Stock market is plummeting, oil prices are going waaaay up, job security is a joke, wages have gone flat for everyone earning under $60,000 a year, real estate economy is so bad many realtors are quitting to go work at the local Publix, massive criminal misconduct in subprime mortgaging is getting uncovered on a daily basis, and oh yeah the GOP thinks this all can be solved by massive tax cuts.
There some interesting stuff going on for the Dems. It seems that you can’t toss mud on Obama with out being considered a racist
There is a lawsuit by a teachers union in Nevada to stop the casino caucuses. I think the caucus system is convoluted and sucks. It doesn’t allow for absentee ballots so the people serving in the military and others are excluded from voting.
The Pats are two victories away from a perfect season. GO PATS!!!!!!!!!!!!

It’s been over two days now and the Obamaniacs are still trying to convince me to ride the OMN Unity Pony.
The Democrats are not “fracturing.” The Democrats are having a primary. Fracture is when you have large groups of people announcing that they won’t support the eventual nominee, or threatening third-party runs. As primaries go, this year is a pretty tame affair.
Primaries don’t get a whole lot nicer than Obama-Clinton. On the GOP side, the rhetoric is a bit hotter and the supporters of their various candidates don’t like their second and third choices as much as most Democrats do, but even so all their chatter about staying home in November or refusing to support so-and-so is just empty bluster.
They’re Republicans. They’re obedient sheep. Once there’s a nominee, they’ll all fall promptly in line. That’s what they do.
Also, go Pats. I’m not a Pats fan, but I’m a ’72 Dolphins hater.

John, you going to do a post on the whole Ron Paul/libertarian meltdown over the newsletters? (It’s a bit of a tempest in a teapot, since he came in behind Giuliani in New Hampshire, which effectively puts the kibbosh on any Presidental ambitions.)
Note to the Paultards: running around posting “I don’t see anything wrong in what was in the newsletters!” is NOT going to help matters, ok?

Where did you get that from? I have not seen any of that besides from the Paul supporters.

I see a bit of it about Huckabee, both for and against.

Hey! I was in high school in Miami Beach in ’72, my family had season tickets, and I went to school most Mondays still hoarse from cheering on Griese/Morral, Kiick, Czonk, Buoniconti, Morris, and the rest of the guys on Sunday.
Enough with the Dolphin Hate!
What is it with that, anyway? What did they do that pissed off so many people?
Bob, you live in a place that is slowly but surely falling into the Pacific Ocean. I don’t even like to get out of the car to get a cup of coffee at the convenience store in Pacifica, for fear that a mudslide will sweep me into oblivion.
I understand why you are always so excitable. But, calm down.
We’re sick of the 1972 Dolphins because they’re a bunch of grumpy old men.
Larry Little is the worst offender. Sample quote: “If it happens, we will be 1A. They will be 1B,”.
I’ll go a little easier on Mercury Morris, he’s funny, and an ex-drug addict, which explains statements like this: “if they go 19-0, they’re going to have to park behind us. Our vehicle is already there.”
Sorry Gents, the 72 Dolphins played TWO teams with winning records in the regular season. A 14 game regular season. And both those teams went a whopping 8-6. Those Dolphins didn’t play another playoff team in the entire regular season, and none of the top 6.
With last night’s win the Pats have now beaten 7 of the 11 other playoff teams. They are guaraneteed to play one of those 7 a second time. They’ve beaten 3 other Divisional Winners. They’ve beaten 3 of the top 5 teams in the conference, 6 of the top 10. They’re exactly at 17-0 now, with hopefully two more games to go.
If they do that, and it’s still an if, who is “1B” again?
Well, the Colts looked like they haven’t played in 3 weeks. If only there was some sort of match they could have use as practice to keep from being so rusty around 2 weeks ago.

The only way that the Republicans can win is if the Democrats fracture. The Democrats are fracturing.
Hey, wasn’t that snowstorm in the game at Green Bay great?!

I’m from Chicago.
In 1985 the Bears had a nearly perfect season. They lost only one game on their way to a record-setting Super Bowl victory over New England.
The only game they lost was late in the season, to Miami.
So there’s that.
Also, I’m sick of the champagne stories every goddamn year.
