Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

The willow is too close to the house.

Republicans are radicals, not conservatives.

Perhaps you mistook them for somebody who gives a damn.

Republicans: slavery is when you own me. freedom is when I own you.

It’s a new day. Light all those Biden polls of young people on fire and throw away the ashes.

These days, even the boring Republicans are nuts.

It’s the corruption, stupid.

The truth is, these are not very bright guys, and things got out of hand.

When the time comes to make an endorsement, the pain of NYT editors will be palpable as they reluctantly whisper “Biden.”

Nothing worth doing is easy.

Let’s show the world that autocracy can be defeated.

Be a traveling stable for those who can’t find room at the inn.

Trump makes a mockery of the legal system and cowardly judges just sit back and let him.

We’ve had enough carrots to last a lifetime. break out the sticks.

Peak wingnut was a lie.

They’re not red states to be hated; they are voter suppression states to be fixed.

A consequence of cucumbers

They are lying in pursuit of an agenda.

I know this must be bad for Joe Biden, I just don’t know how.

Happy indictment week to all who celebrate!

Wow, you are pre-disappointed. How surprising.

White supremacy is terrorism.

Conservatism: there are people the law protects but does not bind and others who the law binds but does not protect.

Teach a man to fish, and he’ll sit in a boat all day drinking beer.

No Steelers today. Boo.

*** Update ***

I am watching MTP with Russert, and Mike Murphy, the Republican Strategist, is beginning to look like Darth Vader without his helmet on.

    Saw Huckabee on Blitzer’s show.

He was talking about the Israeli/Palestinian issue and he said that talks haven’t happened for 7 years. Without of course mentioning that other curious feature of the last 7 years…the Bush Admin.

My husband is in deep mourning for Dixon and the Oregon Ducks. Me, I’m conflicted…I graduated from Oregon State, it’s ingrained…but I do hope that Dixon can recover enought to have a pro career.

Apparently there’s no Seahawks game either. Yes, they’re scheduled but I don’t think anyone told their offense that.

Looks like the Reich wing is undermining the judiciary again by swiftboating this judge.
Romney: Judge He Appointed Should Resign

Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney said Saturday a judge he appointed while Massachusetts governor should resign because she released without bail a convicted killer now charged with murdering a young couple.

Why is this not sad news?

Yeah, Paul. I know — you’ve never gotten over the fact that that the Duke Lacrosse team was allowed to roam free when they were arrested, despite the solid evidence against them, so you generalize to all cases, including this one.

FWIW, you don’t need to worry. He’s going to spend the rest of his life here in Washington State.

Even Steely McBeam needs a day of rest. But now you can watch the Skins undergo another ass-ectomy. That’s always good for a laugh.

Your fellow PJ media mate Rick Moran wrote in his comments “Jesus what a shallow, unthinking ape” in his post criticizing Thanksgiving or something as being a socialist holiday. I thought that was a rather terrible thing for him to write about Jesus and pointed that out, but he deleted my comment.

Romney should not be allowed to appoint any more judges.

Over Thanksgiving weekend, my Uncle David was good enough to give us an impassioned talk about how the projected logarithmic curve of carbon release and climate change in An Inconvenient Truth is incorrect. Because apparently, we’re going to run out of stored-carbon energy sources, including coal, long before we turn Earth into Venus II, but just as things are really starting to heat up, so we won’t have much of anything to work with to solve the problem, but at least we’ll have no means of continuing to make things much, much worse. Also, there isn’t enough fissible uranium on Earth to make Nuclear a viable alternative to stored-carbon. He had already printed out papers with graphs to show all of this stuff, and I wish to God Unca Dave was just some crackpot who was basing all of this on calculations that he knows are right but the scientific community just won’t admit to his genius, etc. But Unca Dave is actually a member in good standing of the Scientific Community, so I kinda take him at his word.

It was all very depressing. So I ate a lot of pie to compensate.

    How was your Thanksgiving?
