Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

I see no possible difficulties whatsoever with this fool-proof plan.

Optimism opens the door to great things.

How can republicans represent us when they don’t trust women?

Not so fun when the rabbit gets the gun, is it?

… riddled with inexplicable and elementary errors of law and fact

That’s my take and I am available for criticism at this time.

Trump’s legal defense is going to be a dumpster fire inside a clown car on a derailing train.

Do not shrug your shoulders and accept the normalization of untruths.

New McCarthy, same old McCarthyism.

The arc of the moral universe doesn’t bend itself. it’s up to us.

Innocent people don’t delay justice.

I conferred with the team and they all agree – still not tired of winning!

Putin dreamed of ending NATO, and now it’s Finnish-ed.

You’re just a puppy masquerading as an old coot.

Compromise? There is no middle ground between a firefighter and an arsonist.

Republicans want to make it harder to vote and easier for them to cheat.

Seems like a complicated subject, have you tried yelling at it?

You don’t get rid of your umbrella while it’s still raining.

“woke” is the new caravan.

A consequence of cucumbers

Let’s show the world that autocracy can be defeated.

“Jesus paying for the sins of everyone is an insult to those who paid for their own sins.”

Glad to see john eastman going through some things.

A sufficient plurality of insane, greedy people can tank any democratic system ever devised, apparently.

He was shot in the leg yesterday, apparently during a home robbery and was hit in a critical artery. Very unfortunate. No link yet, just hearing it now on CNN.

Home invasions on celebrities has become a bit of a trend lately. Very unfortunate story.

It’s been reported there was at least one break-in at his home earlier in the month. They’re calling it a robbery but it sounds like nothing was stolen the previous time(s). I’m wondering if someone had a grudge against him and the shooting intentional.

Doc Walker (I think) was on local ESPN radio this morning in DC saying that in the prior robbery, whoever broke in had left a knife, which he said was a signal that that person(s) would be back. He called it a “hit” and revenge for some ATV incident that happened earlier this year (or maybe last year).

Very sad. It sure seems like more than a robbery with someone busting in his bedroom door to take shots at him and nobody else in the house was harmed. Real shame.

Not saying just desserts, etc, but this guy is no innocent angel.

the NFL is effed up. This guy was busted for firearms earlier, the NFL slaps him on the wrist. But get caught toking up and by God you’re gone. I don’t recall hearing about anybody ever being stoned and then committing any kind of crime (unless eating a quart of Haagen Daz at one sitting counts!)

    Wow,

Look at the jealousy. A man dies and all you can do is comment on the negative, show a little respect. You have the rest of your life to hate, why don’t you give him and his family today to grieve.

If you can’t say something positive just STFU!!!!!!!!!!

They say that his earlier run-ins with the law, including brandishing a firearm (for which his probation ended a while back — early this year?) made him out to be a ‘bad boy,’ but the birth of his child had a profound impact on him, and he seemed to be truly a ‘changed man.’

The suggestion that the earlier break-in was a warning, and that it involved an ATV incident, means, if true, that it was the same incident where the firearm was brandished. That incident involved a stolen ATV (or SUV, or some other kind of TLA* vehicle), so either people are speculating or someone has specific information — my guess is the former.

In any case, it’s going to be a big deal in the sports/entertainment/law-enforcement interface, and likely to be the fodder for an unbearably long Nancy Grace ‘season,’ except it comes at the same time as “Baby Grace’s” identity and murder details are coming out.

In any case, it is a tragedy, possibly even a Greek tragedy, or worthy of Shakespeare, where the life gone bad turns good only to be taken away — sort of a ‘Great Gatsby’ meets ‘The Natural’ thing. But we won’t hear the end of it soon.

This sucks. From my perspective, I was looking forward to having one of the best secondaries in the NFL (w/ LaRon Landry).

I remember watching his first exhibition game, intercepting the Denver QB in the end zone with a great catch, and thinking that he was going to be a star.

    What a f**king waste.

It’s not political correctness, it’s common courtesy. Evidently, something you lack.

Something tells me his family isn’t reading this blog today, so I don’t think they’re going to be offended.

F: Suck it. No, seriously. And fuck you and your courtesy, Chubbs.

Comments on Sean Taylor’s unsavory past do not in any fashion inhibit his surviving family’s ability to grieve. Nor do they reflect my “jealousy” or lack of respect.

F,please stop reading here as you’ll probably be offended by what follows.
This story was initially reported as a robbery, now I see that “alleged” is being inserted in the reports.
When I heard that he was shot in the groin,my first thoughts were it was either his girlfriend or another woman’s pissed off boyfriend or husband.
I guess we’ll see how the story evolves.
    F,you may continue reading.

Clearly a hit, as Doc Walker said. Whether the cause was the ATV confrontation or some other beef may never be known if “stop snitchin'” rules apply.

People who tried hard to get him turned around and thought they had succeeded are living their worst nightmare today. As someone who was lucky enough not to pay full price for my worst decisions over the years, I’m not looking to take satisfaction that ST got “burned” for one of his. YMMV.

I guess Common Courtesy or General Decency has become just being Political Correct.

People wonder where civility has gone in everyday life and politics, well look no further than when the term Political Correctness was born. Now every person (asshole) who wants to insult someone else can do so and then accuse them of being Politically Correct when they protest.

Whatever Sean Taylor was involved or not involved in has nothing to do with showing a little respect for that fact that he just died. And his family may not read this blog, (but then again they may) but that has nothing to do with showing a little decency to a man who just died.

I remember my mother and grandmother telling me if you have nothing good to say about someone then don’t say anything. I guess they were just being Politically Correct.

I guess he must have been one horrible person for some of you to immediately jump into denigrate him and his life. Nahhh, F*** that, I believe its all about the jealousy, he had what you punk ass Mother F***** could never have and you’re just jealous. Can’t stand the fact that in his short ass life he lived farther and higher than you will in your bitter little lives. But, don’t get twisted at my statement you don’t want to be too Politically Correct now do you.

Yes, I’m very jealous. He had a NFL career, a hood-esque lifestyle (for a large portion of his life), and thus a bullet hole that I’ll never have. I wish I could have a 1.5 inch GSW in my femur….damn, I’m jealous.

This Baby Grace thing is just horrendous. Just very disturbing. It is impossible to understand how someone could do that to a helpless child.

I think there is more to come on the Sean Taylor murder. Still, it’s a shame to see such a young and talented man killed like this.

Hey, it doesn’t matter what any of you think anyway! It is always funny when losers make comments about someone who has died, past and all of that rot. Former nobodies get to read their bullshit on the internet and feel like they are more than just computer geeks jerking off into socks.

We all have our problems, but if you have the talent to make it to the NFL, you’ve been able to dedicate yourself to something successfully.

As a Skins fan, it is sad to see him gone. He did have a lot of potential.

Playing with fire…fuck, what an original thought!!! You should write that down, maybe you can be famous someday!
