Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Only Democrats have agency, apparently.

Everyone is in a bubble, but some bubbles model reality far better than others!

Boeing: repeatedly making the case for high speed rail.

Come on, media. you have one job. start doing it.

It’s not hopeless, and we’re not helpless.

This year has been the longest three days of putin’s life.

Republican speaker of the house Mike Johnson is the bland and smiling face of evil.

… riddled with inexplicable and elementary errors of law and fact

Cole is on a roll !

This isn’t Democrats spending madly. This is government catching up.

My years-long effort to drive family and friends away has really paid off this year.

Please don’t feed the bears.

The line between political reporting and fan fiction continues to blur.

Speaker Mike Johnson is a vile traitor to the House and the Constitution.

DeSantis transforming Florida into 1930s Germany with gators and theme parks.

The frogs are rarely mistaken.

Meanwhile over at truth Social, the former president is busy confessing to crimes.

How can republicans represent us when they don’t trust women?

When I decide to be condescending, you won’t have to dream up a fantasy about it.

The arc of history bends toward the same old fuckery.

Since when do we limit our critiques to things we could do better ourselves?

…and a burning sense of injustice to juice the soul.

Innocent people don’t delay justice.

Let us savor the impending downfall of lawless scoundrels who richly deserve the trouble barreling their way.

“Yeah? No Shit.” – Chris Cooper’s response.

I quite liked this film, actually. The Arab-Israeli actor who plays the Saudi Colonel is phenomenally good.

I saw The Kingdom…very good stuff. Nice mix of action and intrigue.

According to friends of mine who are still Republican – they bought some propaganda that this is an anti-American flick. Sorry, I didn’t get that vibe at all.

If a private intelligence group gives the administration the heads up on a new al Qaeda video under the condition it isn’t released early so they don’t jeopardize their sources, does the administration:

    a) respect the request hoping to get more intelligence in the future
    b) release the video as soon as possible ’cause ZOMG IT’S THE TERRIERS!!!, thereby scuttling anymore intel coming from that source

You get three guesses. The first two don’t count:

The founder of the company, the SITE Intelligence Group, says this premature disclosure tipped al-Qaeda to a security breach and destroyed a years-long surveillance operation that the company has used to intercept and pass along secret messages, videos and advance warnings of suicide bombings from the terrorist group’s communications network.

Well, it doesn’t really matter, because the Administration can just make up shit that’s almost the same as the real intelligence. After all, the American people won’t know the difference, so who’s the wiser?

    OH…those pesky Al-Qaeda guys…right.

OK. Here’s the new game plan in Iraq.

    1. Allow private security guards to piss everyone off.

    2. Stand back while angry mobs tear PSGs to shreds.

    3. Retroactively declare private security guards terrorist organizations.

    4. ???

    5. Profit!
