Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

“What are Republicans afraid of?” Everything.

If senate republicans had any shame, they’d die of it.

Seems like a complicated subject, have you tried yelling at it?

White supremacy is terrorism.

I see no possible difficulties whatsoever with this fool-proof plan.

That’s my take and I am available for criticism at this time.

But frankly mr. cole, I’ll be happier when you get back to telling us to go fuck ourselves.

The party of Reagan has become the party of Putin.

So it was an October Surprise A Day, like an Advent calendar but for crime.

Never entrust democracy to any process that requires republicans to act in good faith.

Fuck these fucking interesting times.

Conservatism: there are some people the law protects but does not bind and others who the law binds but does not protect.

They traffic in fear. it is their only currency. if we are fearful, they are winning.

We are aware of all internet traditions.

Whoever he was, that guy was nuts.

Republicans are radicals, not conservatives.

Our job is not to persuade republicans but to defeat them.

We’ve had enough carrots to last a lifetime. break out the sticks.

Teach a man to fish, and he’ll sit in a boat all day drinking beer.

This has so much WTF written all over it that it is hard to comprehend.

Let’s finish the job.

When someone says they “love freedom”, rest assured they don’t mean yours.

You can’t love your country only when you win.

If you tweet it in all caps, that makes it true!

So, would y’all think that the US Gov’t tracks or monitors the number, location and risks associated with the proliferation of biolabs researching things like anthrax and what-not?

If so, you would be wrong:

No single federal agency, according to 12 agencies’ responses to our survey, has the mission to track the overall number of BSL-3 and BSL-4 labs in the United States. Though several agencies have a need to know, no one agency knows the number and location of these labs in the United States. Consequently, no agency is responsible for determining the risks associated with the proliferation of these labs.

    Jcricket.

My wife and I were recently talking about the oddness of Disney having created a cartoon character whose name is a polite expletive euphemism for Jesus Christ. (This came up in the context of one of Larry Craig’s statements, based on his strange style of cursing: “Jiminy God!”) I wonder if that would pass without comment today?

    Republicans lost another one.

Edina Mayor Jim Hovland just switched parties, intends to try to get the Democratic nomination for replacing Jim Ramstad in Minnesota’s 3rd.

A longtime Republican, he is not shy about expressing frustration over what he sees as the extreme nature of the Republican Party these days, calling it “a marching progression to a more consolidated base and a smaller party.”

Looks like he was courted by the DCCC.

And it looks like a Iraq war vet might challenge Kline in the 2nd.

Bush was for international laws before he was against them except when he isn’t.

Bush just seems to have a knack for fucking up these days.
