Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Reality always lies in wait for … Democrats.

Wow, I can’t imagine what it was like to comment in morse code.

You don’t get to peddle hatred on saturday and offer condolences on sunday.

Happy indictment week to all who celebrate!

A lot of Dems talk about what the media tells them to talk about. Not helpful.

if you can’t see it, then you are useless in the fight to stop it.

Schmidt just says fuck it, opens a tea shop.

I know this must be bad for Joe Biden, I just don’t know how.

rich, arrogant assholes who equate luck with genius

You don’t get rid of your umbrella while it’s still raining.

My years-long effort to drive family and friends away has really paid off this year.

I like you, you’re my kind of trouble.

Only Democrats have agency, apparently.

Make the republican party small enough to drown in a bathtub.

“Can i answer the question? No you can not!”

The poor and middle-class pay taxes, the rich pay accountants, the wealthy pay politicians.

The truth is, these are not very bright guys, and things got out of hand.

Take your GOP plan out of the witness protection program.

I was promised a recession.

Nancy smash is sick of your bullshit.

In my day, never was longer.

“Everybody’s entitled to be an idiot.”

Republicans do not pay their debts.

Too often we hand the biggest microphones to the cynics and the critics who delight in declaring failure.

The War On Islamofascism Awareness Week

This post is in: Republican Stupidity

FacebookTweetEmail

It’s on, yo. No word on how many insidious liberal elite forces can be spared from the occupation of Christmas.

In case anybody forgot that Horowitz’s worldview hails from Stalinist radical roots, Josh Marshall has an illuminating email:

They did quote a college Republican who said the week would allow them to target “tenured leftist professors teaching anti-American curriculum”. How they are doing that–beyond finding gullible media people desperate to bow before the altar of “objectivity” and “balance” by reading Horowitz’ press releases on air–remains uncertain.

Cool! Maybe we can set up an ideological doctrine committee to enforce fairness. Just like old times.

***Update***

OMFG. The humanity.

IM N UR SKOOLZ KILLIN UR MINDZ

the week would allow them to target “tenured leftist professors teaching anti-American curriculum”.

Um. The last I checked a tenured professor will stay tenured unless he messily butchers at least a dozen students in front of the college president and could not feasibly claim in was related to research. They can “target” all they want but that teacher ain’t going anywhere. Wouldn’t it make more sense to go after untenured profs?

Oh wait, I keep forgetting. If they shriek about tenured profs and the tenured profs don’t get fired it will be proof positive that all universities are bastions of LibrulCommieTerrorAppeasers!

A question: If a college is infested with LCTAs, doesn’t paying tuition constitute finacial support for a terrorist network?

Hitchens in slate, comparing Islamofascism with?

    A) Fascism
    B) The Republican Party

The most obvious points of comparison would be these: Both movements are based on a cult of murderous violence that exalts death and destruction and despises the life of the mind. (“Death to the intellect! Long live death!” as Gen. Francisco Franco’s sidekick Gonzalo Queipo de Llano so pithily phrased it.) Both are hostile to modernity (except when it comes to the pursuit of weapons), and both are bitterly nostalgic for past empires and lost glories. Both are obsessed with real and imagined “humiliations” and thirsty for revenge. Both are chronically infected with the toxin of anti-Jewish paranoia (interestingly, also, with its milder cousin, anti-Freemason paranoia). Both are inclined to leader worship and to the exclusive stress on the power of one great book. Both have a strong commitment to sexual repression—especially to the repression of any sexual “deviance”—and to its counterparts the subordination of the female and contempt for the feminine. Both despise art and literature as symptoms of degeneracy and decadence; both burn books and destroy museums and treasures.

He then continues on noting the differences between IslamoFascism and Fascism. Things like IF not believing in nationalism and corporate goodliness.

    The mind reels.

And then she is silent. Softly, she says: “We are fighting an avalanche. We are too few. I am frightened by my culture of origin. I am scared of my own people.”

    ~Nonie Darwish

“We cannot get out. We cannot get out. They have taken the Bridge and second hall. Frár and Lóni and Náli fell there… went five days ago… the pool is up to the wall at Westgate. The Watcher in the Water took Óin. We cannot get out. The end comes… drums, drums in the deep… they are coming.”

    ~The Fall of Moria

*snickers* It’s all so perfectly clear to me now.

According to Darwish, the female students in head-scarves did the following: As she spoke, they made exaggerated, “mean girl” faces at her. They rolled their eyes, practiced “disbelieving” facial expressions—did everything but stick out their tongues.

    ****

    “They are Hamas-trained” says Darwish.

Got that patriots? If you see a brown person looking at you with any expression except polite interest (although abject deference is best) they are engaging in terrorist activity. To avoid death by “mean girl faces” please consume plenty of liquids at all time so you can unleash a flood of pee that will carry you away from danger.

Home of the brave my sweet yellow ass.

Yesterday while driving I listened to a local center-right, small “l” libertarian, now small “r” Republican type talk show guy interviewing a local College Republican pushing IAW. Swear to God the CR sounded like his voice hasn’t fully changed yet. Which made it all the funnier listening to his talking points that it was vitally necessary to take IAW seriously.

The talk show guy was mightily trying not to outright laugh, but a few times lost that fight. The College Republican’s message was that if we didn’t take IAW and the pervasive threat of islamocommofascism seriously, WE’RE ALL GONNA DIE! Plus, if we irresponsibly elect Democrats next year, not only that, we’d all be forced into burkas while waiting for our heads to be cut off.

It was priceless. It was like Darrel with a voice. Are they cloning him at Liberty University and sending them out as missionaries to other schools?

Lookie what RooGoo’s foreign policy advisor is recc’ing:

America should be working to overthrow governments in Saudi Arabia, Syria and Egypt and “every one of the despotic regimes in that region, by force if necessary and by nonmilitary means if possible,” he said. “They are fronts of the war. You can’t do everything at once. And to have toppled two of those regimes in five years or six years is I think a major achievement.

Whoa, Nellie. He just soooo out-nutted the wingiest of the wingnuts that the MSM has to notice this…right? Right?

I just found out yesterday that the Young Republicans are not the same as the College Republicans. Shocker. Apparently the latter is much more Howoritz-ian in their goat-blowing stupidity.

On a related note, I’m through giving Republicans a “fair shake”. The current crop is so intent on ruining America (tax cuts uber alles, war on science, anti-Islam hysteria, demonization of gays/minorities/immigrants) that they deserve nothing but contempt. Anyone who continues to vote to perpetuate the Republican party in America should be smacked. Hard. In a Republican-style manner (with a condom-covered dildo and/or wet suit involved).

Not really. Sort of reminds me of Rumsfeld’s 10-30-30 big picture vision for the military. 10 days to get to theater, 30 days to kick ass, followed by 30 days to redeploy for the next adventure.

Seriously…I think they’re clones or androids or something. There is a huge difference between College Republicans and Republicans who happen to go to college: Members of the latter may be a little bit nutty, but members of the former are pretty much batshit crazy by definition. They’re a disturbing lot.

David Horowitz is bashing professors, still, after all these years? Except for the rhetoric, he hasn’t changed a bit. They used to be fascist slaves of the oppressive establishment, now they’re all radicals brainwashing the young — whatever. Meet the new mindless grandstanding posturer, just the same as the old mindless grandstanding posturer, except maybe with slightly shorter hair and fewer love beads.

    October 26, 2007 at 3:37 pm

Muslims Against Sharia congratulate David Horowitz FREEDOM CENTER and Mike Adams, Tammy Bruce, Phyllis Chesler, Ann Coulter, Nonie Darwish, Greg Davis, Stephen Gale, David Horowitz, Joe Kaufman, Michael Ledeen, Michael Medved, Alan Nathan, Cyrus Nowrasteh, Daphne Patai, Daniel Pipes, Dennis Prager, Luana Saghieh, Rick Santorum, Jonathan Schanzer, Christina Sommers, Robert Spencer, Brian Sussman, Ed Turzanski, Ibn Warraq and other speakers on the success of the Islamofascism Awareness Week.

Islamofascism (or Islamism) is the main threat facing modern civilization and ignorance about this threat is astounding. We hope that this event becomes regular and reaches every campus.

A great many Westerners do not see the clear distinction between Islam and Islamism (Islamofascism). They need to understand that the difference between Islam and Islamism (Islamofascism) is the same as the difference between Christianity and Christian Identity Movement (White Supremacy Movement).
