So you are the master of your domain?
Bombadil
Actually, I believe that would be Tunch.
Dreggas
It’s monday, we’re in a recession and it’s not gonna be pretty, citibank laid off 20k people and kuwait is bailing them out…good times, good times.
Punchy
The “we” is a tad bit optimistic, eh? I’m not sure how many more times my keyboard can be de-Coked after a Andrew or Jake posting. And I’m supposed to keep writing stupid shit for 1800+ more days? Do you realize how much stress this responsibilty adds to my life?
More importantly, do you really think Bra and Panties Publishing will be around for 5 more years?
Paul L.
Outrageous!!!!
Gun nut trying to swiftboat prominent historians.
Toolshed
Gotta hold onto that name, its a relic. When was the last time you saw anyone with a dash in there website name?
Face
There’s beating a dead horse, there’s manically obsessive bloggers, there’s fantastically dedicated-to-a-cause individuals, and then there’s our own Paul L. Wow.
Jake
Should I learn Mandarin first or start with or Gulf Arabic?
Punchy
Can I get this in English, please? :)
ThymeZone
Can somebody open the window? PaulW farted in the car.
Krista
Did any of you see this?
I’m just curious about how much non-U.S.-involved international news you get from the mainstream media — it’s all that we’ve been talking about up here, but when I saw the New England news last night, there was no mention at all.
Billy K
Canada has cars now? When did this happen?
Sorry. Probably not funny. To answer your question, this is the first I’ve heard of it.
Andrew
See? Gay marriage does lead to beastiality!
srv
No, America isn’t. But it will transcend change.
Dreggas
Keith Olbermann has descended to post on the great orange satan.
Bombadil
I did see some coverage of that (CNN.com, I believe), but we’re kind of overwhelmed down here with missing marines (pregnant and otherwise), Britany Spears, guys throwing their kids off bridges and women killing their kids and keeping their bodies in the upstairs bedrooms for months at a time. Plus, there’s some political stuff going on, too.
Krista
Okay, I was just wondering if any of you had seen it, or if it was only broadcast domestically. (Bit of a personal attachment to the story — the town in question is my hometown.)
Bombadil
Ah, that’s rough. Did you know any of the kids involved?
cleek
yeah… how, unusual.
Krista
The kids, no. They were too young to have gone to school with me, but too old to be friends with any of my friends’ kids. I knew the teacher, though — she was our music teacher in elementary school, and she was my violin instructor from when I was 7 until I was 12. I babysat her daughter a couple of times. A very nice lady. The whole place is so close-knit that everybody knows everybody, so everybody’s really affected by it.
That poor town has taken a real shitkicking lately — first the mill closes, putting 275 people out of work (in a town of 12,000, that’s huge), and now this.
Ned Raggett
But John, I’m amazed! You renewed your domain and ensured a future without asking for a fundraising drive because all the lefties are the ones with the programming brains. I’m ashamed.
(Has anyone else noticed that RedState’s ‘please help us, we’re morons!’ fund drive has *completely* stalled at $15,000 left to go?)
Punchy
Tim Eff, have you seen this?
Pretty damning shit. I’m at a loss to understand how it could have been approved at all, unless the FDA is so bought and paid for by the Bush group that they’ll accept data written in crayon on the back of an envelope…
Paul L.
How about this one ThymeZone?
I read this story with disbelief. Government Social Workers fired when they screw up.
6 Child Welfare Workers To Be Fired After D.C. Mom Kills 4 Kids
I am surprised they did not blame it on religion.
ThymeZone
If the workers failed to do their jobs as required, then I support the action against them.
I apply this standard right up and down the line. Please also fire George Bush and Dick Cheney. Thanks!
Dreggas
He’s Fucking Serious man..
demimondian
I don’t know about you, John, but I’m going nowhere fast. I guess that means I’m not going anywhere, right?
Paul L.
Where is your compassion and gratitude? The Social workers dedicated their lives to public service and that is how you repay them.
The results do not matter. Just their intent to do good which they showed by becoming Social workers.
Afterall, others have done worst and been forgiven. They did not send in a SWAT team.
Jake
In tipping a one-legged jackalope into the thread, PaulEll points out one reason I wouldn’t have heard about the story in N.B.
In addition to Marines/Brittany/&c.
Jake
Make that a no-legged, one-eared jackalope with really bad vision. A jackaslug, if you will.
UnkyT
Eric Cantor at Redstate
I’m guessing that it is only outrageous when it concerns the 2nd ammendment, cause some of the others sure seem to be fair game.
ThymeZone
Uh, you are describing basically the ethic of the fuckocracy that is the Bush Administration.
Just replace “do good” with “protect America” and “Defense of Marriage” and “911” and “Warrenterra” and you get the idea.
But anyway, I think it demeans social workers to suggest that they should be held to a weak standard of performance. If that is the case, and I’m sure it is in some situations, then that needs to be fixed.
ThymeZone
Damned funny.
Oh …. and, right :)
libarbarian
Paul L.,
Swiftboat?
Are you actually claiming that “Arming America” wasn’t a work of academic fraud?
If not, what are you saying?
From everything I can see, sadly, the state of popular research on gun control is absolutely a shambles.
The two most popular books published in the last decade, Michael A. Bellesiles’ “Arming America” and John Lott’s “More Guns Less Crime” have been both conclusively shown to be works of propaganda based on misrepresentation and, sometimes, outright fraud.
The fact is that the ranks of both supporters and opponents of gun-control are filled with (1) outright frauds who will say anything to advance their politics and/or (2) dumbass fools who will believe anyone who tells them what they want to hear.
There is precious little reason or rationality in the debate at the moment.
Sensitive Pony Tailed Girly Man
Five more years, that’s a whole lot of NE Patriot victories. You might even see a couple of Steeler playoff games in a span like that.
Paul L.
No, I use the term Swiftboat to mock the left.
True definition of Swiftboating
It is interesting that academia was able to disprove “More Guns Less Crime” by peer-review. But they embraced and awarded “Arming America” and had to be dragged kicking and screaming to admit it is a fraud.
And Jake, it looks like O-Dub (a favorite of the left) was playing with my jackaslug.
Conservatively Liberal
Five years eh? Damn, you are obviously a commie John. Anyone who supports five year plans is obviously a commie.
Should of gone for six years and maintained your cover a bit longer. ;)
