Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

The current Supreme Court is a rogue court. Very dangerous.

He imagines himself as The Big Bad, Who Is Universally Feared… instead of The Big Jagoff, Who Is Universally Mocked.

“What are Republicans afraid of?” Everything.

Republicans want to make it harder to vote and easier for them to cheat.

Shut up, hissy kitty!

You come for women, you’re gonna get your ass kicked.

“The difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits.”

He really is that stupid.

Please don’t feed the bears.

He seems like a smart guy, but JFC, what a dick!

Too often we hand the biggest microphones to the cynics and the critics who delight in declaring failure.

Republicans don’t lie to be believed, they lie to be repeated.

Reality always lies in wait for … Democrats.

Black Jesus loves a paper trail.

In my day, never was longer.

This must be what justice looks like, not vengeful, just peaceful exuberance.

Republicans do not pay their debts.

That’s my take and I am available for criticism at this time.

There is no right way to do the wrong thing.

This really is a full service blog.

Balloon Juice, where there is always someone who will say you’re doing it wrong.

There are more Russians standing up to Putin than Republicans.

Republican also-rans: four mules fighting over a turnip.

Fight them, without becoming them!

At work, so I am missing the testimony.

*** Update ***

Ok. Found it streaming via CNN. I have been watching for several minutes, and have not heard a damned word from Petraeus and Crocker. All pols giving statements. Now Petraeus’s mic is broken. Skelton looks pissed.

*** Update #2 ***

When I hear things like “ethno-sectarian deaths,” my bullshit detectors go off.

*** Update #3 ***

This chart shows… That chart shows…

But don’t ask about the data to make those charts.

*** Update #4 ***

Lost my feed for a while, but it is back now, and I see the job of banging the Iran drum fell to Crocker.

*** Update #5 ***

Is it just me, or does Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen look like Sean Hannity in a red dress?

Although Hannity may be less of a hack.

Why do we have to suffer through this kabuki? Over an hour’s worth of partisan “statements” from the legislators on the committee? Can’t we leave politics out of this?

Baby Jesus weeps for our once great nation. We have no leaders on government. God help us all.

Petraeus isn’t pulling an Emmet Fitzhume (Spies Like Us) and faking the broken mic, is he?

Magical September: wait until Marchnext September–this time, for real!

The Democratic party is the party of Charlie Brown, and Gen. Petraeus is the GOP’s designated Lucy for the current F.U.:

“the US has six months to win the war in Iraq – or face a Vietnam-style collapse in political and public support that could force the military into a hasty retreat.” — Top advisors to Gen. David Petraeus in Baghdad, 2/27/07

The general just called the troops “Americans New Greatest Generation”. They just can’t let go of the dishonest WWII analogies can they? I mean no disrespect to the troops over there, just to their dishonest leaders.

This whole thing makes me sick.

The most remarkable thing was when he was running down the amount of money the Iraqis spent on defense and how much more they would spend. He looked right at Skelton when he said that, too: Show me the money, General. Pretty poor taste, imo.

John: “Is it just me, or does Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen look like Sean Hannity in a red dress?”

More like Ariel Sharon. I like how she asked, when is the US going to make neighboring Arab countries do something about the Palestinians. As if it were , say, Saudi Arabia that has impounded the Palestinian tax monies.

Nice to see, though, that AIPAC is busy doing more than spying on us. Foxman is working his ventriloquist arts on the Comgresswoman.

That’s really not very nice, John.

    Besides, Hannity’s a lot prettier.

But I don’t think he would look good in that shade of red…he needs something a little more…hmmm…serious. Otherwise nobody is going to take the crap he spews out as anything but Simple Shit…some pearls might help.

That’s a terrible picture of her. I’ve seen her a few times on Maher and she’s not that bad (unless she’s really packed on the pounds lately).

Not that I don’t think she’s full of bull…but Sean Hannity will always be a creepy man. She can lose weight and change her views, he’ll still be a psychpath.

I can barely bring myself to watch any of this. A person can only take so much lying without breaking something.

Yes, they do. Oh Gawd !! Maybe Murdoch cloned them in his plot to rule the universe, or, maybe Hannity used his stem cells to make a girl version of himself, just to see what it was like.

I’m here to announce I was wrong…by only 2 months.

I’m confused. TPM is linking to a chart, apparently from Petraeus showing a schedule for drawn down of forces in Iraq.

Hasn’t he just betrayed the US to Al-Qaeda? Isn’t AQ watching that and gloating, saying “Ah ha, we just have to lay low until March of 2008! WOO HOO!”. He’s just given us a schedule for surrender to our enemies!

I feel betrayed. Can we call him Betrayus now?

The Petraeus/Crocker is the biggest waste of words ever.

And it seems that even the troops hate the troops:

“President Eisenhower warned of the growing military industrial complex in his farewell address. Since Dick Cheney can now afford solid gold oil derricks, it’s safe to say we failed Ike miserably. After losing two friends and over a dozen comrades, I have this to say: Do not wage war unless it is absolutely, positively the last ditch effort for survival,” wrote Spc. Alex Horton, 22, of the 3rd Stryker Brigade in Army of Dude. “In the future, I want my children to grow up with the belief that what I did here was wrong, in a society that doesn’t deem that idea unpatriotic,” he blogged.

After listening to this bullshit all day, and watching the general give an exclusive interview to Faux News, why shouldn’t we call him “General Betray Us” John? That’s what he’s doing, that’s what this administration has done and that’s what the Democratic Congress has done and will continue to do. They have all betrayed us all.

Sigh. Bush’s Pet gives us pretty much the same report that John Cole predicted last week . Of *course* he wants a F.U. to continue the manly surging. I mean, what is it about F.U. that you don’t understand?! It is unknown whether Joe Lieberman has recovered yet from his faint at the sight of the manly surge in General Pet Rayus’s pants though. The one he fainted at the sight of after he recovered from fainting at the sight of General Pet Rayus’s medals. Feel the surge, the mighty manly surge! Surge surge surge! Wow, the 101st Keyboard Kommandos must be, err, surging, in their mommies basements BIG time at the sight of Bush’s Pet, err, surging!
