Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

There are times when telling just part of the truth is effectively a lie.

Polls are now a reliable indicator of what corporate Republicans want us to think.

If you don’t believe freedom is for everybody, then the thing you love isn’t freedom, it is privilege.

Reality always lies in wait for … Democrats.

It’s easy to sit in safety and prescribe what other people should be doing.

We know you aren’t a Democrat but since you seem confused let me help you.

Seems like a complicated subject, have you tried yelling at it?

Republicans are the party of chaos and catastrophe.

Hot air and ill-informed banter

Donald Trump found guilty as fuck – May 30, 2024!

They don’t have outfits that big. nor codpieces that small.

“Jesus paying for the sins of everyone is an insult to those who paid for their own sins.”

Speaking of republicans, is there a way for a political party to declare intellectual bankruptcy?

When I decide to be condescending, you won’t have to dream up a fantasy about it.

The Supreme Court cannot be allowed to become the ultimate, unaccountable arbiter of everything.

Every decision we make has lots of baggage with it, known or unknown.

Michigan is a great lesson for Dems everywhere: when you have power…use it!

If you’re gonna whine, it’s time to resign!

A democracy can’t function when people can’t distinguish facts from lies.

Fear or fury? The choice is ours.

Do we throw up our hands or do we roll up our sleeves? (hint, door #2)

Hey Washington Post, “Democracy Dies in Darkness” was supposed to be a warning, not a mission statement.

Something needs to be done about our bogus SCOTUS.

SCOTUS: It’s not “bribery” unless it comes from the Bribery region of France. Otherwise, it’s merely “sparkling malfeasance”.

Apparently not in Manalapan, NJ. Bonus: especially not if you dare criticize town officials on your blog.

Nor, it appears, do people suspected of being bloggers:

The township subpoenaed Google for “daTruthSquad’s” identity — as well as for any emails, blog drafts, and other information Google has about the blogger — claiming that the defendant in the case is actually writing the posts. The defendant, however, has already sworn under penalty of perjury that he is not “daTruthSquad.”

Next up, the local SWAT team will go door to door to find out who made that joke about the mayor.

Add the council of Manalapan to list of Americans who’d be happier in Russia.

of course there is free speech in New Jersey.

And politicians there consider ‘kneecapping’ a form of free speech too…

He’s just lucky he didn’t make a joke about how fat Johnny Sack’s wife is.

But what does it matter if he is the defendant? Is the defendant unable to make public statements or writings in a civil law case? Is there a ruling from the bench that says he cannot do something like that?

It sounds like BS to me.
