cops behind.
    ‘Cos the cops don’t stance
    and if they don’t stance
well they’re no friends of mine.

    I’ll stop now. You’re welcome.
