Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

So many bastards, so little time.

You cannot shame the shameless.

Books are my comfort food!

They traffic in fear. it is their only currency. if we are fearful, they are winning.

Let’s show the world that autocracy can be defeated.

Following reporting rules is only for the little people, apparently.

The lights are all blinking red.

The arc of history bends toward the same old fuckery.

There are a lot more evil idiots than evil geniuses.

Quote tweet friends, screenshot enemies.

Good lord, these people are nuts.

I really should read my own blog.

This year has been the longest three days of putin’s life.

These days, even the boring Republicans are nuts.

Narcissists are always shocked to discover other people have agency.

Republicans want to make it harder to vote and easier for them to cheat.

Some judge needs to shut this circus down soon.

You can’t love your country only when you win.

When we show up, we win.

And we’re all out of bubblegum.

“But what about the lurkers?”

They fucked up the fucking up of the fuckup!

Wow, you are pre-disappointed. How surprising.

Jack Smith: “Why did you start campaigning in the middle of my investigation?!”

I’d like to get together and argue with you on Saturday at a local pub. Maybe Prince of Wales or Hand in Hand. If you like Irish music, we could go to Limerick Junction.

Still too far from South Florida. It takes nearly nine hours just to reach the friggin’ Georgia border.

If you ever find yourself in Miami/Ft. Lauderdale, there are plenty of Juicers down here.

Take 14th West to Howell Mill and make a right. Once there, either turn left into the parking lot(1), or keep going to Chattahoochee. Make a left on Chattahoochee and head down a couple of miles(2).

    (1) will take you to Taqueria Del Sol, and (2) will take you to La Nueva Laredo. Good margaritas and awesome food. And I say that as someone who grew up on good Mexican food in Southern California (who can’t find much good Mexican food in Chicago, save for Frontera Grill).

Not sure about your choice of bars, but post some final plans later in the week and I’ll pop by for a drink.

You should check out Kavarna in Decatur’s Oakhurst neighborhood. Good food & wine, but mostly a terrific staff and all around great place to hang out.

I’m up next to Chattanooga, but I sometimes head down that way. If I do, I’ll see if we can’t do that little thing.

    Michael,

Live in Peachtree City and would love to join you, but I’ve got my Bro in law’s retirement ceremony in Jacksonville (20 year Navy man). Can’t miss that. PLEASE give us some leadtime and I’ll be there. Would look forward to meeting the guy taking all of Cole’s beatings.

Damn. Not in Alpharetta for work in the next couple of weeks, but if you’re ever in NE Cinci, ping me. I may be mistaken, but I think all of the gays here vote Republican. Well, except for my roomie.

This goes for any of the crew…

You need to come to Oregon and experience all the awesome microbrews we have here. One example:

For those who can handle it, Deschutes Brewery just put out their seasonal called Abyss. 13.7% alcohol, pours like used motor oil, and makes Guinness taste as weak as Perrier.

Ya gotta get up here quick, though. They tend to run out of the stuff fast.

Well, if you want to try some of our brew pub beer – a huge hit at the DPO meeting in Portland OR – take a plane to Boise, ID; rent a car and drive 150mi West on I 84 and take the Baker City city center exit west to the second traffic light, go 4 blocks to Barley Brown’s…oh sure. There are states with Middle of Nowhere who’ll understand E of B F Egypt.

I’d like to go, Michael, but can’t afford the gas. If you’re ever closer to Griffin (and why the hell you would be, I don’t know) drop a line. I’d enjoy it.

Update on when and where if you nail down a certain time and place. I’m partial to the westside locations above (Tac del Sol, Nuevo Laredo) because I live within 3 minutes of either, but east Midtown works just as well too.
