It’s World AIDS Day, just FYI. There are no gay friendly categories here (except “Republican Stupidity”), so this is categorized as”Other”

I thought the current PC wisdom is that being gay had nothing to do with getting AIDS.
And that AIDS is a epidemic that the UN says it is.

The fact that nobody in Africa or India dies of AIDS anymore is a testament to the dishonesty of homosexuals in fleecing hardworking Americans. I guess somebody had to take over for the Jews, right?

Paulel really is the biggest jackalope shagger in the ‘tubes.

A question. What the hell happened to the red ribbon? I can’t go outside without seeing magnetic Support Our Troops/We Luv America ribbons or into a store without seeing pink breast cancer awareness ribbons. And there’s the puzzle piece one for autism and a purple one for something I can’t remember (diabetes?) But I never see the red ribbon any more except around World AIDS Day (and talk about an unfortunate acronym).

They need to wrap every building in DC in one as a reminder.

Sometimes the yellow one stands for testicular cancer, so you get two for the price of one then!

Paul actually has a good point, although the Balloon Juice PC patrol is conditioned to ridicule him.

It may have started with AIDS patient zero Gaëtan Dugas, a CANADIAN flight attendent, but AIDS is no longer the “gay plague” which some thought it was back in the 1980s. It is a human disease. That is a fact.

Why Mike is complaining, perhaps tongue in cheek, that there are no “gay friendly” categories in a post about World AIDS Day is anyone’s guess.

Perhaps you might want to take this up with your co-bloggers, Mike. I think you’ll find their email addresses over there on the right side of your screen.

    No, your other right.

Oh, and I might add that AIDS isn’t friendly to gays, so “gay friendly” would make no sense. AIDS is friendly to no one.

I guess nobody in Africa or India dies from being hacked to death by radical Muslims either.

Or the testing in Africa classifies almost every disease in Africa as an HIV disease

Never thought that Paul L. and Psycheout would have valid take-downs of Michael D., but they’re right — why the hell would you need a “gay friendly” category for World AIDS Day? Maybe here in the States AIDS is more associated with the gay community, but world wide? Not so much. Equal opportunity scourge.

So what you’re saying is that Balloon Juice needs a gay “affirmative action” program? Since gays are a tiny percentage of the general population, I can’t understand why a gay was given a plum spot on the Balloon Juice writing staff. I say John should have elevated such literay luminaries as JWW, Darrel, scs or Paul L.

One thing I liked about scs was that she always argued in good faith.

But back on topic, one day AIDS will be cured by private enterprise. Just you wait. That the Federal government has meddled as much as it has is a disaster, as that has held back potential cures. It’s very similar to how welfare has held down the poor ever since FDR’s Raw Deal.

Oh dear god – psycheout is most definitely a spoof. Perhaps psycheout is actually scs.

“Look, all I’m saying is that it’s time to rationally discuss whether or not lynching was really that bad”

“Look, Terri Schiavo may or may not be in a PVS like all those doctor-types say, but there’s a guy out there who says she isn’t, so we owe it to the world to consider the Republican talking points”.

    Dear Psycheout,

The idea of randy flight attendant as patient zero has been debunked. I know it’s hard to keep up with developments what with obsessing over whether Britney Spears is wearing undies, spewing out gay bashing blog entries, wanking in your mom’s basement and wringing your hands over zygotes, but do try. As for AIDS being a gay disease, it’s nice to see you’ve pulled your head far enough out of your ass to acknowledge it isn’t, too bad so many other members of the Christian community persist in claiming it’s Gods Punishment of teh Gay.

Along with hurricanes, tsunamis, terrorist attacks and soldiers getting fragged by IEDs.

Please piss off, your “concern” is as grotesque as the rest of your ideas.

I think what Michael D. meant to say was that there was no gay issues category to file it under. Since Aids has affected gay men more here in the past, it would be of interest as a reminder of the day, not that Aids is a gay friendly thing.
