All Class
Sometimes I wonder if it wouldn’t just be easier for a prominent Republican to publicly announce the following:
“The Republican party no longer wishes to pretend to want the votes of immigrants, legal or otherwise.” Oh, wait. One did:
Democrats knew they were embracing the touchy subject of immigration when they planned an afternoon press conference with three college students whose parents came to the United States illegally.
But they were stunned when Rep. Tom Tancredo (R-Colo.), a presidential candidate who has made a name for himself as a hard-liner on immigration, called for the three students — all of whom have been in the United States for over a decade — to be arrested.
Douchebag is the only term that comes to mind.
After the press conference, Tancredo called the INS to rat out a cashier at a DC Taco Bell who said “Have a nice day” with a hint of an accent.
About That Ron Paul
I never really considered him more than a fringe candidate, and I don’t think he has a snowball’s chance in hell of being elected, and I still don’t think he would make a very good President at all, but hot damned does he piss off the right people.
There has to be something to that, and I think it works to his advantage. I think every time we get a Red State front pager to post about Ron Paul and his band of die-hard and probably crazed supporters, an angel gets his wings.
More Beauchamp
How exciting! Via Kevin Drum, the story that never mattered but was the biggest thing since Dan Rather in Greater Wingnuttia is back, and apparently Franklin Foer is worse than Hitler. Or something.
I would tell you what I thought of the leaked documents if the links at Drudge worked. From Kevin’s snippet, it appears that the latest transcript show that Beauchamp basically told everyone to piss off, that he just wanted everything to go away. Or, precisely what anyone with a brain would have predicted he would do (note the date I wrote that- 10 September) once the nutters had the brass jumping down his throat.
The Instapundit senses a conspiracy, though, as “Scott Thomas” can not be found on the TNR’s brand new website. Alas, no searches work, the good professor later finds out. WHAT ARE YOU HIDING, FRANKLIN FOER, WITH YOUR CRAFTY NEW FAULTY SEARCH FEATURES?
As a side note, it is amazing how quick this shit goes viral with the right- I worked for a little bit, came back, refreshed the browser and saw Kevin talking about it, and immediately noted that every 24%er in the blogosphere already had an opinion up at memeorandum.
*** Update ***
And now Drudge appears to have pulled everything.
*** Update #2 ***
Fourteen pages of Beauchamp refusing to talk about the story (again, who would have guessed that would happen?). That sure clinches it!
Now- on to the speculation as to why Drudge pulled the story. Was there identifying data on the fax that would let us know who leaked the documents (assuming they are legit?). Someone in the military, perhaps? Did TNR make it all up to screw with Drudge?
And finally- how many of you knew who Franklin Foer was before this whole thing? Or had read any of Beauchamp’s dispatches?
Why Does Congress Have A Lower Approval Rating Than President Pinhead?
Kevin sums it up. Also see recent leadership polls for Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi over at Kos. Right now Democrats hate their leaders as much as Republicans do, and the reasons just aren’t that hard to figure out. They got rolled on wiretapping American citizens, they have no plan for getting ahead of the mortgage meltdown and on most days crucial committee members like Rockefeller and Feinstein act more like their craven predecessors than like Democrats. Majorities in both houses can’t being themselves to pass any funding bill except what the president asks for in his words.
Claims that Republican minorities have some institutional trump card that keeps anything from getting done strike me as a copout – as Kevin thoroughly documents far too many Democrats, possibly most, act petrified of their own shadow. And if Jonah Goldberg ever got anything right (experience I guess) it’s that abuse only gets worse when you telegraph that you’re scared to fight back.
As I pointed out before Republicans are afraid of looking weak, Democrats are afraid of losing. There’s no joy in events proving me right.
***Update***
Also see John’s earlier post on this topic. At this point I don’t see any way to convince me that the Dem leadership in Congress should not move on in 2009 and make room for people with the courage of their convictions.

iTouch
So I have this iTouch, and I now have it synced to the office Mac. My question- can I upload songs from other computers, so long as it does not involve syncing Or is this it- I can only use the office computer?
Tunch Blogging
I am beginning to really understand why people like Apples.
They are easy.
I plugged in my old Sony camera, and iPhotos popped up. I picked the pictures on the camera I wanted to import, and it imported them. I then edited them slightly in photoshop, and I was done. No screaming. No chest pains. No spending 45 minutes downloading drivers so it would recognize my camera. Just plug it in, and it works. At any rate, some pictures of Tunch:
Tunch letting me know who is boss.

Sleeping on my Steelers gear that I had put out the night before the game. Nothing is sacred.
At any rate, this is so easy, expect more pictures of Tunch.
