Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

There is no compromise when it comes to body autonomy. You either have it or you do not.

“But what about the lurkers?”

Hot air and ill-informed banter

Trump’s cabinet: like a magic 8 ball that only gives wrong answers.

They traffic in fear. it is their only currency. if we are fearful, they are winning.

Not all heroes wear capes.

Only Democrats have agency, apparently.

Let’s delete this post and never speak of this again.

Those who are easily outraged are easily manipulated.

Take hopelessness and turn it into resilience.

Prediction: the gop will rethink its strategy of boycotting future committees.

One of our two political parties is a cult whose leader admires Vladimir Putin.

There are more Russians standing up to Putin than Republicans.

Giving up is unforgivable.

Do not shrug your shoulders and accept the normalization of untruths.

Republicans do not pay their debts.

A norm that restrains only one side really is not a norm – it is a trap.

I’ve spoken to my cat about this, but it doesn’t seem to do any good.

Our messy unity will be our strength.

I’m more christian than these people and i’m an atheist.

Republicans: “Abortion is murder but you can take a bus to get one.” Easy peasy.

There are some who say that there are too many strawmen arguments on this blog.

Hey Washington Post, “Democracy Dies in Darkness” was supposed to be a warning, not a mission statement.

Not loving this new fraud based economy.

    Hey John…

One of my buddies from here in Philly went to WVU ’92…worked at U92 radio. I’ll be pulling for the Mountaineers today, though I doubt they need *my* help.

Plus his brother went to Mizzou…they treked out to the bowl game matchup a few years back. I think this season’s ticket might be a bit harder to get!

And my dad lived up the way in St. Clairsville OH for a while. Locals there were OSU fans, but it was close to Wheeling, so some WVU fans around also.

I only ever made it down to Morgantown once–for a homecoming game in ’91, I’d guess. My wife and I didn’t go to a football school (Go Jaspers!) so that was really our first big time college football experience. The Mountaineers ever since have been my adopted team.

    Have fun tonight!

PS Do you still have that Dingle-Berry picture?

ahh, nevermind…google image search reveals: http://kahlees.files.wordpress.com/2007/10/dingle_berry_west_virginia.jpg

You KNOW your football program sucks when it can only score 3 points against Navy. Prior to today, the Midshipmen D had given up 435 points, almost 40 per game. Everyone this season had scored a minimum of 19 points against them.

Yeah, the football program isn’t very successful, but they are some damn fine young men. They’ll have a true test of skill and courage soon enough. Football is a game. Being a soldier isn’t.

    wide left?!?

Not too concerned…the UConn game started a lot tighter than it ended, too.

    um, wide right…?

I figured by now I’d be able to switch over to the Mizzou game.

    Curse of #2?

Yeah, this game is 0-0 with 5 minutes left in the second. Nervous times if you’re an Eers fan.

And now Pat White is hurt.

Wow, John, are classes on flopping and acting part of the football curriculum at WVU. What a crappy call. That lineman deserves a cheap shot in the balls at some point.

Jesus, MSU had an easier time with Pitt! What’s up with the ‘Eers in the 1st half?

Also, I’ve gotta point out that the Grand Valley State University Lakers won their 40th straight game in D-II. They’re two wins away from their third straight National Championship

    >>What a crappy call

Yes, but a great flop. …and the Oscar goes to…

Maybe they need a diving call like hockey; then the penalties will offset, and being dead ball, you won’t even have to replay the down. (Diving is technically unsportsmanlike conduct, which could always be used, or delay of game in a dead ball situation.)

Well, if my grandmother had her way, I wouldn’t start it that way, either. But I do, so she says a lot of novenas fer the sake of my soul.

    HOLY MUTHAF…

And right now, Missouri is losing to Oklahoma. If Mizzou does lose, the entire BS, oh excuse me BCS, system gets screwed over. We’re gonna have an unimpressive Ohio State (?!?!) against… um… USC? LSU? Georgia? Hawaii? Hell, let’s bring South Florida back into the discussion…

I swear to Dog. Playoff system. There is no substitute.
