Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

If you thought you’d already seen people saying the stupidest things possible on the internet, prepare yourselves.

You passed on an opportunity to be offended? What are you even doing here?

Finding joy where we can, and muddling through where we can’t.

If you don’t believe freedom is for everybody, then the thing you love isn’t freedom, it is privilege.

If you still can’t see these things even now, maybe politics isn’t your forte and you should stop writing about it.

It may be funny to you motherfucker, but it’s not funny to me.

One of our two political parties is a cult whose leader admires Vladimir Putin.

We can show the world that autocracy can be defeated.

Is it negotiation when the other party actually wants to shoot the hostage?

Jesus watching the most hateful people claiming to be his followers

Trumpflation is an intolerable hardship for every American, and it’s Trump’s fault.

Imperialist aggressors must be defeated, or the whole world loses.

All hail the time of the bunny!

Today in our ongoing national embarrassment…

People really shouldn’t expect the government to help after they watched the GOP drown it in a bathtub.

They are lying in pursuit of an agenda.

The world has changed, and neither one recognizes it.

Someone should tell Republicans that violence is the last refuge of the incompetent, or possibly the first.

Lick the third rail, it tastes like chocolate!

The revolution will be supervised.

I’m more christian than these people and i’m an atheist.

New McCarthy, same old McCarthyism.

Do not shrug your shoulders and accept the normalization of untruths.

This year has been the longest three days of putin’s life.

KY News: Dems Beat Off the GOP

Welcome Governor-elect, Steve Beshear!

Kentucky voters on Tuesday dumped scandal-stained Republican Gov. Ernie Fletcher, electing Democrat Steve Beshear, while Mississippi Republican Gov. Haley Barbour coasted to re-election.

With all precincts reporting, Beshear, a former state attorney general and lieutenant governor, had 59 percent of the vote to 41 percent for Fletcher, who had trailed badly in pre-election polls following a hiring scandal.

With any luck, this is the start of a trend. Gee, maybe every Democratic candidate should solicit the support of gay organizations!

Ummmm. The title of this post is, uh … well … how you say it? Funny? Hilarious is more like it … Sorry, just my juvenile sense of humor at work.

Fletcher was actually the outlier for KY politics.

Democrats have controlled the state forever. When I was growing up there I don’t recall a single GOP governor ever.

Just always remember and never forget–the GOP courts its base, the Democrats ignore theirs.

If Dem spokemen want to be cute, they can use this as a mandate from the people that Kentucky wants gay-happy Governors in office after all.

    Hehe. A mandate.

If you want an interesting story, you should consult back issues of the Louisville Courier-Journal or the Lexington Herald Leader. How Fletcher and the GOP ever thought he could be re-elected is completely beyond me. It’s so bad that he actually issued blanket pardons to his entire cabinet so they couldn’t be prosecuted for their alleged activities. He’ll be lucky to avoid the federal slam.

Haley Barbour spent A TON ‘O MONEY on this race. Lots and lots of TV spots in the Memphis market ever since late Aug. then won with 56%. Wonder why he was so nervous?

BTW- Pat Robertson just endorsed Ghouliani!

    Dems Beat Off the GOP

That’s odd. I could have sworn that the Dems were in charge of giving oral, and that congressional pages handled the handjobs.

I didn’t really think you needed KY to beat off…it’s just your hand – if you get too much friction you can just re-adjust your grip. Now anal, well, that’s an entirely tighter situation.

But speaking of assholes, hopefully Fletcher’s loss will grease the tubes for the GOP and slide as many of them out of orifice as possible.

I firmly think this is the opening salvo on America’s war on GOP politics.

    I love it.
