Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

These are not very smart people, and things got out of hand.

We will not go quietly into the night; we will not vanish without a fight.

Putting aside our relentless self-interest because the moral imperative is crystal clear.

I did not have this on my fuck 2025 bingo card.

Republicans do not pay their debts.

Something needs to be done about our bogus SCOTUS.

Let me file that under fuck it.

Better Than Iran

Flipping channels last night:

On CNN-HN, Glenn Beck and a blow-dried guest congratulate each other about how their gay-loving party sets us apart from Iran.

Sean Hannity on FOX: “Outrage building” over some San Francisco gay group using Christian iconography to promote a festival. Notice the impersonal verb, implying that outrage just sort of appears out of nowhere. No, Sean, outrage is “building” because homophobic media stars chase ratings by amplifying the hysterical fatwas of premodern nincompoops like the American Family Association.

Greenwald this morning: Texas Republicans still think that we should punish homosexuals with jail time.

Gosh. I hope that Beck doesn’t pull a tendon from all that back patting.

What distinguishes “conservatives” from Iranians? Conservatives don’t want to kill the gays…they just want them to have a smaller share of liberty than themselves. It’s what this country was founded on–liberty for me but not for thee.

Yeah, Beck regularly makes me want to gag. He, Imus, and Tucker Carlson were the non-FOX outlets’ sojourn into right wing media bullshit. The man’s ratings really do scrape the bottom of the barrel (because he’s on the Commie News Network so he’s not a true Freeper and because he’s too distasteful for the rest of his potential American audience).

I eagerly await the day they finally can his ass. But I don’t see that day forthcoming any time soon.

Ah yes. FUX News, which gave us such examples of journalistic restraint and integrity as: “Pistol Packing Pervs on a Gang Rape Het Bash Rampage in a City Near You!” and “OMG! The Padres are Clustering Queers with Children!”

These people need to go fuck themselves with a rusty hammer.

As for Texass, someone remind those shitheads that the delights of sodomy are not reserved for the gay population of their state (all eight of them). Although the thought of some Lone Star Republican taking the perp walk for receiving a BJ does fill me with glee.

Cmon, San Francisco gays have been making fun of Cristianity for so long, we’re bored of it here in SF.
    Yawn, do something original please!
GWAR has been on that gig since I was in college.

H/T to Mobius for the gratuitous GWAR reference.

As for whatever Folsom was using to promote the fair this year, more power to them. After all the fair is as close to Sodom as one can get (and a lot of fun because of it), or at least it was. I have heard it went down the tubes the past few years.

I also notice, in the intertubes more, because I can’t bring myself to watch Fox or Beck, etc…is that the more right leaning folks are the ones to post articles about how women in Iran are so mistreated, yet these are the same assholes who will out of the other side of their mouths use the word “feminazi” against woman here and that “woman’s lib” (such a quaint term) has gone too far!

I thought they played out that schtick 15 years ago, but then again, what can you do after you have paraded around stage with … well, NWS.

Actually they were even on Tour recently, almost went to see them. Heard some of their new album and must say it was good.

    What distinguishes “conservatives” from Iranians?

Iranians are brown, wear napkins, speak Farsi, believe the Koran is the word of “teh God”, and support a government made up of Mullahs.

Conservatives are white, wear flannel, speak English, believe that the King James translation of the Bible is the word of “teh God”, and support a government made up of evangelical ministers.

As you can see, the two groups are vastly different.

Remember how much people started to care about how the Taliban treated women when we went into Afghanistan? At least that belated outrage felt legitimate. Glenn Beck is just unctuously using other people’s civil rights — rights he didn’t particularly care for until now — to beat down on people who aren’t into fighting Iran now.

Glenn Beck is some idiotified third-generation clone-of-a-clone of Rush Limbaugh.

I believe Hannity might be outraged about this group:

    http://thesisters.org/

The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence have been around since I lived in San Fran almost 30 years ago. I guess some folks never get tired of the schtick. I must say, though, they are pretty outrageous even if they aren’t new.

It’s never hard to find something to be outraged about in America if outrage is your thing. Sean and O’Reilly and the rest make their living off of outrage. They are the Sisters of Perpetual Outrage.

That’s the thing that infuriates me. These jackasses are crawling up the backs of women and gays in a country they wouldn’t think twice about.

I’m still waiting for Beck and all the other asshats to realy give a flying fuck about women in Darfur. But you won’t hear that because it’s just a bunch of “liberals” that are “using” Darfur, and, of course, Darfur is an area that Bush and the neocons have no interest in.

I think that if Beck and his ilk decided to man up and lead the charge into Tehran, he’d be pretty shocked to see a hijab clad miltia woman with her AK-47 pointed at his head.

They’ve been fighting for equal rights on their own, publicaaly, vocally…they don’t need some jackass in the U.S. to save them by invading their country and turning it into another Iraq.

The gays, again, the wingnuts are using them as a pretext for war? Christ. It just makes me sick. It’s horrible what happens to them there and in other primarily Muslim countries. Still…how lame it is that these assholes use them.

    Sorry, rantish.

There were hearings before Sept 11th on the plight of women in Afghanistan. The overall response can best be summed up as [crickets chirp].

Just like how hyper-partisan lefties amplify the hysterical fatwas of MoveOn and the Koskids until some anti-war killbot murders a stranger in Amsterdam.

Yeah, but Hannity had better cut it out, right. Can’t have him spreading “outrage,” right? Meanwhile, you go, Code Pink!

Yet many of you guys will obediently vote for Hillary and will all claim it is concern trollery to make this very point. Why legitimize a system that is, frankly, irreparably broken at this point? Don’t participate. Boycott. It’s not a case of the 28%ers. Laugh at the politicans who claim to be representing anybody but the hardcore 0.25%.

Glenn Beck seems to be the beneficiary of “wingnut affirmative action”. Welfare for talk show hosts, the new “fairness doctrine” assumes Liberal Bias so now all cable news outlets must meet a wingnut quota.

What I don’t understand is that Tucker and Beck get the lowest ratings on their channel, yet their shows aren’t canceled.

Maybe some turd exec in the higher offices doesn’t want Rush Limpballs to call their channel ‘liberal’ so they put some idiot on the air to show how ‘balanced’ they are.

Nah. Just continue to obey. Be a good little Democrat and continue to support the Feinsteins and Liebermans (’cause face it, YOUR Party establishment supported Holy Joe all the way, in all reality) and Absent Barack Obama and Kerry and the whole panopl;y of useless warmongering panderers and corporate drones. Keep on supporting them as they vote for more and more government power, more and more war. Lesser Evilism has been SO successful, hasn’t it. Vote for Hillary. She may only use conventional firebombinb against Iranian cities. Heck, 100,000 dead is better than a million dead, I guess.
